My eyes broadened and she says "baby I wanted to tell you as soon as you came into your strengths but then when I was your age all I wanted was to be normal so I had Faith's mother Elizabeth cast a spell on you when you were little so you would forget and bind your abilities when you saved faith from that horse accident I knew then you were special you saw something that day when you touched fancy didn't you?". I nodded at her and she smiles softly at me and I gasp "you did what? you took my abilities away?" I slap her hands away when she tried to calm me down and she says "baby I was only trying to protect you from yourself and I thought I was doing the right thing by protecting you". I glare at her and I spat "bullshit you wanted me to live an ordinary life like you've always expected of me but I'm not ordinary mother I've never felt normal I've always felt like I haven't fit in the regular society and you took my powers away when it wasn't yours to take". When I said those final words I throw my hands by my hips and then I hear a big shatter like glass breaking I turn and see it was my mom's vase she had on her desk with roses. Did I do that? my mom turns to me and her eyes magnified I run out of the office and she calls after me and I run out of the house and run through the woods in the front of the house and I keep running and I don't stop.

I keep crying and sobbing and the branches of trees hit my arms and I keep running away and then as soon as I find a break into the trees. I stop at the treeline and I see I ran all the way to Luke Alexander's house our estate lives on the other side of the woods so the only thing separating us is the woods. I ran at least four miles that's how long the woods is I take off running and make it to the dirt road and I look up and see abel standing at the beginning of the road I sob and he says "Maria". I stand up and take off like a fricken bullet and so does he and once I got close to him I whimper "Abel". My tiny body collides with his and he just holds me into his embrace as I sob into his chest and he asks "hey hey it's okay your okay".

I keep sobbing I look up and see Jax and Luke running too and they stop and he backs away and he sees what I'm wearing and he says "your freezing lets bring you inside". He picks me up bridal style and I lean my head into his shoulder and he turns around and Luke asks "is she okay?". He shrugs and replies "I don't know let's get her into the house she's freezing" I wrap my arms around his neck and he carries me inside the house and Luke places a blanket over my shoulders and he asks "you want some hot tea? I just made some and some peanut butter cookies". I nodded at him and flash him a kind smile "those are my favorite" he smiles at me and ruffles my brown hair "mine too kiddo".

I sit beside Abel and Jax sits across from me and he asks "are you okay?" I shake my head at him as tears roll down my cheeks and I wipe them away and I whimper "it's all just a big mess". Jax's eyes soften and he says "I was on the phone with faith when we saw you running she's on her way". I shake my head and whimper "I can't let her see me like this I'm a wreck" Abel's hand glides over my back and he says "one thing I've learned about faith is she does what she wants when she wants". I giggle and nodded at him "your absolutely right" then luke brings back a cookie and my tea and he sits on the other side of me and he asks "what happened?". I wipe the tears away and I say to luke "I confronted mom as soon as I got home and at first I wasn't mad she hid it from me but then she told me she bonded my power when I was eight with the faith and the horse accident she says she bound my powers then and she kept saying how she wanted me to have a normal life and she took my power away and it's like she took my powers away when it wasn't her's to take that's why they are just now starting to surface the block she had put on my head is coming down".

He rubs my back and he says "I get what you're saying, sweety". I take a drink of the tea and I run a hand through my hair and I say "and I don't wanna be typical because I know I'm not I've always felt out of place here I've never felt normal". Abel grabs my hand after I sit the cup down and Luke says "do you wanna know the real story behind me leaving?" I hear abel clear his throat I turn to look at him and he's not looking at me he's looking at Luke and he says "she's not ready yet". I clasp his hand into mine and he looks at me and I look into his crystal blue eyes and I say "it's okay". He sighs and nods at luke and he says after he got the nod of approval from abel.

He takes a deep breath and he squeezed my hand letting me know he's right here and luke says "let me tell you first your mother she was the love of my life she would have this laugh everytime she laughed she could make you laugh and when we started dating her dad your grandfather would do all sorts of things to try and get your mom to break up with me but she never fell for them he tried hard tactics trying to send people to get into quarrels with me at school everything".

"Then one day he found out about your family secret and ours about how your lineage comes from a long line of witches and so does mine and he was so mad with rage he was gonna hang your mom and he found out about your grandmother being a witch it was all passed down from the women your lineage goes back generations". My eyes widened and I ask "it's all within the women?" he nodded at me in agreement and abel says "he's right your roots has gone back since the 1600s I met your great great great great grandmother Temperance the resemblance between you and her is uncanny". I smile at him and he shows me one too and I ask "you knew her? what was she like?". I smile at him and I turn to Jax and he says "your devil may care attitude is just like tempy that was our nickname she called me 'Jackie boy or Jax' and she called abel 'abe'. A smile crosses my face and then before I could ask another question I hear Faith run down the hall and she squeals "mia".

