Epilogue

I'd fallen in love with the devil, and nothing but him would taste as heavenly.
-Becca Fitzpatrick

I don't think I've ever felt so large, so on top of the world.

I sit in front of my dad's grave, I know his name by heart. He used to be alive, but now he's not, and for once I don't put that unseasonable blame on myself.

My best friend is happy with her fiance, she's probably off giggling with him somewhere for no reason, his name is Calum Hilton.

He used to be the star boy at our school, now he's just another college kid, we're all just college kid's at this point.

So, same thing as usual.

I trust myself now, and I trust the people around me too.

It's why I got a apartment with them, otherwise the money my dad left me would have gone into a solo home.

And the man across from me is still bad, still feral.

Xavier Wolf is still the Devil, people haven't forgotten who he is just because he grew up a little.

But now, he doesn't let it affect him.

As much as he's their devil, he's my Wolf boy.

I discovered why I felt the way I did, because every time he looks at me his eyes dilate and he nearly does a double take...like he's seeing me for the first time.

We still run around campus, or random parts of the town and take pictures together. We're still partners.

Just like how we met.

I am never scared of Xavier or his hell fire -he still stares at me.

And, of course, we're still annoyed by Jessamine and Cal's constant gooey looks.

Even if we're just as annoying.

Everything is silent, until the Devil growls attractively under his breath. "Get it on with Princess, my ass is starting to hurt from sitting on the ground so long."

"Getting tired or old, Wolf." I ask, making him scowl and glare at me.

"Tired of your shit, Carter."

Annoyed people.

Bah.

"I found it." I say quietly to my dad, laying down on the damp grass as I look to the sky. "I found my home."

I also found it.

After two years of searching- -through a undeniable crush, having my heart felt like it was stepped on, wanting to kill myself, then not wanting to kill myself, a boyfriend, a risky stunt, two bloody knuckles, a trip to jail and a very mad boyfriend -through sex, kissing, showers and biting -through a few visits to dead people, singing my heart away, then more kissing and why-not's- -I found it.

I found a word stronger then fuck.

Now sure, fuck is a very good words for different situations...with a lot of different context.

But love is sure a hell of a lot stronger, especially when it comes to the Devil.

No pun intended.

"Jessamine said before I even realized it was possible, that Xavier was my soulmate. Originally I swore she was insane, or started smoking something she wasn't supposed to." At this Xavier chuckles silently beside me. "But then I started to think about it and maybe she was right, because he's safe. He's the safest place I could be Dad, and he feels like my home. I think that's what a soulmate is, who no matter where you are, you hug them and you're home."

"So cheesy..." The Devil mutters, I smack him in the side of the head before turning back to the grave -ignoring the way his sharp teeth flash dangerously.

"I wanted to come here, before I did anything that would mess with my home. Dad I think you'd give me the strength to do this." I say, hands shaking lightly.

The smirk falls off of my Wolf boy's face, as he lets out a growl, one that is a warning to whatever stupid thing I'm about to do.

"Emma-"

"Shut up real quick Zay." I snap. "I'm talking to my dad."

"Yeah, about me." He says indignity.

"My point stands." I reply.

"So does mine." He mutters, crossing his arms with a sexy glare.

"Keep thinking that."

"I will."

"Anyway moving on, before I'm interrupted." I send Xavier a pointed look. He flips me off, but I don't think anything of it. I can't believe this is the guy I'm about to propose to. Fuck. But it's for love, so my nerves don't matter. "I needed to come here, because before him you were the only home I ever knew. The only safe spot. I want that with him, permanently, and not just because I can't have it with you. But I really, really don't want to fuck this up."

"You won't fuck anything up Princess," Xavier says, soothing me since my dad can't. "Just do what you need to."

I look at him, sighing deeply.

He tilts his eyes, blue eyes shining is question. I nod my permission, loving it when his hand wraps around my waist and he sweeps me into his lap like I weigh nothing.

"Kiss please." I say.

He grins at my request, and it's feral.

Then his lips are on mine, just a small kiss but it makes heat coil inside me and for me to relax against his chest.

At the end my knees are on either side of his hips and he's smirking, eye flashing to my dad's grave. "If he was alive, I think I'd be dead.

"One can only hope," I say, pretending to sigh dreamily and looking to the stone as well.

"So rude." He mutters, placing a small kiss to the crook of my neck before a teasing bite. "What should I do with you?"

"Nothing like that here." I tell him, blocking his lips with my finger -but he just kisses that too. "I have a proposition for you."

This sentence makes his head snap up, meeting my eyes with the blue blazing. "Is this a good proposition or a bad one? More than seven minutes in heaven, I hope."

"You're the Devil," I say, teasing him. "Be lucky you got seven minutes. This is a good thing -hopefully."

He raises a eyebrow, tilting his head. "Hopefully?"

I scrunch up my nose, shrugging slightly. "Can you close your eyes?"

My Wolf boy bites his lip but does it anyway.

I shakily stand, picking up my coat from the ground and ruffling through the pockets before I pull out the small box. I flick it open, taking a deep breath before I stand in front of him again- it in my palm.

The ring I got him is a silver and blue diamond, simply cut with the head of a wolf howling.

He told me once, how much he loves rings like this.

I don't think he knew I practically raced to a wedding ring jeweler the next day, and had this made along with his actual wedding ring- -in hopes he says yes- -that is a blue diamond and silver moon, that fits above the wolf perfectly.

"I love you Xavier," I say, making his eyes open and then widen an impractical amount. "Be my home forever, please."

