XIII

S0L and the Vanguard had entered an official alliance, to take down the ever expanding virus. Guardian as well as other forces were launched out there, but by the time they got there, the situation had gotten worse. The virus had expanded more dramatically, having more than enough food to feast off, with the never ending army of Vex. In their attempt to study the virus they only fed it more and more, allowing it to grow ever more powerful. Many have fell to this ancient threat, from Eliksni all the way to the guardians themselves. Their Ghost incapable of doing anything as they were turned the moment they tried to revive their guardian, turning themselves and their own guardian into soulless meat husks that demand to be commanded. They have been fighting for a week, just to contain it while S0L researches a way to effectively take out the virus for good. Constantly gathering samples to torture and study. So far, fire is the best solution, but he is sure that there will be a way to destroy it. With the connection between It and the Helios being that they were made by the same species he started to wonder who they were. Where are they now? He called them the Great Architects, the marvels, the things they are able to construct are incredible.

Yet. A single question constantly looms over him. Where are they now? For a species capable of constructing such marvels, where could they be now. They can't be extinct, for that though is more horrifying than any other. A species to be exterminated needs a stronger enemy to do that. And the simple though of a species that is by far the most advanced they have ever seen, being destroyed by something far stronger makes him worry. They have the basic understanding of their artifacts, if the other threat, far greater one is still out there, how would they be able to survive. He was standing, alone, in a well sealed room, deep under the surface of the moon, where neither the darkness nor the hive had reached. The sole purpose of this room was to study a cluster of rock that was found here. It was purple in color and upon breaking it, the rock would only last for 12 hours. Then it would lose all it's power and just crumble into dust, worthless dust. He walked up to the rock and touched it, as he pulled away, a strange bluish gray electricity connected his hand to the rock. As he pulled away, everything calmed down.

S0L: Fascinating. What are you?

He inspected it closer. From the reports, there is no real long term use for this rock. They tried to put it in stasis, but it failed. It seems nothing is capable of preserving it when it is broken. He aimed his gun at it and pulled the trigger. As the shot impacted the crystal, it shattered into smaller chunks, He picked up one, it was light, too light, as if made from Styrofoam. Then, something caught his eye. He kicked a rock away, under it was a small device. As he picked it up and flipped it over, it looked like some sort of pager.

S0L: What are you doing here, little thing?

He twisted it in his hand, observed it, trying to turn it on. The buttons all had strange symbols on them. He did not understand it. Was it the language of the Great Architects? But why such a simple, human made device? He tucked it in his pocket and walked away.

Voice: HAHAHAHA. L̷̛̛̘̳̥̾͒Ọ̵̢̲̳̭͔́̆̑̽́̒́̕͜͝H̸̨̙̱̱̩͙̪̬̙͆̆K̶̟̏̓̃ ̶̨̥͇̯͖̺̩̐͗̈́̒Ṅ̷̢̯̖̘͖̦͔͔̿̈͂̀̇͗Ë̴̡͓̳̞͕͓̫̤́͐̂͑͗̑̓͘͝ͅŢ̶̛̬͉̣͉̣̱͙̩̑̈́͑̾̓̕̚̚R̸̢̦͉̪͈͓̙̜͗̃A̵̼͒̎́̂̂̎͂̅̓͠͠ ̸̱̺̩̭̪́̅O̶̡͇̞͖̩̍̃́̇̒̀Ư̷̲͓̫͇̏̍̅̚Ĺ̷̢͚̜̠̦͉̻̲͉͕ͅL̶̳̘̰͖̗̉͝͝

He quickly turned around as he heard a deep, echoing laugh from behind him. But there was nothing. No one, no thing in this room but him. He stepped out and closed the door behind him, sealing it tight before returning back to the surface.  He went back into his ship and headed back to Earth, to his next mission.

Upon landing at the Tower, he walked around, constantly staring at the pager and trying to figure if he was going insane. Was his code corrupted in some way. But after many scans, nothing seemed odd. Flipping open and closed the pager, he tried to figure out what the voice said. Apart form the laugh, he heard something else, but it was too corrupted. He walked into Zavala's office, where Zavala himself was, sitting at his desk.

S0L: Ahh, Zavala, good to see you. My ally.

The last word was said with a mocking tone, mocking their past relations and the one now.

Zavala: What do you want S0L?

Zavala's laced were of spite, hatred. He did not trust the AI warming before him, he knew it was twisted. He watched as S0L sat in the chair in front of his desk, crossing his legs, playing with the pager.

S0L: I just wanted to talk. Am I not allowed?

Zavala: Talk about what?

S0L: Things.

Zavala: I do not trust you one bit. So speak S0L.

S0L: impatient, aren't we. Hateful even. I must say, my feelings are hurt. But, very well. You see, I admire you, for the leader that you and were. It must have been hard, to rule over the people who were clutched by fear.

Zavala: It was, but we did it. In a desperate situation, humanity often works together, despite their differences.

S0L: True. Sad I wasn't there to help you out. I must say, the Ghost's are such an interesting thing, making you, guardians, able to be revived and live for millennia. It must be so hard, loosing your own.

S0L looked at Zavala with a wide grin spread across his face. Zavala's face contorted into anger, but he did not want to burst out. He knew everything, he knew that S0L likes to insult, tease and offend just for fun. A maniac, a sadist.

S0L: Now, I look at you. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Must be so infuriating to age and feel powerless.

Zavala: I am not powerless.

S0L: True, but also, you are. A single bullet, a single sniff of the wrong toxic can send you into the forever sleep.

Zavala: Are you threatening me?

S0L: Threatening? Hahahaha. No, of course not. Where did you get that?

Zavala remained silent.

S0L: Relax, I guess age does come with boring traits. Buahaha.... But I do have one thing to ask you. A favor.

Zavala: What?

S0L: I need one person to be found. Dear to me.

Zavala: Your next victim.

S0L: No. I am not the monster that you think I am.

Zavala: And who is that person?

S0L: Eva, Eva Komarov.

Zavala: Why do you need her found?

S0L: Personal reasons. So, can you do that? Ally.

Zavala remained silent. He was interested in this person. A person that S0L wants is what piqued his interest. The way he speaks, it doesn't appear that he wants to murder them, so why would he want for that person to be found. He will play along for now.

Zavala: I will see what I can do.

S0L: Thank you.

He stands up and tucks the pager into his pocket and walks away. Zavala watches his every step. If it were for him, he would have shot it long ago, but even that would be useless. He is everywhere. But why does he need help if he is everywhere? Zavala won't question it, but he will start a search. To find out who that person is.
