It was nighttime when the thought hit me. 

These people, Medora, Maya, Levi, Luara and Aerron are the people I will be spending a lot of my time with for the next five years. 

Years! 

I would be with them for years. Gods, that's a long time. 

I wondered what brought on this sudden thought. It seemed a bit out of the blue for me. But most of my most dramatic and life changing thoughts come at eleven at night. 

Because that was the time. 

Eleven PM. 

After me and Medora had returned our luggage to our pods room we had to go to dinner. Me and Medora sat alone together at a table.

 But we were not the loneliest ones especially after Calvex arrived. 

You remember him right? He was the other claimed of Veers.

 Anyway the loneliest person seemed to be Maya. 

She sat at a table at the far side of the room completely alone. And to make it even worse no one sat at the tables surrounding her table. I would've gone and sat with her but Calvex came and he sort of distracted me for the rest of the time.

 Turns out my first impression of Calvex was right except he was social. Maybe a little too social. 

He was a chatterbox. 

I spoke maybe twice and Medora none. 

Turns out he's from more of the upper-class because his father owns a successful lawyer firm. But his mom doesn't believe in the Elder gods because she was born in Cansteah, our neighbouring kingdom. 

He talked about her a lot. More than his father for sure. 

Anyway, Calvex was into robotic sciences and all that stuff. I wasn't listening to him while he talked about that. But all in all Calvex seems very nice and not some guy who thinks he's smarter and better than the rest of us. 

Then after dinner we went back upstairs. Luara and Aerron went to go meets some friends because it was only seven. Levi went to the boys side pretty quickly after we got back and Maya fell asleep before eight. 

Me and Medora stayed up talking for a long while until Luara returned just before eleven. 

I can't really get a read on Luara. She always seems away with friends from other pods. I can never really talk to her. 

Aerron came by not long after Luara.

 It was now when me and Medora decided to go to sleep. 

Medora's breathing seemed to even out pretty but I couldn't seem to sleep. 

After I thought The Thought I started to get more uncomfortable.

 Then suddenly the feeling of when Veers claimed me filled my body. That feeling of heat swarming inside of me. I just couldn't get it out of my head. 

I moved over to the left side of the bed where it was cooler but it just seemed to get hotter. 

Sweat trickled into my eyes as the blanket seemed to suffocate me.

 My harsh breathing echoed inside my ears. I tried to shove the blanket of but it was tangled in my legs. The heat seemed to get hotter and hotter, burning my core. And on repeat in my head were the words: Alina claimed by Veers. 

The words seemed to get louder with every beat. A giant loudspeaker booming those words over and over again. 

More sweat beaded on my brow.

 I twisted and bended my body in an effort to escape the confining covers. A small whimper past through my lips. The voice if possible seemed to get louder. It pounded into my brain. 

The heat seared my body. In the back of my mind I heard a few faint footsteps. 

Then the words and the heat got stronger and stronger overwhelming my body. I felt ready to pass out. 

Suddenly I felt to cold hands grab my forearms. I tensed, ready to defend myself. But then I heard their voice.

 "Alina? Alina? Are you okay?" It was Maya. 

I used the last bit of my energy to open my mouth and say 

"take the blanket off" 

Maya immediately obeyed. She yanked the blankets off. Cool air rushed at my body. The voice slowly faded along with the heat. 

"Thank you" I murmured. 

"Yeah, . . . okay" Maya said. She looked hesitant. As if she was about to say something but after a few moments she went back to her bed. 

The room was pitch black except for a dim light coming from the bathroom. I listened to everyones breathing to see if I had woken anyone else up. 

Everyones breath sounded normal. 

Good.

 I sat up slowly, still a bit nauseated from the heat. My bare toes touched the cool floor gently, trying to find balance. I pushed myself off of the bed. 

I wobbled for a bit but finally got my balance. I slowly made my way to the bathroom. 

The door creaked as I closed it behind me. 

I grabbed the edge of the countertop. I stared at my face in the dimly lit mirror. 

My messy brown hair. Green eyes that seemed unnaturally bright. Pale freckled skin and a button nose. All average features except for my eyes. 

My bright eyes that always seemed to glow. People said I had cat eyes. The ones were it was the only thing you could see in the dark.

 I reached down and turned on the faucet. I splashed some cold water onto my face, relishing the cold. 

After I stared at my reflection some more I turned off the bathroom light made my way back to my bed. This time I threw the covers off completely. I closed my eyes and sighed. 

Time to sleep for real this time.

Sorry short chapter. Okay every chapter right now I try and sort of introduce a character. This chapter it was Calvex. Next chapter it will be Luara. I love that name. Next chapter her real personality will be exposed. Anyway hope you enjoyed!
