Chapter 42

Daniel

"You can't be serious?" I snapped. "She helped abduct you, for fuck's sake! What makes you think she will help you get your real memories back?"

"And so did Ash," Serenity bit back. "He thought he was saving me. Did you ever consider that Genevieve thought the same thing?"

My shoulders dropped. Dammit, I hate it when she's right. I nodded to Garen, "Fine, make the call." He smirked, knowing our Eternal had gotten the upper hand with me once again, then sauntered off to find Matt. I turned back to my very pregnant wife and pulled her against my chest, purring, "You realize that while you're logic is sound, I feel obligated to punish you for disagreeing with me, Ren."

Her breathy laughter against my neck made my cock twitch. "You just like making up reasons to spank my ass."

I chuckled, "True, so true."

The three of us sat on the couch, mine and Garen's hands on Ren's belly, feeling the babies kick when Matt came in with a very pissed of Genevieve. "Delivery!" he grimaced. "I'd say she came willingly, but as you can see, that isn't the case."

"Get your cold, dead hands off me, you oaf!" Genevieve screamed at him.

"Gladly." He pushed her forward as her eyes began to widen.

"What...Why are you here?" she screamed at Ren. "Where's Asher...what the fuck did you do to him?" In a flash, her hands were raised as a flood of magic flew at us. I threw myself over Serenity instantly, feeling the burn of her magic against my back. I felt Garen shift forward toward the witch and heard her muffled cry.

"Daniel, are you okay?" Ren gasped as I moved off of her. "Your back!" Her eyes were wide as she tentatively reached out to touch the blackened flesh.

I winced, but tried to assure her, "I'll be fine, my love. Are you unharmed...the babies?"

"We're fine, but, Garen?" We both turned in shock to see our husband restraining Genevieve with a magical force field of sorts. He had a triumphant smirk on his face.

"Look, no hands," he chuckled like a kid.

"But how?" Ren sputtered.

"Guess the bond is increasing all our powers," he shrugged. "Now, could someone get the crazy witch to calm down? This is actually a bit difficult."

Ren shook her head, then turned to me and hummed with an odd expression before placing her hands on the burns. I felt a cooling sensation and then let out a sigh of relief. "You healed them."

She winked, "I took a leap of faith that if my husbands are getting new skills, I might have a few as well."

"Will someone tell me what the absolute fuck is going on here?" Genevieve demanded, hands on her hips as she looked through the waves of Garen's magic. "What the hell happened since Asher took you, and where is he?"

"That's why we need to talk to you," Garen told her. "If you will give us a few moments to explain before trying to kill us, we need your help."

"Ash needs your help, too," Ren added, her voice pleading.

"You...you remembered him," the witch sputtered. Her body crumpled to the floor. "I won't fight, please just tell me where he is."

Be prepared, Garen mind-linked us as I moved a bit in front of Ren again, and he lowered the barrier. However, true to her word, Genevieve did nothing further but instead waited for us to tell her the details. The three of us recounted the events from when she and Asher had come to take Ren back to Faire, then we explained what we had also learned from Dahl.

"So let me get this straight...you were actually in Faire most of the time getting mind fucked by some old geezer, then Danu - the Goddess Danu betrays the entire Elven race by trying to turn you into a zombie battery, and then when Asher lets you go she bound him in the ground?" She's practically pulling her hair out as she speaks, tears falling down her cheeks.

"Yeah, um, that's a fairly succinct retelling," Ren said.

Genevieve's entire body seems to hums as she seethes, "I'm going to rip that bitch apart!"

"Take a number, sister!" Ren snorts, making Genevieve freeze, her eyes bouncing between us. Ren smiles as she takes each of our hands, "I can see it in your eyes, Genevieve. He's your mate, isn't he?" She nodded her head slowly, letting a sob escape her throat. In a blur, our Eternal is on the floor with her, cradling her as she cries.

"Well, I didn't have that on my bingo card," Garen snorts, "Did you?"

"Nope, witch as a sister-in-law was not on the list," I chuckled. "At least it helps with alliances. Maybe the Witch Council will support us even more now."

Genevieve lifted her head, pulling away from Ren for a bit. "They will. Asher and I had to keep our, um, romance hidden from Faire, but the coven is in full support. However, even with their support, this will still be difficult. We can work on locator spells for Danu, but you three need to unify your powers. It will take all three of you to stop her. Even then..." she trailed off, a haunted look in her eyes.

"Hey, don't go there. We will get him back," Ren assured her. "However, before we do that, I need your help recovering my memories. Something has been nagging in the back of my mind since speaking with Dahl. It's like there's something I should remember that they took from me, some way to end all of this once and for all."

"I'll do it," Genevieve said firmly as we helped both women to their feet. "No better time than the present to start."

Author's Notes:  Only 3-4 more chapters to go.  I'm sorry, I didn't meet my goal by the end of May.  I'm teaching a mini-term in June, and it's more than I bargained for...
