Chapter 7

"—time! Pencils down! Pass forward your tests and take a breather. Congratulations on finishing exams everyone!" The Teacher said, "Miss Himura, please bring the tests to me before heading to the student council meeting."

Rei stood up and nodded. Walking to the front of the classroom and collecting the individual piles. Mitsuki and Inko grabbed their bags and Rei's and rushed over to her.

"Yo, Rei can we walk you too the student council room?" Mitsuki asked.

Rei nodded, "Of course, I don't mind the company."

As they left the classroom Inko couldn't help but complain about the test.

"—I know I got the answer wrong but like, UUUUUGH! And you spent so much time with me only for it all to go to waste."

Rei smiled, "I don't think it was a waste, in fact I'm happy we studied. I have a feeling both your scores will be higher than what they were originally."

"Geez! I don't care about scores and shit, I just want break to get here already! Then we immediately have the school festival!" Mitsuki exclaimed, pumping a fist in the air, "I wanna do to the beach with you two hot babes."

Inko's eyes grew wide and she skipped clapping her hands together, "Yeah! Let's all go to the beach!"

Rei chuckled and stopped walking, "I can see if we can go to my family's summer home for the break. We could spend a weekend there."

Inko and Mitsuki stopped, look at each other, then back at Rei and smiled mischievously.

"REALLY?!" They both yelled in unison.

Rei shushed them and laughed lightly, "Yes, now settle down, we are inside."

Inko and Mitsuki skipped down the hallways hand in hand while Rei smiled behind them. Rei dropped off the tests at the faculty room. When she bowed and closed the door, Mitsuki handed Rei's bag over to her.

"Thank you Mitsuki." Rei bowed.

"Oh no problem sweet chee— OH SHIT! I HAVE VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS TODAY!" Mitsuki turned and saluted Inko and Rei, "Talk to you both later!" Mitsuki then bolted down the hall.

Rei and Inko waved bye even though they knew their athlete friend couldn't see them anymore.

"Inko, don't you need to get to the library?" Rei asked.

"Haha, yeah," Inko scratched the back of her head as she smiled nervously, "I guess I better go since you pointed it out. See you later Rei!"

Inko then turned and walked away as Rei waved a farewell. Rei then turned and walked towards the student council room, holding her school bag in front of her. There wasn't anything important going on today. Just her helping out the treasurer figure out how much money each class will receive for the festival. Rei knew it was a little too soon to be doing this but, in case more money needed to be raised over summer break, they had those calculations. It's better to get things done early after all then to wait last minute.

Rei sat down in the empty student council room and sighed. She rested her forehead on the folding table and took and few breaths in and out.

Rei then decided to pull out her phone in case her father had sent her any messages. To her surprise her father sent her nothing but she did receive many messages from Toshinori.

Toshi🇺🇸
Hey Rei!
I know you're probably busy doing testing and I'm so sorry for bothering you
My school doesn't care much for tests, let alone scores
Anyways
I spoke with my friend today about how I made new friends (he didn't really care) but then I told him that one of my new friends can play the piano
I've never seen his eyes light up so much haha
He was wondering if you could play the piano next time when he's around, of course if it makes you uncomfortable you don't have to
Haha now he's embarrassed, I've never seen him this embarrassed 👀

Rei chuckled and began tapping away.

Rei❄️
I hope you at least take the test and scores seriously. Also of course, I would be more than happy to play for you and your friend. As long as there isn't a lot of people around.
I don't do well in crowds. That's why I bumped into you and I'm still so sorry about that and about Mitsuki.

After a few seconds Toshinori responded.

Toshi🇺🇸
Awesome sauce!!!!!! 💪
Also I do take my tests and scores seriously!
My friend takes them even more seriously but he always gets second while I always get first on exams! He pretends like it doesn't bother him but then during the next exam I see him studying harder than the previous one!
Anyways! It's totally fine! Thank you for letting me know!
Also Mitsuki was just trying to defend you!
My friend does that all the time!
Generally I'll bump into someone and then that someone is all like "hey kid you wanna fight!!!!" and then my friend will just punch the guy before the guy can punch me and then my friend will be cool, spit out blood after taking on 3-6 upperclassman and be all like
"Yo Yagi! You should really learn how to defend yourself." And then he swings his bag over his shoulder and walks away
It's awesome
Oh dear I'm spamming you! I'm so sorry! And you're probably busy!

Rei❄️
WOAH! He does sound cool! Can't wait to meet him!
It might be best NOT to let Mitsuki and your friend meet though XD!

Toshi🇺🇸
IT WOULD END IN CHAOS!
BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

Rei laughed out loud at the idea. She then looked at the time and sighed.

"Guess the treasurer isn't coming today." Rei stood up, turning the screen off and stuffing her phone back into her bag. She decided to go sit on a bench in the courtyard. She could get some sun and fresh air while waiting for her friends to get out of their activities.

As Rei walked down the hallway she thought about home. It has never been a place she enjoyed.

Every since Rei was a little girl, her father, the CEO of a well known and established construction company, has always forced her to become a Hero. Specifically when her quirk, winter storm, awoke, her father saw potential in the 4 year old girl. She was just a little girl being rushed to the hospital because of self caused hypothermia.

When Rei turned 5, her father began to have her spend 2 hours a day on hero training. One hour for her quirk and another hour for studying. At first her mother had begged Rei's father to stop but he didn't listen to his wife, he ignored her wishes. Due to this, her parents began to fall apart, not that it was stable in the first place, it was a marriage between two construction companies to make one big construction company, to form a monopoly under everyone's nose.

Rei has no siblings and she has had no interest in love. Why would Rei fall in love and date someone when she knows her father would just destroy who Rei was dating. If it wasn't for Rei threatening to never become a hero, Mitsuki and Inko would be struggling more than their families already were, to be honest her friends families weren't always struggling; especially Mitsuki's father.

Rei blames herself for how much her friends have suffer financially, however they never seem sad. They're always so full of joy even though they have so little. While Rei, who has so much, wants the world to swallow her whole.

Rei, the girl who could create ice from thin air, wants nothing more than to die.
