the bell rang and everyone packed their stuff, waiting for ushijima to dismiss the class. there would be another short break that you would use to walk through the school building, to the classroom of takeda ittetsu, your german teacher. "presentations will be tomorrow. so every group that still didn't finish the work will hopefully complete it today after school.", ushijima said while looking at chikara and rin. chikara nodded eagerly and rin glared at the other members of his group, making even lev flinch. the teacher grabbed his books and nodded at the class before turning to ryugazaki. "you will tag along for today, ryugazaki. but first, please follow me to the staff room, so i can introduce you to takeda." the trainee teacher nodded and followed ushijima into the hallway. slowly, you and your classmates trailed out of the room as well, little groups forming on the way. you noticed that takanobu was walking behind everyone else, no one there to talk to him and you felt bad. you could only imagine how hard it had to be for him to transfer to a school where everyone already knew each other. you had been in this class from the start, knowing most of them from kindergarten or elementary school. you excused yourself and started to fall back until you were walking beside takanobu. 

the tall boy looked at you, not saying anything and you took the initiative and held out your hand. "i'm oikawa [first name]. is it alright if i call you takanobu instead of aone? we're all friends here and most of us call each other by their first names or nicknames." he grabbed your hand and shook it firmly before nodding. "great! you can call me [first name] or [nickname] if you want to." you smiled at him and you saw the hint of a smile on his face as well before he quietly spoke. "nice to meet you, too, [first name]."

you walked into takeda's classroom and sat down between hitoka and kenma in the front row. two seats behind you sat shouyou, the seat to his left and next to the window unoccupied. you looked at takanobu, who looked a little lost with his shoulders a little slumped and his brow furrowed even more than before. "takanobu, you can sit next to shouyou. that orange haired guy.", you said as you pointed over your shoulder. he perked up slightly and nodded. hitoka leaned over to you and whispered, "[first name], that guy looks really scary. and he's so tall." you giggled and gestured non-chalantly towards takanobu. "nah, he's pretty nice. doesn't talk much and is probably a little shy." she didn't look all too convinced by your words which caused you to break into another fit of giggles. "jeez, hitoka. loosen up a bit and don't get intimidated by everyone that's taller than, well, you." - "easier said than done."

takeda and ryugazaki walked into the classroom. "good morning, everyone. i'm well aware of the fact that you already know ryugazaki and aone, so i don't need to introduce them to you. but since aone and ryugazaki both didn't have a lot of german classes, we will work in groups today. every group will consist of three people, two introducing themselves to each other in german and the third person listening closely and noting down the mistakes that are made throughout the conversation." everyone nodded, kenma beside you looking slightly grumpy, seeing as he was the top student of your class and this task was way too easy for him. "we will mix up the groups every five minutes and i want none of you to just be the listener for the entire time. please keep that in mind and, for your own good, no matter how hard it may be, talk. i know that some of you have a hard time with german and i will be here if you really need help. but for minor struggles, please just stick to asking the listener to maybe look up a word. also, you will not be introducing your real selves. i prepared cards for you that hold the information for the person that you will be for this exercise. for example-", takeda held up a card. "-this one here is for monika maier, a twenty two year old girl that lives in cologne. the cards will contain the name, age, occupation, interests etc. i will now pass the cards around and then you can choose the other two people you want to work in a group with."

five minutes later you sat across from shouyou, nagisa next to both of you. "okay, shou-chan, [first name]-chan. start." you looked at the card in your hands and nodded. "hallo, mein name ist marianne schneider. ich bin fünfundvierzig jahre alt und ich arbeite in einer bäckerei.*", you said slowly. shouyou scrunched up his nose and looked at you and then back at his card. "uh, h-hallo marianne. ich bin tobias schmidt u-und ich bin-*2", he spoke carefully, but when it came to the age he looked at nagisa. "uh, how do you say 34 in german again?" nagisa stayed silent for a second and then smiled. "ah, i think it's 'fünfunddreißig' in german.", he exclaimed happily. you shook your head. "no, it's 'vierunddreißig'. 'fünfunddreißig' is 35." - "oh yeah, right. okay, shou-chan. go on." shouyou nodded and looked back at his card. "okay, let's do this. ich bin tobias schmidt und ich bin vierunddreißig jahre alt. ich bin ein bauarbeiter. freut mich, sie k-kennenzulernen. was macht sie gerne in ihrer freizeit?*3" - "no, it's 'was machen sie gerne in ihrer freizeit?*4', shouyou. but let's just continue. just remember that for the next group."

at last, german class was over. with the help of takeda, shouyou managed to kind of keep up a conversation, what made you feel a little proud on the inside. after all, he was your best friend and seeing him improve in one of his worst subjects felt like watching a freshly hatched bird learning how to fly. (tobE FLYYYY HIIIIIIGH) 

you spotted takanobu walking out of the classroom and turned to shouyou and nagisa. "guys, i won't have lunch with you today. i'm trying to befriend takanobu, so just go without me, okay?" - "oh, okay. see you later, [first name].", shouyou answered and nagisa nodded along. "yeah, see you later." you waved at them and rushed into the corridor, catching a glimpse of the tall boy rounding a corner. you broke into a sprint to catch up to him and tapped his back when you finally reached him. he turned around, an irritated look on his face until he recognised you. "oh, [first name]. it's you." - "yup, it's me. and i'm here to become your friend. how about we have lunch together?", you nudged his side and grinned at him. again, just for a second, you thought you saw him smiling. "okay."

a few minutes later, the two of you sat in a nice spot on the school grounds of haikyobi high school. you had crossed your legs and takanobu rested his forearms on his knees, sitting across from you. "okay, i feel like i should tell you something about the people in our class, so you know who they are. and after that, if we still have time for that, i can just tell you a bit about myself and vice versa. what do you say?" - "sounds good." you smiled. "alright, where do i start?"
