Chapter Five

The group of four looked up from behind a bush. They saw a lot of people walking to the back of the old courthouse in town. The place was falling apart with walls that connected to no roof and broken and burned in other. The back of the place had a stage that had one section of the wall missing. It was mostly open with a few walls sticking up from the ground. Seemed a perfect place to hold an illegal human marketing place. No one seemed to notice this since it was nearly midnight. Most of the town was asleep. They walked to a bush with a better view and started to watch.

An old man stood up and welcomed everyone. He said this was the fiftieth meeting and was proud of it. It made our group disgusted even more. Fifty of these selling poor girls? How come no one saw this before them? The man said today was a very special one because they had finally gotten a prize of a girl. She would be saved for last.

The group watched as girls and boys alike both were pushed onto stage wearing barely nothing and sold off one by one. They didn't know any of the girls. They should have cared more but they weren't important right now. Missy was.

"Now the jewel of the evening," the man said. Lights and eyes were turned onto stage.

Nothing happened.

Everyone waited for a girl to come out. No one did. They finally heard a scream of pain and a man dragged a girl onto the stage. Flug, Demencia, and Black Hat all went wide eyed. It was Missy.

Her black hair was up in a bun that was now a mess. Her makeup was running down her face from sweat and tears. Her legs were bent at funny angles, clearly broken. Her arms were tied behind her. Her short dress torn from trying to run. It made the three sick but the audience laugh.

"Seems to be a fighter," the leader laughed. "Now how much will this pretty thing go for?"

Black Hat stood up and marched over there. Everyone yelling out numbers went silent has he walked past. He knew all eyes were on him. They were scared and surprised eyes on scared and surprised men. He didn't care. He walked right up and grabbed the man who screamed.

"Are you the one in charge?" he asked in a cold voice. At this point Flug and Demencia rushed up to stand on the ground in front of the stage.

"N-no sir... I just call for the girls and boys to be brought out... the one holding the girl is the leader."

Black Hat dropped the man and quickly grabbed the other. Missy fell to the floor with a shriek of pain. But she quickly looked up to watch what would happen. Flug and Demencia helped her sit up. Black Hat turned, to face the audience.

"Run away and never come to this place again," he instructed. "Or else I will find you and you will meet this fate."

No one wants to talk about what happened. Not even Flug, Demencia, and Missy. They just will tell you that something inside Black Hat woke up in that moment. He grew in size and everyone watched the horrific death of the leader. His screams still echo across the town. Everyone was awoken to that sound. It would forever haunt dreams.

Black Hat dropped the man and knelt in front of Missy. She flinched a bit, thinking she was in a greater mess than before. But to her surprise, while the men ran and screamed has did the victims, she received a hug. The three strangers hugged her. She went wide eyed has she relaxed. She didn't expect this. Plus the hugs from the three felt familiar. Almost like family. Almost like...

"Eric? Alex? Lucy?" she whispered, causing the three to look up and nod.

"Hi Missy," Demencia told her, smiling a bit. "Good to see you again."

"We thought we would never find you," Flug admitted. "It really is good to see you."

"We searched forever to find you. Now we have," Black Hat told them. He stood up and smiled. "Now let's ge-"

Before he could finish, a round of bullets were shot into his chest. He went wide eyed, looking down at them. His friends gasped and screamed in horror. I mean they were watching has the police drove up and took aim on Black Hat. That was a lot to see. To everyone's amazement, he was fine. The skin healed around the bullets and they were pushed out.

"That kind of hurt you know," he told the police, turning around. "Has I was saying, let's get out of here."

He rushed forward, taking out the police in a peaceful way for once. Flug ran to a car, starting to hot wire it. Demencia stood in front of Missy, ready to protect her. One cop went around were no one could see him. Black Hat was busy trying to get one cop to call off the attack. Demencia saw this and leaped forward. She grabbed onto the wall and went towards him, crawling like a lizard. She laughed a bit and kicked him right in the face.

"Yes!" she cheered, happy to see that she did have some cool powers.

Flug worked hard on the car, wondering how he knew to do this. After all he never tried to start a car without a key. But here he was, working like his hands and mind knew what to do without telling him. In no time he got the car started, jumping in the driver seat.

"Come on!" he called to his friends. Demencia rushed over and jumped in the back. Black Hat ran to Missy and scooped her up. He than seemed to teleport to the car, putting her in the back before jumping next to Flug.

"Hit it," Missy told him, looking at the police. Flug obeyed and drove off.

To this day no one knows what happened in that place. Some say the devil himself came and destroyed the place. Others say a bunch of teens were just playing a joke that went a little too far. But the police were so confused. A man with gray skin who can take bullets to the heart and not die. That wasn't normal. They just hoped whoever he was, him and his gang never came to the town again.
