Chapter Twenty-Four
In the Deep South, the Devil is a beautiful boy who swears and cheats at on Sunday. He's the one who reaches up your skirt and lights your prayers on fire with his tongue.

"This is a deep pool for you." Xavier mumbles, me having gotten down once I started to feel dizzy from being up so high.
Tall boyfriends.
Bah.
I glare up him. "It's only six feet deep. You're taller than that."
"But you'd drown in the five foot section." He says, eyes twinkling in amusement -the blue reflection from the water making his dark eyes come alive. "All this worry is what I get for dating a midget."
Scoffing, I scowl at him.
When I look down, the edge of the pool we're standing on gives me a idea, but not a good one.
Taking a breath to prepare myself I quickly shove my boyfriends large chest as hard as I could, my Wolf boy gives a startled cry before completely falling back into the water with a loud splash.
My giggling is cut short when I'm winded, having been thrown over a large shoulder with my thigh and arm being held in a tight grip. In seconds Cameron is in front of the latter, making my whole body go rigid and all my fighting cease.
I'm shaking by the time he reaches the top, and even though it's only seven feet high I still feel the fear of being in the air.
"Hey! Cam, you need to come back down." Jessamine yells. "She's afraid of heights."
"I know, that's why I'm doing this." Cam cackles back.
"Not cool dude." The Angel says. "Not cool at all."
"Put her the fuck down," Xavier growls. "Or I swear to god I will hurt you."
"Swearing to god, isn't that a little ironic devil boy?" He antagonizes my boyfriend. Wrong move. "And this is punishment for helping this evil spawn when she was clearly in the wrong."
"She's my girlfriend, I'll help her no matter what and I will break your fucking nose if you don't put her down." The Devil promises, and I feel Cam temporarily tense against me.
"Down you say?" Cameron says, smugness filling his voice. "Okay."
I'm lifted in the air, his hands staying on me for mere seconds before I'm falling. My breath catches in my throat as my eyes squeeze tighter, and then I'm under the water.
My butt touches the bottom, making me realize the force he must have thrown me with.
The shock and fear still catching up to me, all my oxygen leaves my lungs and I struggle not the inhale as my limbs clumsy from adrenaline make it hard for me to swim.
Large hands wrap around my waist and I'm pulled through the water with force, I break the surface.
Heat encases me as I'm pressed into a chest, one that gives off a deep rumble.
Xavier's hell fire.
I'm safe now.
But I'm still shaking and gasping air in my stinging lungs, even if my mind has gotten over the fear, my body hasn't and panic still grips me.
"You're okay Emma, I got you." His deep voice instantly helps me calm down. Xavier brushes all my hair buries his face in my neck, kissing the skin at the hallow of my throat. "I promise you're safe."
I shakily pull away from him, letting him lower me down. We stand in the deep end, where Cameron through me in, so he has to pick me up but like always he takes my weight like a champ.
"Can I kiss you?" I ask, looping my arms around his neck in order to press us closer.
"As long as you want to, and it can calm you down." He agrees, eyes searching mine. "Okay?"
Nodding I move my hand to the back of his head, pushing it down so our lips can meet.
This time I know who started it, and for once it was me.
I'm guessing he got tired of only touching me where he was holding me up at the hips while I was upset, and lift me up more until I could wrap my legs around his waist. The Devil grins into the kiss, holding me up with a arm under my thighs and his other hand stabilizes me and crushes me to his chest.
"Ow!" Cameron shouts, we hear a loud smacking sound before another one of his girlish screams.
Xavier only kisses me harder, determined not to let the large splash of what that signals my cousin falling into the pool end something that was meant to comfort me.
But knowing that someone probably hit him, then shoved him off the latter while he was in pain, and the fact that it's probably my best friend, is enough to comfort me and make me giggle -making him unable to continue kissing me.
"Emma." He groans, scolding me.
"Thanks Jessamine!" I shout over my shoulder rather than apologizing.
"No need to thank me, I love invoking pain on what is now my mortal enemies because someone hurt you." Jessie says with a shrug, eyeing my position. "You guys are honestly too much."
"Nah, not us." Xavier says, his grin feral.
And I realize why a second later, Cam is still under water but he can hold his breath for a full minute.
So no sympathy.
"What did you do to him?"
"Kicked him in the nut and shoved him over board." Jessamine explains, a smirk spread widely on her lips. "He totally deserved it. Dude turned as pink as his hair."
I giggle, holding a fist over my mouth.
"I'm dating a sadist." Cal randomly says from his spot in the hot tub. The Angel likes to stay warm, but the Devil has his hell fire. "Totally worth it."
