Chapter Eight

Merida didn't know how much time had passed. With nothing to do, she just stared at her reflection. They brought no food, but that was okay because she really didn't need to eat.

And so she waited. She really got sick of her face, which was saying something.

Waiting.

Waiting.

Waiting.

The wall opened, and Sandy walked in. He smiled and waved.

Merida did nothing.

Sandy sighed, and a ball of sand appeared in his hand. He gave Merida an apologetic look, and threw it at her face.

Merida awoke in these same room.

"What was that?" She said.

Hello, Merida. This is the only way that I can speak to you without interference.

"Is this a dream?"

Yes. Your cell has cameras, and this is a prime way of getting past that. They can't put cameras in your head, can they?

"I-I guess so."

Sandy smiled. I'm glad that you understand.

"Not really."

Oh, well. Do you know why I'm here?

"No, ye haven't really told me that yet."

True, true. I'm here to bust you out.

Merida couldn't help it. She burst out laughing. "And why am I supposed to believe ye?"

Because I'm the only Guardian without corruption.

"What do ye mean?"

Several years ago, when Jack became a Guardian, Pitch Black attacked. With him came nightmares, leading to the children not believing in them. He actually killed me, but with the belief of several children, I was reborn.

The others didn't fare so well. Jack escaped unscathed, because he had gotten his first believer there. But, being so used to being believed by the whole world, North, Bunny and Tooth wanted to make sure that never happened again.

"Why do they care so much about being believed in?"

A Guardian's power is in belief. The more beliIef, the stronger that they are. I will admit, that at times I did want more power, but ever since the children returned me, I have focused more on them, and less on me.

So, as these past three years have passed, North, Tooth and Bunny have been wanting to get back to the same belief level of before, and they are willing to risk anything except for the children to do so.

"Why are ye telling me this?"

Someone needs to do what's right. Hopefully, by getting Rapunzel back, their levels of corruption will go down, but it will take time.

"Okay. How are ye going to bust me out?"

Sandy smiled. Do you remember a certain bear that was left behind in Scotland?

Cleaned up and outfitted with her weapons, Merida motioned for Sandy to open one of the two doors. She opened the other, and entered a cell like her own, except this one was dry and hot.

"Princess?"

Merida turned around to see Jack in a corner, no staff. "Hello, Frosty."

"What are you doing here?"

"Busting ye out. No time to explain, but we're going to get Rapunzel back."

Jack sat up. "I'm going to need my staff."

"Sandy has it. Come on, we've already wasted too much time."

Merida held out her hand, and Jack grabbed her arm, and hauled himself up.

"What are you waiting for?" he said. "Let's get outta here!"

They left the cell and saw Hiccup and Sandy waiting for them. Symbols flashed above his head.

"Thanks, Sandy. Yeah, how are we getting out?" Jack said.

Sandy pointed to big, glass double doors that were underwater. A penguin swam past them, and was eaten by a seal.

"Yup, sure, let's get past the killer seal and freezing  water. Are we going to turn into glaciers to escape?" Hiccup asked.

He received flat looks from all of them. More symbols flashed above Sandy's head.

"Björn? He's here?" Jack asked.

"Björn?" said Merida. The large black bear strolled around the corner, and when he saw Merida, tackled her to the ground. He started scolding her in Bear

"I can't understand a word you're saying, Björn. I don't speak Bear."

He smiled, and got off of her.

Sand symbols flashed above the small man's head, and Jack said, "Seriously?"

Sandy nodded.

"Uh, Sandy says that Björn can create a warm air bubble around us as he swims out of... Was it Antartica? Yeah, Antartica and to... Mount Chimborazo, th closest place to, did you say Sola?"

Sandy nodded.

Merida gasped, and fell to the ground. Images of battles, blue lights, and the sun filled her vision. Do not come to me yet, a woman's voice said. You are not ready. Find my handmaiden and return her soul to her. Only then can you come into my presence. Good night, my warrior. I am taking your memories for a reason. Sleep well.

"We can't go to the mountain," Merida gasped. "Too dangerous."

"Are you all right?" asked Hiccup.

"I'm fine. We need to get Rapunzel back."

"Well, yeah," Jack said, but he didn't get to finish.

"Get on Björn. We need to go." She kneeled down so that she was at Sandy's level. "Thank you," she whispered. He shooed her, and she got onto Björn, eight behind his head, the two guys behind her.

Sandy opened the glass doors, and Björn stepp d into the cold water, and with his air bubble around them, started swimming.

A/N: Okay, so the picture at the top has NOTHING to do with the ROTBTD fandom. I just found it last night and it is, well, amazing, so I thought that I would post it here. And, it wouldn't hurt you guys to tell me what to think of it (or anything in this story either) in the comments. (Oh, and the little white/brown things are guinea pigs. I checked.)

I hope that you enjoyed this latest (and late) installment of my ROTBTD thing, and don't forget to vote, comment and have a FABULOTASTIC time reading!!!
