Chapter 14
-Tavyra's POV-
I was much more happier as I went back out to explore what the pack shops had to offer. Getting that off of my chest with him, the most refreshing thing I could think about. As I was walking around the neighborhood shops, I noticed something was off. Everyone around was acting strange and weird. All eyes were on me and everywhere I went there became silence. A young teenage boy came up to me, looking quite frightened, looking around for someone. "He's after you.." He told me.
I looked him in the eye, is that what everybody's freaking out over? "Who is?" Am I some kind of target? Are they talking about Zannic? What'd I do this time?
Before the boy could answer, he saw something behind me and ran off in the other direction. Now I was kinda worried, Zan can be scary some times, but they're only one person I know who can make this entire pack tremble at his mercy. I felt a cold, thick circle at the back of my head. My heart stopped. I didn't know what it was until I heard the gun cock. I instantly froze up.
Rufus came around and stood in front of me, I followed him with my eyes, too scared to move the rest of my body, "Good day, ma'am. Pack officials need to speak with you."
My lower jaw was shaking and I couldn't even take in a breath. Zannic wouldn't put a gun to my head for sure. I was in trouble. I felt the gun push harder against my head, "Listen here, rouge," Alpha Zane growled from behind me, "You're gonna come back with us to have your...trial..." he spat the last word, almost as if he didn't want to say it.
I was going on trail? For what? I stuttered as I spoke, "T-trail for w-what?"
Before Alpha Zane could answer, Rufus answered for him, "You have been...suspected of being rouge..."
My eyes widened. I had to be honest. I was probably about to pee myself right now. "O-on what allegations?"
Alpha Zane chuckled, "Let just say, we have it on tap." My heart dropped. The only way they could've known about it was through Zan. I've never even told Montavius about that. "Come on!" He shoved me around as we headed back to the pack house.
-Zannic's POV-
"Dude! You gotta wake up!"
"Just slap him! We don't have time! Alpha's gonna kill her!" A hard slap woke me from my sleep. Tyson was in my face, a scared, worried look in his eyes as he stared back at me. I was trying to match his worry as Kristy was right behind him looking out the window. I was in the office. It was trashed a mess. Everything that happened came back to me in a matter of second. Father kicking my ass. My whole body was throbbing and I felt nausea to how much pain I was in. That didn't seem to matter with Tyson or Kristy as Tyson was already grabbing me and pulling me to my feet.
"Zan," Kris started to explain, "You look terrible, but your father is out there with a gun to Tavyra's head." The words felt like a burst of adrenaline. I was about to stand up without Ty's help and I busted out of the door and down the stairs. I had a terrible feeling about Dad's intentions. If he was able to throw me around like a rag doll, he has no problem killing her.
Kris and Tyson were right behind me as I jumped down the stairs, "He says she's a rouge?"
I sighed and faced the truth bluntly, "She is." I could hear the stutter in her feet behind me. I didn't have time to explain as I rushed through the back door. A crowd had formed around the pack officials and Tavyra in the center, and as Kristy said, my father with a gun in his hand.
"Members of this pack," my father addressed the crowd, "As Alpha, it is my job to protect you at all costs. And I have to admit I have failed." He stopped for a moment as the crowd took in his words. Tavyra had her head hung, kneeling next to Father, betrayal and pain on her face. My entire body became hot thinking about what he could've done to her. "But that ends now." He cocked the gun and my legs moved forward by themselves.
"Stop!" My voiced carried and all the eyes went to me. I saw a smirk across my father's lip.
"You've done enough, Zan." My father told me. But I wasn't listening to him much. "This isn't about you." He put the gun to her head, she simply shivered in her spot. "This has to end. Now."
I was racking through the pack rules we had in place so the Alpha wouldn't go insane with power, maybe there was something, but I needed time to think, "So you're gonna kill an innocent? On what evidence?"
My father started to laugh, "Are you still trying to act innocent? You ratted out your own mate." Tavyra made eye contact with me and I could see the tears well into her eyes. I got lost in her brown ocean of eyes until they turned away from me. My heart broke. I was a terrible mate. "And it seems like new news to her as well." I stood toe to toe to my father, ready to punch his lights out. "Zan, its for the good of the pack." He tried to reason with me, but I didn't care.
The pack is suppose to be put first, above all else, but I'm not Alpha yet, why does it matter for me?
