Chapter 2
*Percy pov*
Things just got a lot worse. I groaned lowly from my seat across the round table in the big house. Due to the book being taken out of the temple the barrier created by the temple that was protecting it was gone and I was getting seriously bad headache from all the senses In my body screaming at me to protect it. It was because of that headache that I did not hear a question that was thrown towards me .
"Percy!"
I sat up startled at the sudden yell. Everyone was looking at me with varying looks of concern.
"W-what is it?".
"Did you hear anything we just said?", Annabeth, asked.
"N-no", I answered truthfully.
"Are you okay Perseus?", Chiron asked concerned.
"I'm fine. Now, what did you say Annabeth?". Annabeth sighed.
"The camper who found the book was Jacob Morgan, a child of Hermes. We have brought him here today to exhibit his find to us". Annabeth pointed to a 13 year old boy with blonde hair and brown eyes. He looked like someone with a rotten heart. I could tell just by looking at him that he was bad news.
He stepped forward with lump covered in old strips of clothing, and unwrapped it on the table. There it was, The book in all its glory with brown leather covering and words unidentifiable to others than me and golden straps on the side. Everyone gasped. Even in its dusty state it was still beautiful.
"What does it say?", Jason asked Annabeth.
"I don't know. It's in a language i have never seen before", Annabeth replied looking astonished.
"Chiron, do you know?", Hazel asked.
Chiron also looked stunned,"I have no idea what language it is in. This is incredible". Jacob sneered snottily, as if proud of finding something valuable. I ignored him and stared more closely at the book mentally checking if the protection spells had broken.
Thankfully they were all secured and unbroken. I sighed in slight relief, but now I had a bigger problem. Chiron will probably want to take the book to the gods for further examination, the main problem is that if they touch it the creatures inside the book could be accidentally be freed. Gods know what we would do if he escaped.
I suddenly felt a tingly feeling in the back of my mind. Frank had reached a hand out to touch the book. This is bad. If he touches it he might get shocked, or worse, free a demon. I didn't want to have to do this but considering the situation I must.
"That's probably a bad idea", I said out loud. Frank stopped and stared at me questioningly as well as everyone else.
"Why?".
"It might be cursed". Frank pulled his hand back.
"What makes you think it's cursed?", Annabeth asked.
"From my experience I've decided that touching unidentified objects is not the best thing to do", I reply.
"Perseus is right. Until we know what it is it is better not to touch it. Jacob please wrap this up, we will be taking it to the gods where we can find out more information about it", Chiron said. Jacob strode forward and re-wrapped the book before exiting the room.
"The meeting is now over", Chiron said before exiting. We took this as a sign to go and one by one left the big house.
"Thanks for the save Percy", Frank said gratefully once we got outside.
"No problem", I reply wincing as my headache suddenly spiked. It seems the creatures are getting angered, that's not good.
"You okay?"
"I am fine. I'm just going to go take a nap to sleep this annoying headache off. If anyone needs me I'm in my cabin", I say.
"Okay", Frank says looking concerned. He waves goodbye as i leave. Of course I was not going to sleep, instead I was going to do some research and find a way to steal back the book and seal it far away where no one can find it. It's my duty as its guardian. I just hope no one gets to it before I do. That would be bad.
