Today, I saw a man

Made of darkness itself.

Lightless was his face

And he made no motions by himself.

I found his mimics funny.

"A new friend!" I said.

And because the man was mute,

He jumped with joy instead.

I played hide-and-seek with him.

He found me every time.

I finally caught him peeking,

Which, in this game, is a crime.

So, I put him in the corner,

But he was lonely, no doubt.

So, to stop him from following me,

I broke a vase and got timeout.

I really liked that man-

His blackened arms gave me a hug.

And we were both really tired,

So, we fell asleep upon the rug.

I woke up hours later,

Ready to play fair-and-square.

I looked around for my friend.

But it was too dark; my friend wasn't there
