Chapter 1
The ship soared out of the turbulent wormhole with all thrusters at full power, in an attempt to gain as much distance as possible from the black hole that was close by their entry point. In their time traveling, Nathan and Joseph have learned how to proficiently operate the ship manually, but could not have done anything about the side effects a violent wormhole left on a person.
"Oh...Oh shi-blgh!..."
Joseph sprung out of his chair with a hand on his mouth before he puked all over himself. Nathan stood up tiredly, but not feeling ill. He snickered slightly at Joseph who made it to the trash can at the corner of the room.
"Come on, it can't be that b-..."
Nathan stopped midway through because it was as if his bodily functions were on delay. He was hit with a sudden headache and he jerked forward to belch a thick and chunky fluid that colored the floor a cream-like color. Both Joseph and Nathan buckled to the floor when they were finished, trying to catch their breath.
Joe let out a weak breathy laugh, pointing at Nathan teasingly. Nathan then responded with a middle finger. It took them several minutes to recompose themselves and for Nathan to clean up his mess, before settling in their seats once more. Then, the ship sounded a repetitive high-pitched beeping that neither of them recognized.
Nathan opened the notification from the ship's system: "NEARING DESTINATION!" The two looked out the wide window to notice a familiar blue orb ahead.
"It...looks exactly like ours." gasped Nathan.
"I mean, it's still 'Earth.' But it is pretty surreal to know it's not ours..." replied Joseph.
Another yellow holo-window popped up that displayed a person buckled to their seat and blinking red letters that read: "Please Fasten Your Restraints!"
"Joseph, prepare to land."
"I'm all ready, Nate."
"Don't you dare go werewolf in this ship!"
"Why would I?"
"Because I know you."
"Fine."
Their ship had finally reached the alien planet- or rather, other Earth, as it looked exactly like their own home, but they knew it wouldn't look like so once they arrived. Nathan and Joseph strapped up as they breached the atmosphere and the ship started rattling and sounding off alarms.
"ARE WE SUPPOSED TO STOP THIS NOISE?!" Joseph called.
"I DON'T KNOW, BUT I HOPE GEO DOESN'T WANT THIS BACK, BECAUSE WE'RE GONNA CRASH-LAND!" Nathan responded.
"SOUNDS GREAT!"
The computer counted ten- nine- eight seconds until touchdown. The familiar clouds brushed passed them- four- three- two- the green grass was now close and they could remember its texture- then they crashed into it, sliding right through it.
"Oh fuck. That hurt..." said Joseph.
"No kidding..." said Nathan, unbuckling his seatbelt.
"What am I supposed to say again?"
"You forgot already?"
"I know it's something about the Chaos Emeralds..."
"And you wanted to say it! Forget it, I got it now."
As they tried to gather what they needed, and the exit started sliding open, they could hear someone outside of the ship saying:
"Well, it's a ship."
The Loose Cannons then jumped off it to meet their foes. Joseph immediately transformed, growing out brown hair all over, claws, and sharp teeth. He now looked like a werewolf- snarling and growling at the three anthropomorphic hedgehogs. Nathan was already in his black leather battle uniform.
Sonic The Hedgehog, the blue one in the center, seemed to have a moment of realization: remembering that he has met this duo before. Nathan then aimed his two chrome pistols at them:
"I've come a long way for this. Sonic and Friends, hand over the Chaos Emeralds to us for your crimes against the universe, or your little saga ends now!"
Nathan's voice was deep and slightly gruff, almost like the darker (in both appearance and personality) Shadow The Hedgehog across from him. The hedgehogs got into their fighting stances, Sonic moving up front:
"Whoa there, watch it! You don't wanna make a bad legend of yourself!"
Shadow leaned in a bit closer to Sonic:
"You know these two?"
"No, but I am familiar with them. Remember a while back when Eggman was messing up time and space and the Chaos Emerald was making me unexpectedly teleport? Well, it was their Earth that I wound up on both times, and let's just say they weren't so fond of my last visit." said Sonic.
"Hey! I'm not gonna ask you again!" barked Nathan.
"Shit Nate, I wasn't expecting three of them." whispered Joseph.
"You and I both."
"We have nothing to give you! And crime is the polar opposite of what we do here- let alone at a universal level! Where's your evidence against us?" the frosty-furred Silver The Hedgehog tuned in.
"Our evidence is our presence." Nathan snarled, promptly pulling the triggers on his pistols.
Silver and Shadow side-stepped the gunfire, while Sonic sped away in a blink of Nathan's eye. In that blink, Sonic was already balled up and rolling in the air towards Nate's head, but Joseph luckily reacted with a quick fist that knocked Sonic out of the air and into a nearby steel bench.
"Thanks, I didn't see that one." Nathan said, baffled.
"I barely did." Joseph replied with his beastily voice, shaking out his hand after the hit; he had underestimated the impact.
Before the two could refocus, Shadow had just rolled in and landed his Homing Attack on Joseph, causing him to stumble a bit. After bouncing off, Shadow unrolled himself to a stand in front of Joe and struck him with a fast uppercut that managed to ground Joseph's hulking figure.
Nathan ignited a signature Blazer and lunged to strike Shadow, but Shadow caught his wrist on time and threw a jab at Nathan's face. Nathan stepped back and shook it off, reholstering his weapons, then brought his fists up as a challenge. Shadow grinned and stepped forward to strike again, but this time it was Nathan who deflected the fist and cracked Shadow on the chin with a vengeful knee. Shadow backed away a bit, surprised.
"Not bad for a human." he said, rubbing his chin.
"You don't know the half of it. I take out rats like you for a living!" Nathan winked.
Suddenly, Nathan felt himself leave the grass as his body glowed with an aqua energy. Unexpectedly, his body was forcefully thrown across the air and he crashed into Joseph who had just recovered.
"I had him!" Shadow growled.
"Key word: 'had'." Silver fired back, levitating closer to Shadow.
Sonic then dashed in front of them, "We should split and meet later!"
Without another word, Sonic dashed off again into the city. The remaining two hedgehogs saluted each other with a curt nod, then Shadow went off in the opposite direction and Silver took to the sky- leaving Nathan and Joseph in their tearing of the wind from their speeds.
"That did not go as I imagined..." said Joseph, leaning up from the ground in a seated position.
Just then, the two heard a faint ringing in their ear. They looked around for it and realized the sound would grow slightly louder when they faced the direction Shadow went. Soon after, it occurred to them it was only coming from one of their ears.
"The ear pieces! I think they found a Chaos Emerald!" said Joseph.
Another chime in their ear, but now fainter as if it was going further away.
"Yeah, and that black one has it. Come on, let's find him!" Nathan concluded.
