Peter was sitting watching. He had been in the hospital for about two hours already waiting for Samantha to wake up. Peter could not stop thinking about what had just taken place and he knew that Samantha wasn't wearing that necklace this morning. He could of sworn that it had just appeared. Suddenly he heard a groan from the bed.

"Glad to see your awake" said Peter looking at Samantha with a  concerned look.

"Where am I?" asked Samantha.

"Don't you remember anything?"

"No" said Samantha. She took in the scene. She could see that she was in a hospital bed in her clothes. She had scraps on her hands and Peter as giving her a weird look.

"What?" asked Samantha with a demanding tone.

"Well it's just that...let me just show you." Peter pulled out his phone and turned on the camera. He handed Samantha the phone and then Samantha nearly dropped it. Her hair had turned an icy blue color. Her roots were still golden brown. She looked down and realized that she had a necklace in the shape icicle. It started to glow blue and was cold to the touch.

"What the heck is going on!" Samantha exclaimed. Peter just stared. Suddenly there was a small tap on the door. A doctor then walked in and saw Samantha crying and Peter just looking at her not really sure of what to do. The doctor cleared his throat and the two freshman looked up.

"Ms. Perkins, your parents are here to see you" as the doctor said this Samantha's parents shoved him out of the way and rushed over to Samantha, but as soon as they touched her they cried out in pain.

"What's wrong?" asked Samantha.

"It's just that your skin is so cold that we can't touch you" stated Mrs. Perkins. Samantha still looking confused looked to her father for a scientific explanation.

"It's like if you keep your hand in dry ice, it will burn you, and that is kind of what is happening to us. You're the piece of dry ice and we're the bare skin that is trying to touch you." her father tried to explain. Samantha started crying all over again and ice started to form on the bed. Peter shoved past Samantha's parents and grab Samantha's hand and she stopped.

"Why aren't you crying out in pain?" asked Samantha through sniffles.

"I don't know" said Peter. "But I know it's going to be okay."

"Okay Samantha," said the doctor scaring everyone. "We need to get you down stairs to a lab, we need to run some tests on you because something is wrong with you."

"Well that's a rude way to put" said Peter. The doctor glared at him then motioned for Samantha to come sit a wheelchair that he had pulled aside. As Samantha got up she clutched the side of the bed. She looked down at her knee at saw that it had been bandaged. Peter ran over and helped her to the wheelchair. The doctor tried to grab the handles of the wheelchair, but frost was already crawling up the wheelchair, so he thought likewise. Instead Peter grabbed the handles and pushed Samantha toward the elevator.

Halfway down the hallway Peter stopped.

"What is it?" asked Samantha. She turned around and saw Peter writhing in pain on the floor. She saw that his hair was turning brown at the roots and a bracelet appeared on his wrist. An assistant rushed forward but then she was grabbed and pulled back. Samantha saw a plant dragging the assistant toward it. The assistant started to scream. Samantha stuck out her hand and shot out an ice beam and then the plant froze. Peter had stopped too. Samantha heard the doctor yell "Somebody get me a gurney!" and then she heard her phone vibrate. She looked down and saw it was a text message from Grace.

"Samantha the boys @ the high school have passed out and we r on our way to the hospital!!!! C u soon!!! LOL!!!!!"

Samantha looked at the picture of Grace and the two unconscious boys in the ambulance. She put her phone in her pocket and turned to see Peter being lifted up on a gurney and the doctor looking at her in shock.

"Um doctor?" asked a nurse.

"What!!!!!"

"We have two more boys coming to the hospital and it seems like the same thing happened to them"

"Tell the people to bring the two boys down into the Lab because, like I said before, something is wrong with all these individuals." said the doctor and all went silent. A nurse came up to grab Samantha's wheelchair but she thought otherwise. Samantha turned for her parents but they were gone. Suddenly a nurse came out with gloves and pushed Samantha's wheelchair to the elevator.

As soon as the crew made it to the lab, Peter and Samantha were put into beds and the curtains around the bed were drawn. Samantha was scared out of her mind. "How did this all happen?" Samantha asked herself. Suddenly her curtains were drawn back and she saw a woman. She also had golden brown hair and icy blue eyes just like Samantha. The woman wore an icicle necklace to just like Samantha. Samantha had seen the woman before but before she could come up the answer. The woman grabbed her and pulled Samantha into a hug. Suddenly it hit Samantha like a snowball to the face, she had seen this woman in her nightmare. She was the woman who was holding the small child in her arms. Samantha hugged the woman back and whispered, "mom".
