☆\\Chapter Sixty-One

~THIRD PERSON
FOR BETTER EXPERIENCE~

Marcus stopped in his tracks, his paws pressing into the soil beneath him. His ears perked up listening for any unnatural sound. Behind him, stood Isa and Hale, their demeanors daunting as they listened intently. The forest was dead silent, as if there wasn't any life around.

Marcus was on edge, his eyes scanning his surroundings meticulously. He had offered to help Alpha Mykel to rescue his mate's brother. Many days ago, they had risked their lives rescuing a cub from the claws of the lycans. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't in vain. That cub...there was something different about it.

Lycans had no use for tiger blood, but vampires do. Marcus knew this all too well. The creatures that walked the earth do not mix unless they had a common goal. Either that or they made some sort of deal. Whatever it was, they were working together.

A howl sounded through the forest, cutting the eerieness like an army knife. It was one of pain, but not just from any wolf, it was from an Alpha. Marcus roared before taking off through the trees. His paws taking him as fast as they can go. He had just hoped they wouldn't be too late. That hope was slowly slipping away as Mykel's howl signaled distress.

Hale was calm yet eager as he kept up pace behind his leader. He was tall, standing at six feet with hair as black as the night sky. He was a warrior, one that was never beaten no matter the opponent he faced. He was unmated but he wasn't unhappy about it. He didn't talk much, his keen observation was the forefront of his personality. His mission was simple, protect his leader at all cost. The Alpha whom his leader was risking their lives for was worthy enough.

Isa held his composure as he dashed through the trees. His paws hitting the ground with loud thuds as he raced behind his leader. In human form, he was slim and only standing at five feet tall. His height never bothered him, his bravery was more than enough to give him confidence. He was ready to fight alongside his leader, ripping those panthers to shreds.

A few clearings away, Mica's body laid rigid on the ground. He was in his wolf form, but the blood gushing from his side was clearly evident. Dane licked his lips, the remaining blood flowing down his throat rapidly. Wolf's blood was sweet, but not as sweet as a witch's. His red eyes were now fixated on the witch before him, an evil smirk tugging at his lips.

Dane was a monster, one that was created. Twenty years ago, he was just a feeble human. He was weak, useless and not good enough for anyone. His mother was human, but his father was a wolf. His older brother Clyde had taken their father's genes, shifting at just five years old. Dane on the other hand was born a human. It was a very rare case, but nonetheless it happened. He was envious of Clyde, knowing he would never be like him.

Dane's father cherished him deeply, but his mother wasn't so forthcoming. The love in her heart wasn't shared between him and Clyde. He always got the bitter end of the stick, wishing he could somehow get rid of his brother. Dane was bitten by an elder vampire, turning him into a blood sucking monster. The power he developed instilled fear in others, making his heart darken with each victim he would drain.

Dane's lust for power and envy led him to murdering his own mother. It tore the bond between his father, brother and him. But he didn't care, he was unstoppable. He spent the last few years hunting witches, draining them of every drop. The sun wasn't his worst enemy anymore nor a sharp stake to his heart.

Now, before his eyes was his final prey. A witch so powerful that her blood may drive you mad. But Dane knew he could handle it, he just never knew it would be this easy.

Lina's eyes darted around, her mind trying to formulate an escape route. The last time Dane bit her, she was immediately unconscious. She couldn't let that happen again, especially now that she was pregnant.

"Come on Lina, don't make me have to do this the hard way", Dane spoke up, his voice laced with annoyance.

"Stay away from me", Lina responded, her jaws clenched together tightly.

Dane's impatience seemed to run out as his fangs dropped, almost piercing his bottom lip. His nails elongating into sharp claws. He had just enough of Lina's bickering. He couldn't wait to taste her blood. There will be none left when he's done with her.

Meanwhile, Hilda stood with a blank expression as she eyed the pentacle she had drawn. This wasn't something she wanted, but she had no choice. The Pride's Alpha had commanded her to perform a cruel spell. This wasn't just any spell, oh no, this one she would take with her to the grave. She looked at the unconscious boy beside her, his skin pale and thin.

Hilda wasn't the witch she was all those years ago. If it was back then, she would've easily overpowered the Alpha and claimed her freedom. But she wasn't that powerful anymore. She barely practiced magic anymore, focusing on living a normal life in her small cottage. She had told the Alpha countless times that she refused to do as he asked, but the torture he would inflict on her was too much for her old, fraile body.

The Alpha stood tall, enjoying the view before his eyes. There on the ground lay an Alpha wolf, his breathing shallow as he slipped in and out of consciousness. The Alpha smirked, the scars on his body slowing healing. The witch blood in his body was taking its effect. He felt unstoppable, but he was not done yet.

The Alpha made his way inside, his feet making loud patters on the tiled floor. He made his way down the hall, excited for what was about to come. His steps faltered as he stopped infront of a huge gate. He pushed it open before making his way underground.

Avan's eyes opened slowly, his chest heaved up and down as he tried to steady his breathing. He tried to move his arms but they were tied down, very tight at that. He snapped his eyes opened, taking in his surroundings. He was on a small table, all his limbs strapped down to it. With his mouth taped shut, panic starting to seep in rapidly.

"Are you ready?", the Alpha asked making his presence known. He looked at the useless witch before him. He had no idea what Daija saw in him. He turned his eyes away to focus on Hilda, her hands holding a small pendant.

