That was a stupid mistake. I should have been watching more closely to see if someone was in the hall. But firstly why are they even here? I didn't want to hurt the boy that came looking for me. I didn't want to ruin that pretty vase by hitting him in the head with it. And I deffinently didn't want to hide him. As I was bounding his hands behind his back, I heard someone coming.
“Afanasi, do you know to swim?" Came an accented voice. I had to hide, and fast. I ran into the closest door as the boy came around the corner.
“Afanasi!" He ran up to him, I could tell by the sound that his feet made. “Are you okay?" As I thought, there was no response. I had knocked him unconscious. “Uh... What I do, what I do?" I realised he couldn't speak English very well. Who are these people? I heard him struggle to get the binds off of his wrist, then pull him down the hall, calling out for someone to help with his ascent.
When he was farther away, I left the room. I went through a secret passage I found a while back, and came to the third floor. I walked as quietly as I could, so the floors wouldn't creak. I found the room I wanted, and escaped into it. I closed the door behind me. I was in a bedroom. There were long windows with curtains covering them, so the room was darker. On a wall there was a big bookcase full of books for teens, and next to it a desk. On the next wall was a door that lead to a bathroom, and another that lead to a closet. I looked over to the bed. it was unmaid. I made that bed this morning. Someone was in here, and they were about to open the bathroom door. I ran over t the closet door and escaped into. I closed the door as soon as the other person open the bathroom's. That was a close one. I heard as they climbed into the bed, and then it sounded like pages turning. The person was reading. I grabbed a black long-sleeve shirt from the closet and put it on. I already had dark jeans on. It was almost night, so the room would soon be dark enough to escape it. Or I could scare this person, making them leave instead of me. I liked that idea better. I grabbed an old CD player from the back of the closet, and an old instrumental CD, and put it in. I didn't play it yet. I also found a kit to make fog that has never been used before. As quietly as I could, I made some of the fog stuff. Actually as much as I could.
With my fog ready to escape the closet, I started to play the CD. I sure hope this works. I opened the door slowly, and turned the bright closet light on behind me, so whoever was in the bed couldn't see my face very well. I finally opened the door all the way. The person on the bed was a girl. She sat straight up, with her eyes wide starring at me. Then the look of being frightened of me went away. She squinted her eyes at me trying to make out my face.
“Is it really you?" She asked. I didn't answer her. I couldn't believe it was her. Then my flight, or fight instincts set in, and I couldn't hurt her. As the fake fog twirled around my ankles, she got up. I couldn't let her see me, well not up close. She'd recognition me from school. So like a coward that I am, I ran. I ran right out of the room, and down the hall to the secret compartment. I jumped in, and I locked eyes with her.
“I'm sorry." I mouthed at her. Then I was gone. I can't stay at this house any longer. So I left. I took off in the setting sunlight, hopefully to never see her again.
