Chapter 2

My writing skills aren't good, please be kind on the mistakes I made here, thanks :)

As I walked into the classroom, I could feel the eyes of the students boring into me. They started whispering among themselves.

"Hey look she's the new girl."

Instantly, my face turned to into a darker shade of red. Why? That's because I did not enjoy being the limelight of any event. Way to go Rachel.

"Rachel Williams? Is that you?" I heard someone calling out to me.

Instinctively, I turned my head to where the sound came from. When I saw who was calling me, I could feel a smile forming on my face.

"Ella Chance! It has been a long time!" I exclaimed with a smile. Ella came running towards me and gave me a bear hug until I am short of breath.

"Rachel! I was so ecstatic once I heard from my mother that you are moving back! Welcome home!" Ella said while grinning from ear to ear.

*tap tap*

"Ahem, class is starting soon everyone please settle down." Our history teacher stood in front the class and signalled me to come forward.

Here we go.

After the awkward introductions, I sat next to Ella. I was staring into space with a worry look on my face. Ella nudged me lightly in the sides and gave me a reassuring smile.

"You did great just now." Ella whispered while giving me a thumbs up.

To be honest, I totally sucked at introducing myself, I would stutter so much people would think that I have trouble with speaking . The list doesn't end here which was why I hate standing in front of an audience and speak. Well I have to admit that today I did not stutter as much and could look at everyone in the eye.

Once the bell that indicated lunch break rang everyone said their thank yous and dashed out of the class before the teacher could respond. On the contrary, I was packing my things slowly. As lunch time was what I dreaded the most in school, I would be wandering around the canteen and school like a loner.

When I step out of the classroom, I found Ella and her group of friends are waiting for me. I pasted a smile on my face and walked towards their direction despite feeling down.

"Oh wow, finally Rachel is willing to come out." Helen muttered with a bored look.

"Hey, cut it off." Nicole, the friendlier one defended me.

"Rachel come on let's go, you don't have to care about Helen, she's just in a bad mood." Ella sighed while pulling me towards the canteen.

I heard that Ella is popular in school, but I did not know she is this popular. "Ella! Here!" Someone waved frantically at Ella and pointed to her empty seats around her. Not only that, when we were walking towards the girl, everyone seemed to know Ella. They would call out her name and chat with her, for the girls, while the boys are obviously flirting with her.

Well, to make things worse, even Nicole and Helen are popular. Things are getting better and better now aren't they? I thought dryly. I stood there awkwardly, looking down at my shoes and kept very quiet. As expected, everyone ignored me like I did not even exist. Well that did not sting as much as I am used to being treated like this.

After 10 minutes we finally reached at the table Ella's friend Lauren saved for us. Ella and her friends were busy chatting away and suddenly we heard a voice from my back saying, "Hey Ella!"

As I turned around, my jaw dropped a fraction. Standing in front of us is the guy that I ran into this morning. He smiled at all the girls sitting at the table and when our eyes met his eyes did not even sparkle in recognition. This was rather disappointing and it stung. Am I that easy to forget? However, I tried my very best to appear nonchalant.

From their conversation, I found out that his name is Zachary Davis. "Hey are you a new student? I did not see you around here before," Dylan, friends with Zachary asked me. I looked up and whispered a yes.

"Oh right, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name just now," Dylan asked.

"My name is Rachel, Rachel Williams," I replied softly.

Before Zachary and friends walk away, Zachary said to me.

"New girl, next time watch where you were running. You could have spilled a cup of coffee onto my expensive t-shirt." I could see a few of his friends are suppressing a laugh.

My cheeks flushed to the colour of scarlet as usual.

Wait, did he just called me "new girl"?! What the hell?! Before I could form a retort, Zachary walked out of the canteen like he did not just shot me with his sharp words.

So he did remember me afterall. Funny, he thinks that his t-shirt is so important when I don't even give a damn. Such a pity, so what if he looked so damn handsome when his personality is like shit.

Ella and her friends all gave me a quizzical look which says how did you know Zachary Davis? I just shrug and continue with my lunch.

What a great way to ruin my already shitty day.