"So you're not gonna let me have my mate either? At least you spent years with yours."
Once again there was no emotion in my father's eyes, but I honestly think he was just gonna kill me this time. He raised the gun to my chest and with no emotion from my father, there was screaming in the crowd. It wasn't because of my father and I, there was a new source of fear. Snarling, growling, and barking was heard. We both turned towards the crowd and there was an ambush. It was happening again. People were being pinned down and ripped apart. It was a godawful sight to see. The ones who weren't caught off guard was able to transform and fight back against them. How could we not have heard them?
My father turned towards me and growled, himself starting to take form, "This is why we get rid of rouges!" My father yelled. His figure becoming bigger and stronger as he took Tavyra by the neck and lifted her up, addressing her, "You're a traitor and a spy! You should've never come here!" He raised his gun and I couldn't let him do it. I transformed and bounded on him. As we fell to the ground, the gun went off as it slipped from my father's hands. "You idiot!" My father turned while under me and socked me in the face again. The weakness of my body was still apparent as I couldn't hold against him anymore. He was able to push me off much easier this time and I fell into a dizziness pain that made me want to vomit.
I had to lay on the ground for a minute. I couldn't move without the whole world spinning around me. I looked up and saw what was unfolding around us. A group of about 10 male rouges had attacked us. I saw some of the pack members laying on the ground motionless. An older man, his guts were spilling as blood flooded around his body. A young mother, her face in the ground as I could see her spine starting to come out of her body. Under her I could see a small screaming child, yelling for her mother to wake up. The screaming was attracting other rouges to her. I had to get up and save the child.
I dragged my body along the ground, crawling over to the child, she was only 20 more yards away from me, but the rouges were moving faster than I. I wasn't gonna make it in time, no matter how much strength I was putting forward. Right before a rouge was about to attack the child, my father came from nowhere, attacking the rouge and protecting the child. As I watched my father striking the attacker, I was able to see myself in the child. My father was once my protector, my hero. Now...I wish I that Father back in my life.
My father had the rouge in the head lock, standing him up as he tried to choke the rouge out. Father was losing, the rouge was slightly more agile than him. It would only be a matter of time before the rouge got loose. I started to raise my body to go help him, he couldn't do this without me, whether he wanted to admit it or not. As I was able to stand on both of my own two feet, another gunshot rung out. This one seemed to be more deafening than the last ones. I had covered my ears and shut my eyes at the sudden noise, hoping I wasn't in the way.
When my eyes opened up, the rouge my father had head locked, wasn't moving. In fact, blood was pouring out of him like a pitcher. My father let go of the limp body and a thud was heard as it landed in its own piling blood. My father and I gave each other, almost a look of relief. That is was all over. I was stepping towards my father when I noticed he was bleeding in his midsection. He looked down at what had caught my attention and touched the wound. His fingers were soaked with blood. Seeing my father bleed was scary. I was hoping it was the rouge's and not his. I saw the strength drain from his eyes as he fell to the ground. In a burst of energy, I ran over to him.
His breaths were shallow and I made sure to plug the wound and to try and stop it from bleeding further. His grey eyes were soft for once. A look in his eye I haven't seen since Mother was alive. "Dad!" I was yelling at him as his eyelids became heavy, "Don't you dare! You can't leave me!" After all the crap that I've been through with my father, I couldn't bear loosing him. Not right now.
His eyes closed, but his breaths were still shallow, he was hardly breathing. I looked around to find someone who could help me. Anybody. Those who weren't tending to the other injured or dead simply looked on from afar. Even Tavyra, who held my father's gun in her hands, simply watched me. My voice simply got louder and more desperate, "Help me! Somebody! Get the doctor! Don't just stand there!" My voice began to crack, my throat getting dry and painful, trying to swallow away the tears, but it seemed to make it come up even faster.
A felt a few hot tears roll down my cheeks, looking down at my father who was reaching for something with his hand with whatever strength he had left. I quickly gripped my father's hand, looking into his eyes, making sure there was still a sign of life. He groaned silently as he tried to say something, the air that passed his lips almost sounded like my name. "Dad, you have a pack to lead. You can't die." He closed his eyes once more and laid his neck back on the ground.
My stomach clinched as I watched him, I couldn't even tell if he was breathing anymore. I gasped and screamed to the onlookers, "HELP ME!"
