Chapter 9

"Man I don't think training to be a hero would have so much reading." Ochako sighed when the final bell rang. "What about you Izuku?"

He was only half paying attention as he has been struggling to ignore the tug of another key. It seemed ignoring it for so long was taking a toll on him, he couldn't stop bouncing his legs and tapping his fingers. It had been like time was messing with him again. "Hmm? Oh yea there was a lot of reading."

"Izuku, what's wrong? I've never seen you act like this before." She asked as Momo and Iida came over.

"When ever a new key pops up near by I can feel it like there's a tug on my soul and this is the first time it happened when I can't go out and find it. It seems like ignoring it only makes it worse."

"I believe I am speaking for all of us but may we accompany you in retrieving this key. I personally would like to observe how you make those... contracts you called them correct?" Momo tilted her head a little the side as she spoke but there was an aura co giddiness surrounding her. It was easy to see she was excited.

"Sure I don't see why not." Izuku smiled at his friends as he got up and hedged his bag into his shoulders. "I don't know how long it will take us to find it and I do t know which spirit it could be."

"Which spirits do you currently have if you do not mind me asking." Iida spoke up as they began heading out of class and the school.

"Well so far I have five of the twelve Zodiac keys, Leo, Sagittarius, Virgo. Gemini, Aries. And three silver keys, Canis Minor, Lyre and Horologium." Izuku explained showing off each key as he spoke their name. "Well the keys of the Canis Minor and Lyre like to go by different names, Plue and Lyra."

"Are all the spirits named after constellations then?" Yaoyorozu inquired.

"Yea. Virgo told me that the spirit world, where the spirits live, borders our world and when we look up at the stars were looking at the border to their world I guess a mystical or spiritual sense rather than literally. And the constellations we see are just them protecting their border if that makes sense. Virgo explained it better."

"That is quite the interpretation. I am unsure how literal these spirits were being in their explanation but it is something I would not mind learning more about." She hummed, lost in thought.

"I wonder what they're protecting themselves from then." Ochako mused.

Izuku shrugged. "Not sure. Virgo never told me. It's kinda why I'm hoping to find the key for Crux. He's supposed to be the spirit that knows everything about the spirit world."

"Are we getting close now?" Ochako asked. "There's like this rotting garbage smell that keeps getting stronger."

"I had noticed that too. If I am remembering correctly, there was a beach around this area that became a dump a while back." Iida agreed with a slight frown.

"Yea the feeling is getting a lot stronger." Izuku replied setting them off towards the beach. It was only when they spotted the mountains of trash that the four of them held their breath, trying to not breathe in the rank air. "The key is definitely here. I can go look for it while you three stay here."

"Nonsense. It would be irresponsible to let you wonder off in there alone, you could get seriously injured. At the very least I shall accompany you." Iida disagreed.

"All right then if you're sure. It's this way." Surprisingly the girls had joined them. He was most surprises about Yaoyorozu as she seemed like the type to want to avoid doing this but Izuku guessed he had under estimated her.

The further they went through the heaps of garbage the more sounds of vicious waves sounded. It wasn't long till the discovered the source. A floating mermaid holding a jug of some sort. He'd heard about this spirit from Leo. Aquarius the water bearer. Apparently she was an insanely strong spirit with a bit of a temper. But what was she doing here? Maybe... actually that sounded likely. Leaving his companions who were in too much shock to move he approached the spirit.

"Excuse me, are you Aquarius?"

"And what's it to you punk?" The spirit snarled.

"Well you're looking for your key I can help you?" Izuku offered with a half smile. Already he could see what Leo had been talking about and it had barely been a minute.

"Hmm you're that brat the others have been talking about aren't you. Fine. If you find my key I'll make a contract with you but be warned, I am very particular about where I'm summoned." Aquarius huffed but went back to using her powers to knock around the piles of trash.

Seeing that he had been dismissed began following he tug of the key, following it towards a pile behind the water spirit. Izuku began to dig through the pile being careful not to touch anything sharp or rusted. He did not want to explain to a doctor that he'd been looking around piles of old rubbish because his quirk told him to. Less than five minutes of digging later and he found the key they were looking for. It was a little tricky to grab since it was half under an old iron but he did manage it with out a scrape. Aquarius must have felt something when he grabbed the key as she had stopped looking herself.

"What ever. As for that contract, don't summon me Saturday or Sunday unless it's an emergency. Don't summon me for trivial matters or you'll regret it. And don't even think about dropping my key or you'll get it." With that the spirit vanished in a gold light and Izuku smiled a little bitterly. He had a feeling that this spirit would be annoyed at him no matter what he did.