He surprises me, and makes my heart drop, when he lets out a defeated groan and falls onto his back.

The Devil.

Bah.

"Okay um..." I say, closing the box. "I really couldn't think of anything better to say and I'm sorry that -Umph!" I cry out in surprise when his hands snap up, grabbing my hips so fast that I have choice but to land on him.

I blink, taken aback that I'm suddenly straddling him.

"I hate you so much right now." I groans, tears prick at my eyes.

"B-but what did I do...it's just a ring. You don't, you don't have to say yes." I stammer, suddenly hating the small box in my hand.

I was really hoping he wouldn't react this way.

"You idiot," Xavier snaps. "Of course I want to marry you -Just. Fuck. Look." He removes one hand from my waist to fish in his pocket. I gasp at the sight of another small velvet box, sending a small tear down my cheek. "I was gonna take you to Heaven and propose there. You ruined it."

"I r-ruined it?" I ask, still shaking as the panic leaves me. "You're the one who collapsed into a groaning mess on the ground after I asked you to marry me. You're the idiot, you giant uncultured wolf man!"

"I am not a giant uncultured wolf man!" He shouts back, huffing at me. "Now, do you want to marry me or not?"

"I was gonna get there. Then you started groaning like a old man." I snap, glaring at him. "I proposed first I get to ask that question. Except mine isn't a question it's a proposition."

"Fine," He rolls his eyes. "Ask away." Xavier's large thumb wipes away the tear, his features instantly softening as he sees how much his reaction actually affected me. "Just don't cry, please."

"I'll try not to, asshole." I mutter the last word, but the sharp teeth suddenly embedded into one of my wrists tell me it obviously wasn't soft enough. My body tenses around Xavier, but I'm determined to keep talking through the pleasure-pain mix.

"You get married to me," He gulps. "And I marry you."

"Alright -how long until the wedding?" He asks, voice breathy -almost as if he can't believe this is happening.

The relief that floods me is instant.

Holy shit, I'm marrying the Devil!

Life goal: Accomplish.

"For as long long as it take, but within five years, at least. This is finally a conversation that isn't weird when being planned." I say, giggling lightly.

"Princess there isn't anything about you that isn't weird," My fiance says, much to my misfortune. "But never mind that. Do you want to see your ring?"

I squeak at this, practically lunging for the box.

The asshole laughs at how excited I am, but willingly hands it over before taking his own from me.

"Damn Emma, this is perfect." Xavier says after a moment of silence with his ring already on. I'm so glad that it fits.

Blushing I giggle a little, looking at my own perfect ring. "Thanks." Examining it more, I realize that it's a dragon -just like the one around my neck but made out of diamond with the head and tail holding the main stone. "This is beautiful, put it on, put it on."

Xavier roll his eyes at my demand, but takes the ring from the box and then delicately slides it on my fingers. "Perfect fit." He smiles, making his dimples pop out.

I make a show of poking them, then waving my ring in his face while bouncing lightly. "We're getting married!"

"I know." He laughs, holding my waist. "And Princess, you bouncing on top of me really isn't doing wonders for my imagination."

"Enough about that." I squeal. "Imagine our wedding."

"Right now I'm imagining what comes after the wedding." The Devil smirks. "I've always told you you look great naked, but damn."

"Shut up!" I slap his chest, feeling myself flush. "You're so annoying."

"Whatever, you're marrying me. That means you choose me specifically, to annoy you for the rest of your life." My face falls at his statement, but I'm quickly grinning again.

I just can't get over it.

We're getting married.

"Xavier," I whisper. "We're getting married. We're getting married, can you believe that? Me and you. We're going to be husband and wife."

"That's the best part Princess, being your husband I mean." He smirks. "And you totally stole my thunder."

I gasp. "I did no such thing."

"I have a proposition for you. You shut up, and I kiss you." I roll my eyes at him, but lean down anyway.

Hell fire encases me, and I could not think of a better way to spend the night with the Devil.

!!! Update:

I am rewriting/rewrote the Devil!

Honestly the content is a lot better but its not finished yet. I wrote this OG when I was really young and didnt know anything or proper grammar.

But now The Devil is back and better than ever!

Seriously guys, please go check it out, you guys will be able to tell the stark difference in writing capabilities from my 12/13 year old self to my almost 17 year old self now.

Here's the new description:

Simply put, this story is about a boy who calls himself the Devil and a girl who has gone through hell.

Being 'happy' doesn't come as easy to Emma Carter as the people around her tell her it should. There's glimpses of it, there's things she finds funny, but actual happiness? She wasn't sure if that existed. Healthy coping mechanisms were never something she was taught, even after trauma and grief change her daily life.

To say the very least, Emma Carter was reckless with her own life.

That wasn't exactly something that Xavier Wolf liked.

The Wolf boy, true to his name, was a feral force of nature not many liked to taunt. While his mouth got him in trouble and his fists got him arrested, his heart earned him the girl that sat in the back of his photography class, even if he's convinced he's no good for her.

A girl Xavier knew he'd protect, even when the worse of his dark thoughts came to pass.

That's without knowing about the darkness in Emma's own mind.

***

"I'm at the point of exhaustion in my life, where I need a stronger word than fuck." Emma sighs, cheek resting on her fist.

Xavier Wolf smirks, leaning back in his chair. "Aren't you adorable."

***

Anyway,

I will probably end up doing this for the Wolf as well (the sequel to this) as I feel that has very immature writing as well and might even edit the Baby before continuing as is right now.
