I walk toward the temple, I got there pretty quickly. The sign above the door said: Maybe Dead. How reassuring.  I push open the huge black wooden doors. I am immediately introduced by a chilling overcoming whispering. I glanced around. People that I left behind sometime in my life were in elephant sized bird cages hanging from the ceiling. There wasn't a floor underneath the bird cages, just a bottomless pit. I look at all the cages. Some held uncles and aunts an others held cousins, but the one at the very top gave me the chills. It was Mylo. Why did the name of this temple have to be Maybe Dead. You don't just tell a person that their best friend is probably dead! He had wing like growths coming out of his back which latched onto the cage.
"Mylo!" I yell, trying to get his attention. Nothing. I suddenly go the idea to jump across the cages to get to him and give him the key. I take a running start and grab onto my uncle Marlin's cage. It swings, and I jump and grab onto my cousin Tim's cage, which had a similar result. I grabbed onto my friend Quinn's cage which was very close to Mylo's. I jumped for Mylo's, and I missed, which results in me falling into an endless pit. Crap. I let out a scream, probably not alarming anybody. The key flies out of my pocket and into the air, falling near me. A warm sensation falls over me. Is this what death feels like? No, I was being pulled up. I turn around to see that Mylo's weird wing things had extended, and wrapped around me and the key. We stopped being pulled at the front of Mylo's cage.
"Idiot." He said quietly. His eyes were covered with a black blindfold, much like everyone else here.
"Can you hear me?" My voice hopeful. He smirked, and his wingy things threw both me and the key against the temple wall. My back hit it first, then my head. It should have knocked me out, but it just hurt real bad. This is gonna be a concussion, hopefully mild, the key landed by the door. I suddenly had no want to be here anymore. I slid down the wall, and landed on my butt on the smooth concrete like ground that surrounded the bird cage thing. I reach over and grab the key, then wave at Mylo, followed by me pushing the key into the air. "Reira." I step through the portal. I was still in Mylo's room, but it was filled with bangs, on the door.
"Hazel! Let me in!" Eugene yells from the other side of the door. I lift up the mattress, and slip the book under it. I push the key back into my pocket, then unlock the door. Eugene instantly opens it.
"What?" I ask.
"Why weren't you answering me?" His voice was slightly raised.
"I went to a different dimension. Sorry." I reply, pushing past him. He grabs my arm.
"And suddenly I'm dirt?" He was mad.
"Nope, suddenly you're bipolar." I reply, his grip tightens. "Let go of me."
"No." His voice was soft now.
"Again, bipolar." He pulls me toward him. He was as tall as Mylo so I had to look up to see into his eyes.
"Shut up." He presses his lips to mine. He closes his eyes. Mine grow wider instead. I stare at his nose as he pulls away from me.
"What the heck was that for?!" I wipe my mouth. He chuckles.
"You just looked so adorable, and you needed to shut your face." He smiles. I slap him.
"Shut up!" I yell, then storm away from him, back into the basement. There was a door that was wide open. I enter it, there were rows and rows of swords, guns, maces, and other inconspicuous weapons. I walk to the back where small gifts and nick-knacks from other dimensions.
"Hazel?" Eugene's voice rings throughout the storage room.
"I'm back here." I whisper. Then footsteps.
"I guess this is his storage room, eh?" He says, once he comes into eyesight. I nod. He wraps an arm around my shoulder, which was immediately shrugged off, and then he put it back on. "Hey, do you think Mylo would mind if I used a gun or 2?"
"No." I answer. He retracts his arm from around my shoulder and goes to look for a gun. "Do you know how to use one?"
"Of course! How do you think I manage to stay famous?"
"Oh yeah." I mentally face palm. Then an image of Eugene, shooting an old man pops into my head. Eugene comes back to me with twin pistols.
"Do you think these'll work?" He asks, I nod. "Can we go on a mission?" He asks, I shrug my shoulders. I don't know if Mylo would be okay with that. "Please."
"I don't know, honestly, if Mylo would be okay with that right now." I turn to him.
"Mylo isn't here Hazel." Eugene clarifies.
"But I don't wanna use Mylo's key too much."
"Who cares? For all we know it has infinite, so why not?" He crosses his arms over his chest.
"I care." I stick my hands in my pockets and fiddle around with the key.
"Ugh! Can't we just try it out!?" He yells. I was taken aback by his sudden anger outburst.
"Fine." I say, rolling my eyes. He cheers. Needless to say, I'm a little annoyed.
