V
Anastasia (Ana) went out into the wild, to clear out her mind. Away from the city, she put herself in danger by doing this, but she needed it. All this talk about S0L, it made her angry. Same things were going on with Rasputin. She believes deep down, as was with Rasputin, that S0L is simply misunderstood. She roamed the empty streets of ruined city of Moscow. Where once people lived and enjoyed their lives, where families spent time with their children, watched them grow up, now a desolate empty land filled with abandoned cars, tanks and skeletons. She was one the once famous red square, looking around, thinking of what was and could have been. A dreadful sight, it brings about despair at the simple thought of how far humanity had fallen. As she kept walking she notices something. A thin line of the cobbled road, too perfect, too straight and refined to be a simple crack. She follows it, then it turns right, then right again, then once more right, returning back, forming a perfect square. She climbs onto a single wreck and watches the lines, it is a fairly large square. It would not be there without a reason. The spacing it soo clean, either it was used or maintained by someone recently. She leans down to inspect the material underneath, it is stainless steel which shouldn't be under a rode. She begins to look around, trying to figure out what it is and maybe even open it. She looks for maybe half an hour, if not more, but finds nothing. Just as she is about to give up though, she notices, near the door itself, a smaller square. She kneels down beside it and presses it, wanting to feel , but it startles her as it hisses open. Revealing a small console screen with a handprint She takes off her glove and presses her hand against the cold glass. It scans and it dings. Soon followed up by a large thud which scares her further. The cobbled floor lowers and splits into four smaller pieces that retreat beneath the ground to the side. It reveals a heavy looking hatch door and with a loud hiss, large pneumatic pistons open the hatch up.
It reveals a large stairway leading deep down underground. Jinju appears beside Ana.
Jinju: What is that?
Ana: I don't know. Maybe a bunker?
Jinju: Should we investigate it?
Ana: You know me. Of course we are.
As Ana begins her decent downwards, the hatch behind them closes, followed up by the large thud. She grabs her Braytech RWP Mk. II and makes her way further down, the facility is still illuminated well, meaning there is power. The walls are of concrete, the stairs of simple metal, but such heavy hatch is not used normally for simple bunkers. And why would this one still have power. There must be someone inside. She comes up to a heavy metal door. She turns the large valve and the door swings open, it's width is probably around half a meter of pure steel. As she steps through, her eyes widen. It leads into a heavily advanced corridor, a stark contrast to where she came from. She walks through the empty hallways, the glass doors hiss open as she approaches them. In the distance she could hear classical music being played, something Rasputin would do frequently.
Jinju: I don't like this. What is this facility?
Ana: I have no clue. There are no mentions of it anywhere in the database's we have. Whatever it is, it is important enough for it to still be working. Approaching a single door metal door at the end of the hallway, she came across a rather strange and new symbol. It hanged above the door.
She never saw it before.
Jinju: Hands hugging the Sun?
Ana: I have never seen such a symbol. Maybe it is some sort of cult?
Jinju: No cult would be able to create such a facility.
Ana: I don't know. Just throwing a guess out.
The doors swing open, revealing a large corridor connecting many sets of doors. She walks through, stepping inside every room. Some are living quarters, some recreation facilities and even cantina's and some look like labs. They approach one of the screen in one of the labs.
Ana: You know what to do.
Jinju hacks into the console.
Jinju: Fascinating.
Ana: What is it? Did you find anything?
Jinju: The logs here mention of a research project. Dubbed "Helios".
Ana: Is there anything?
Jinju: It reads:
We have come across Helios deep in the lake of Baikal,
pulled it for scientific research. It radiates unknown energy.
From further research and study of the large object we have noticed a few peculiarities.
Firstly, biological subjects, scientist and staff that were exposed to it for too long
would eventually turn into grotesque masses of flesh and skin, still aware and alive.
Thankfully Clovis Bray built the Exo which thanks to we were able to study the object
without any further grotesque incidents. Secondly
the Helios seemed to disrupt the magnetic fields around and gravity itself
which resulted in us having to bolt some of the large objects to the ground. The surface of it is liquid, a unknown liquid, constantly flowing but never dripping onto the floor. We do plan on researching it further, we hope it will yield to some interesting results.
Ana: Fascinating, I wonder what it is.
Jinju: It sounds dangerous.
Ana: If what is true, I won't be able to approach it, or... I actually will. Considering what I am. Let's go and see what it is.
They continue on their way, walking further, exploring the facility. It seems to have been abandoned neatly, there is no sign of struggle, all where it should be. Not a spec of dust which is odd, considering the amount of time that probably passed. Their exploration would eventually lead them to a massive vault door, reinforced.
Ana: That must be where the object is.
Jinju: Must be. Shall I hack the console?
Ana nods and Jinju sets to work and after a while. each hinge begins to slowly release. One by one, they hiss as they let go and eventually the door rolls open, revealing a large room with a massive ball.
Ana: That must be it. Helios.
They step forward, immediately feeling the difference, as well as seeing it. They see objects float around, the surface of the object is, as stated, a wrinkly black and dark dark green color. There is a sense of unease as she looks at it, imposing, silent, yet, she could feel it's presence. Lingering on her skin. She floats towards it, touching it. It deforms under her fingers, but doesn't let through. She let's go of the surface as she feels sick and looks past it. Behind it, in a separate larger room, diving them and it is a large window that offers a glimpse inside. In said, room, is a production line, clearing building something ambitious and large. She can see that a housing had already been built for Helios, the size would imply so.
Jinju: Look over there.
Ana looks over into the distance, it is a Red Legion warship, it seems to have been modified extensively. Ana saw rails leading under the ship, connected to the large housing and further traveling to the control room where they are at.
Ana: What is going on? Why is there a Cabal warship here?
Jinju: I can only imagine that Helios will be somehow used with the use of that ship.
Ana: We need to report this to Zavala, immediately. I don't like this. Not one bit.
Jinju: Let's get out of here.
Ana is more than happy to oblige and they start running, retracing their steps. Once on the surface they summon their ship and fly away. Ana's mind races with all the possibilities at what might be happening. That object, she felt it before, it strangely felt like darkness, but not entirely. Something is odd happening here and if anyone knows what to do, it is Zavala.
