The Bench - Chapter 2

I strolled down the halls toward my next class. The bell hasn't rung yet, but I am not so sure I will make my class I'm supposed to be in.

I start whistling and finally make up my mind and pull my wireless beats out and set them up with my phone. Putting my phone in my pocket, I start nodding my head as the song Cool (Sweater Beats Remix) by Alesso comes on. I almost threw my backpack in my locker. It is so cool when you have headphones on and you are walking.

Almost immediately after I close my locker and start walking, I am pushed against the lockers on the other side of the wall. I see Ryder standing there with an evil look in his eye. He almost punched me in the eye, but I put up my pointer finger and said,

"Wait." Ryder is confused at my actions and I take my beats off, walk over to my locker, open it, and put all my stuff in there. I don't know how the locker holds all of that stuff. Closing my locker and walking back to the position I was in, I looked at him with bored face and fake screamed, holding my hands up 'trying' to block my face.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Well you wanted to fight obviously. So here I am." I said. He smiled and punched my gut. My immediate reaction, kick him in the place where the sun don't shine. His immediate reaction, groan and hold his place. I walked away and smirked.

I took out my backpack and walked to my next class, seeing that the bell had rang. I walked over to my next class and the bell rang. I reached my class two minutes late. History class. Love the subject, hate the teacher. Mr. Oxford looked at me, eyes narrowed and arms crossed.

"Well why are you late this time?" He asked me.

"I blame the bell!" I said. He rolled his eyes but nodded his head.

"You know, I would usually disagree. This time though, I agree. They only gave the students 45 seconds to get their stuff and get to the next class." Mr. Oxford said. I grinned and strolled over to my seat, back row. Some kids stuck their hands out for me to high five so I couldn't leave them hanging. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and smiled, paying close attention to class.

I absolutely love history class. I also love how in the Revolutionary War changed the rule of war. It inspired me.

The reason I actually beat up people, is because they either tell me what to do in a rude manner or they are bullying other kids. Never for fun, mostly because that is mean and cruel. The bell rang and I frowned. Darn, we were learning about Pearl Harbor. I walked out of the classroom and saw Lucas. Trying to hide my face, I pulled my hat foreword and dipped it down so my eyes didn't show. I put my head down and pulled the hem of my shirt to cover my face walking in the opposite direction.

"Hey! Astrid hey!" Lucas yelled. I stopped and sighed putting my hat back in its normal seat on my head and let go of my shirt. I put on a fake grin and turned around to face Lucas.

"Hey Lucas!" I said. He grinned and walked over to me. Coincidentally, I was right by my locker. So I took my lunch out and started walking towards him.

"Hey Astrid. Finally took you long enough. You managed to go from history class all the way to art class." He said. I nodded my head.

"So lunch." I said. He groaned and ran his hand through his hair.

"Darn it! I left my lunch at home!" He yelled. I chuckled.

"Here. You can eat my extra lunch." I said. He looked at me confused.

"Extra lunch?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.

"Yes. Sometimes kids would take other kid's lunch so I always have a spare." I said. He nodded and I took my extra lunch out for him. It was mostly crackers, stale fruit snacks, and a water.

"Thank you. So where is this lunch room?" He asked. I walked over to the lunch room with Lucas hot on my heels.

"I woudn't call it a lunch room." I said.

"Well than what would you call it?" He asked. I smirked.

"A place where you avoid the school lunch and eat your own lunch." I said. He nodded.

"That makes more sense." Lucas said. I nodded as I stopped in front of the cafeteria doors.

"You ready?" I asked him. He blew out air and nodded.

"Yes." And with that I pushed open the doors. His eyes glittered at the sights. My friends were at the table farthest from the cafeteria food, which is the best spot by the way. I smiled and waved at my friends, walking over to them. Lucas followed and I stopped at my table.

"Hey guys! This is Lucas. Lucas, these are my friends!" I said. He smiled.

"My name is Jack!" Jack said, he has brown hair and green eyes.

"I am Katie, as you know." Lucas said. He slightly waved at him.

"My name is Sarah! I am Astrid's cousin. Call me Sarah only. Nothing else!" She said strictly. I smiled at her.

"Sheesh guys! Way to put me last!" Cain exclaimed, arms crossed. He is the mature one in our group with dark blonde hair and dark brown eyes. I sat down next to Astrid and Cain. Lucas sat down next to Jack and Sarah.

Everyone started talking and getting to know Lucas, and Lucas getting to know them.

"So where are you from?" Astrid asked Lucas.

"I'm from L. A. I like blue and black, and I like skateboarding." He said. Cain, Katie, Jack, and Sarah nodded, satisfied with his answer. They started talking about food, and I rolled my eyes. Before I knew it, lunch was over. I walked with them to our next class, which we had together. Lucas got used to everyone and laughed at one of Jacks jokes. We came in the class laughing, but immediately stopped when we saw Mrs. Smith glaring at us. We all sat down and she started teaching.