"You're whipped man." Xavier says with a chuckle.
Calum scoffs, giving his best friend a once over while I'm still hanging off him like a koala. "If I'm whipped then you're shackled."
This has the smirk falling off my Wolf boy's face.
My bestie suddenly takes off, jumping over us with the cry from The Lion King before she splashes down in the water.
Right on a surfacing Cameron.
I suck in a breath, grimacing slightly. "That had to hurt."
Beside me the Devil laughs at Cam's misfortune, still obviously mad at him.
"Guys," Cal says, directing our attention off the two idiots who surface and instantly start fighting. "You should do a contest or something. See who can hold their breath the longest. I heard you singing the other day Emma," He says, making me instantly flush. I don't sing around anyone, so this must have been when him and Jessie arrived home and I didn't know about it. "You have a good voice, and can hold a note for so long. But I've never seen anyone beat Zay, you in?"
"Y-you heard me?" I squeak, hands tightening on Xavier's shoulders. "I'm sorry...but um, yeah I'm in."
"You're sorry?" Cal, the Angel, asks, his face a perfect mask of confusion. "Why are you sorry, you sound amazing. I don't know why I've never heard you before, if I had your voice I'd never stop singing."
"I don't, I don't sound that good." I flush deeper, shaking my head. "The contest, yeah?"
Even though I attempted to change the conversation Xavier is still staring at me like I owe him a explanation.
With a shake of my head his lips flash into a feral grin, a promise that he will find out, but will put it aside for now.
"I want to test it in a different way," The Devil says, the grin transforming into a smirk as his blue eyes fix on my lips. "You in?"
I nod.
Because the way he's looking at me, how could I not be?
"Take a breath Princess." Once again my Wolf boy's sharp teeth are on display, reminding me how easily he could mark my skin.
And once again, I'm not afraid.
I do as he says, he does the same before dropping us both into the water.
We sink to the bottom, I blink my eyes open and watch as my brown curls float all around us.
His large hand wraps around the back of my head, and even underwater he's still smirking as he brings me closer. I understand what he's about to do when he tilts his head, asking for permission.
I gladly give it.
With that he smashes our lips together, pulling me even closer to him as his other hand grabs the bottom of the latter to keep up in place.
Taking it slow I keep my hands on the back of his neck, knowing that if it became a open mouth kiss we'd both get a mouthful of water.
To say that would be unpleasant compared to what we're doing now would be an understatement.
Its all too soon when the struggle for air becomes too much and Xavier releases his grip, moving it to my hips instead.
As we break the surface I giggle, pulling away from him to take a breath.
"That was hot, I'm turned on and I wasn't even the one being kissed." Jessie says, making my cheeks redden and climb down from Xavier. She turns to her Angel with a whine, childishly smacking the top of the water. "Why don't we do stuff like that?"
"Because you'd drown." The Devil says, rolling his eyes. "It wouldn't turn you on, you'd die. Cal's horrible in the water.
How does he not get embarrassed as she says those things?
"Not fair." She pouts, it's then I notice Cameron's absence.
"Where'd he go?" I ask, having been really hoping I'd kick his ass in Chicken.
"Inside, wanted to go home and redye his hair. I didn't bother to tell him the pink was permanent." Jessie snickers. "But he'll find out."
"Not even a good bye." I tsk. "How rude."
"New rule." Cal says, taking me surprise by the half smirk and the mischief hidden in his eyes. "Everyone calls him something pink related. I'm unoriginal so I'm sticking with Pinky."
"Bubblegum." I say.
"Cupcake." Jessie says.
"I'm sticking with idiot." My wonderful boyfriend says. "Only a idiot wouldn't realize his conditioner is actually pink hair dye."
"Very true." I nod, laughing a little. "It's sad I'm related to that."
"Agreed."
"Zay there's a creepy guy at the door for you," Jessamine calls down the hall.
"I'll get it." I shout back.
I walk out, patting my hair down with a towel. I'm still in only a bikini and a pair of shorts, since we just got out of the pool, and was about to join Xavier in the shower but I guess I'm answering the door now.
Jessie shrugs and motions for the closed door, I raises a eyebrow and check through the peek hole.
The guy on the other side has goosebumps instantly rising on my side, blanching I take a wide step back.
"Jessamine call the police, tell them Mike Lanton is here and our address. Go to my room and tell Xavier." Suddenly the door handle turns, I realize she left it unlocked -which is odd because even she was intimidated by him. "Run."
She takes off.