I giggle and she tackles me into a hug and she checks me from head to toe "are you okay?". I smile at her and after I tell her what happened and how my family is a lineage of witches and she says "how lame you get to be a cool witch what the hell am I?". I hear Jax snicker from across the room and then I hear a knock on the front door that faith came through and she looks at me and luke stands up and I say "if it's mom tell her I don't wanna see her". He nodded at me and he kisses me on the forehead and he walks down the hall and when he answers abel and I sit on the stairs which leads to Jax's and Abel's room. Abel rubs my back and sits beside me and we listen to luke's and my mom's conversation.

I run my hand through my hair and luke says "listen Cheryl just give her some time to cool off she feels like you lied to her about who she is this is her legacy being a Thornhill witch this is who she is meant to be just because your mother forced you to be a witch does not mean that path is for her she feels this gift is a blessing in disguise you always hated being a witch and this path is her's to take on her own us warlocks believe in our own free will and I will not force her to be something she's not normal". I hear her scoff and she spats "she's not a witch she's a normal girl who goes to high school I will not raise her to be a freak of nature she's too young to make those kind of decisions she's sixteen years old she's just a kid". I feel tears roll down my cheeks and I feel my stomach drop and luke scoffs and he says "you know you sound like old man Thornhill I will not push my daughter to be something she's not I always told myself that if I ever had kids I will let them choose their own path and if she wants to be a witch then she will damn well be a witch".

A smile crosses my face and she says "give this to her she might be able to make more sense out of it than I can". I roll my eyes and Abel grabs me from behind and cradles me in his arms and he whispers "don't listen to her babe your not a freak of nature you're a special girl". He rubs my back and once luke shuts the door and he hands me the book mom gave to him and he says "hey get some sleep kiddo I'll see you in the morning". He passes us on the stairs and I stand to my feet "hey luke?" he turns around and I pull the book closer to my chest and I smile at him and I say "thanks". He smiles at me and I just realized I have his smile he kisses me on the forehead and he says "whenever you need me you know where to find me I spent the first sixteen years of your life not knowing about you and I don't wanna miss anything else".

I nodded at him and he hugs me I return his hug and his embrace was nice and warm and Abel shows me to the guest room and as soon as I sit down onto the bed I ask "so what did your personal witches do?". He flashes me a smile and sits beside me and he says "all sorts of things witches blood is not human blood your power is linked to your bloodline that's why every vampire was associated with a witch so vampires wouldn't feed on a human because with them you wouldn't have to glamour them afterward". I look through the book and he points to the page that said I could put protection spells on rings necklaces and bracelets "your great-great-grandmother ms Shirley she put a spell on our rings so we could walk in the sunlight as long as I got this ring on I'll be able to walk in the sunlight without a problem".

I smile at him and admire the giant ring on his finger and I turn the page of the book and I find an old picture of 'Temperance' of my family tree and I ask "is that temperance?". He nodds from beside me and he was right I was a dead ringer for temperance I was spitting image of her and I ask "did you love her?". He takes a deep breath and then he replies "I may had loved her a long time ago but not anymore she was burned at the stake here in thorn have when they found out she was a witch". My eyes widened and I grab his hand and I say "oh Abel I'm so sorry" he smiles at me and he says "it's okay it was a long time ago". I turn the page and when I turned the page I got a paper cut and blood goes down my finger the papers in here were very thick.

Abel turns his head and I hear him growl and I say "abe?" he doesn't turn to face me and he says "I don't want you to see me like this". I push my hand behind my back and I say "it's okay I'm not afraid you can show me" he turns to look at me and I see his eyes have gone too bright red and the veins in his eyes were very prominent. I hold out my hand to him and I say "go ahead" he licks my finger and then he groans and I ask "I have a question to ask you something I've always wanted to see". He chuckles and opens his mouth and I see his fangs pop out and I giggle and that night before I fell asleep and I put a bandaid on my finger faith snuck out of her room and came straight to mine and I lean back onto my bed. She grabs my hand and she says "this is crazy Jax told me everything even that he's a vampire did you know he was?".

I shake my head and giggle and reply "no I didn't I just figured it out that we were descendants of witches and he also said that he knew my great great great great grandmother temperance and the resemblance between me and her is uncanny faith I'm a dead ringer for her". She turns to her shoulder and she says "you know it was very heroic of you to stand up to your mom". I smile at her and I release a breath and I say "but I gotta go back at some point can't stay here forever". She raises an eyebrow at me and she says "what if you didn't have to go back? just tell her you wanna stay with luke I mean think about it he's got enough room and maybe when your mom sees how happy you are around him maybe she'll come around". I shrug at her statement she's right what if I talked to her about me possibly moving in here but would that be something luke would want? I don't wanna just barge into his life.

I run my hand through my hair and after I was about to fall asleep I remember what Abel told me before he left my room he told me goodbye he turns to smile at me from the doorway and he says "but don't worry about controlling your abilities it's in your blood mia you got this". I smile at him and he walks away from me and as soon as my head hits the pillow I was dead to the world.