"Yes", Hilda replied, her trembling fingers playing with the pendant.

"Then let's begin", The Alpha commanded, taking a stance behind Avan's head. This was what he'd been waiting for. There was no stopping him now.

Marcus screeched to a halt, his eyes focused on the building before him. His eyes scanned around, finally landing on the unmoving form of the Alpha. He dashed forward, his teeth bared as he approached the concrete steps.

Something was wrong. The place was too quiet.

Marcus shifted, his tanned skin glistening in the sunlight. He checked the Alpha's pulse; It was faint, but there nonetheless.

"Isa, take him to the border. I'm counting on you", Marcus spoke, his eyes stern as he looked at him.

"Yes sir", Isa spoke with confidence, not an ounce of fear racking through his body. It would be much harder to carry the Alpha in wolf form. The task at hand was hefty but not impossible.

Marcus glimpsed a figure through the corner of his eyes. It moved so fast, stirring up the wind in the process. A vampire was near, confirming his suspicions. The panthers were working with them.

"Damn he's heavy", Isa commented as he hoisted the Alpha unto his back. With a small nod towards his leader, he took off for the trees.

He was not going to let him down.

Meanwhile back in the dungeons, Avan shrunk himself into the wall. His knees to his chest as his body shook violently. His eyes filled with fresh tears, rolling down his cheeks in streams. His body and mind was now in a completely different state. He felt weak, like a mere human waiting to be picked off by the man before him.

The deed was done.

The Alpha was grinning as if he had won the lottery. He felt the power surging through his veins creating a feeling of ecstacy. His eyes scanned the lifeless body of the witch whose body was sprawled out on the floor. His jaw ticked as he turned away, looking at the shaking human before him.

'Pathetic', he thought.

The Alpha's nose twitched, a pungent smell invading his nostrils. He turned around immediately, a scowl appearing on his face.

"Well, well, well, what an unpleasant suprise", The Alpha said calmy, his eyes fixated on four figures before him.

"Hand him over", Marcus demanded. He was in no mood for the bickering.

"You're free to take him, afterall, I already took what I wanted", the Alpha replied, licking his lips in the process.

"What the fuck did you do?", Clyde shouted, his feet taking him two steps forward.

The Alpha chuckled dryly. His lips then fell into a thin line. "I think it's time you get off my lands."

Clyde growled, his nails extended into sharp claws. He had no intention of leaving this place without the panther on the ground. His bones cracked, setting in place as he transformed. The others followed along and soon enough everyone was in their animal form.

The Alpha stood across from them, ready and waiting. His golden eyes moved from one of them to the next. He didn't speak. He didn't need to.

Then the Alpha moved.

He rushed forward without a sound. Clyde jumped to meet him, but the panther was fast. He twisted in the air and slashed across Clyde's side before landing on his feet again.

Marcus roared and charged. He swung a heavy paw, but the Alpha ducked and spun away. In the same second, he jumped at Hale.

Hale rolled aside and bit down on the panther's back leg. The Alpha kicked him off, but Dezin was already there, attacking from the other side.

Now all four of them were in the fight.

They came at him from every direction- biting, clawing, trying to bring him down.

But the Alpha moved like a shadow, always slipping away. He struck fast and hard, cutting through them with sharp claws and quick steps. The witch blood in his veins making him ten times stronger, faster, more powerful.

Blood hit the ground. Clyde didn't know whose it was.

Still, they kept fighting.

Because this wasn't just a fight anymore, it was a war.

Clyde's side burned, but he stayed on his feet. He didn't have time to think about the pain. The panther was still standing- fast, strong, and dangerous.

Marcus tried again, charging with full force. This time, he managed to knock the Alpha off balance. The panther hit the ground, but only for a second. He rolled, kicked off the wall, and leapt back into the fight.

Dezin caught him mid-air. They slammed into the ground hard, rolling across the concrete. The panther raked his claws across Dezin's face, but Dezin didn't let go. He sank his teeth into the panther's shoulder, holding him down

Hale jumped in, biting at the panther's leg. Marcus moved next, his heavy body blocking the Alpha from escaping. Clyde ran forward, aiming for the neck.

But the Alpha wasn't finished.

With a loud roar, he twisted hard, throwing Dezin off. His claws flashed, hitting Hale and sending him sliding across the ground. Marcus stepped in, but the panther slipped under him and backed away, bleeding but still standing.

His chest rose and fell with each breath. Blood dripped from his wounds, but his eyes were still full of fire.

Everyone was hurting.

Hale was limping. Dezin had deep scratches across his face. Marcus had a cut along his shoulder.

The panther Alpha looked worse. He was bleeding from several places now, his black fur streaked with red. He was fast, but he was slowing down.

Clyde narrowed his eyes. This was their chance.

Marcus charged from the front, roaring loud. The Alpha turned to face him- that was his mistake.

Dezin came in from the side, knocking the panther off balance.

Hale leapt in and bit down on the Alpha's front leg, holding tight.

Clyde moved last. He pounced, teeth bared, and clamped his jaws around the Alpha's neck.

The panther kicked, clawed, and struggled- but he couldn't get free.

Clyde tightened his grip. The Alpha's movements slowed…then stopped.

It was over.

The Pride's leader was dead.
