EVERYONE KNEW ENIGMA DRYSDALE WAS HER GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S FAVOURITE. Practically from the moment he had set eyes on her, they knew. They knew she would be the sparkle in his eyes, the angel in his dreams. She would be his everything. And they were right.

After being left his child on his doorstep, young Ransom was simply not ready to raise a child. He was rash, irresponsible and simply dangerous for an infant to be around. Enigma's grandparents didn't want to help, after all, she was Ransom's mess — his mistake. But Harlan Thrombey felt differently. He just knew from the second that his daughter brought her son's baby home to show the family, that he would be the one to raise her.

Enigma thrived in the life her Great-Grandfather had given her. Sure, raising a baby at his age wasn't exactly easy but he was up for the challenge. Ransom may have been young and inexperienced, but Harlan knew he cared and let him visit Enigma as often as he liked despite his parents' wishes. As soon as she could understand a concept of the world around her, Enigma realised that Harlan Thrombey was not her Father and that it was Ransom Drysdale who had given her life.

Those first years with Enigma were some precious memories Harlan knew he would cherish until the grave. Because a few years after Enigma was born. After he had been there for her first steps and her first word: cluedo. After he had started to teach her how to read and play chess. Ransom thought he was older and responsible enough to be the Father who Enigma needed.

He tried, he did. But parenting didn't come naturally to Ransom Drysdale. So Enigma began to long for the days she would visit her Great-Grandfather — her Papa Harlan — and count down to them with the aid of her calendar. And when her Father took her back and became more involved with her life, so did her Grandparents. So despite the fact that she was no longer being raised by Harlan Thrombey, away in his mansion of puzzles and mysteries, she was more included in her family than she ever had been.

But that wasn't always a good thing.

The Thrombeys and the Drysdales fought like the world was ending and they always needed to have the last say. They fought about all sorts of things: money, relationships, the children, the business. Anything and everything. But they all had to do with the one thing: Harlan Thrombey's will. And when the man in question was discovered dead the morning after his 85th birthday party, the family is put under a microscope to get to the bottom of it.

Means, motive and opportunity. That was what it always came down to. And her family had plenty.

Devastated by the loss of the only man who truly understood her, Enigma must put on a brave face if she is to solve the case of her Papa Harlan's death. With or without the help of the famous Benoit Blanc.

- Enigma is a young and caring girl who loves to read and write. She also likes puzzles and strategy games meaning she takes after her Great-Grandfather.

- Enigma was never interested in the money, she just cared about her Great-Grandfather, which was why Harlan thought of her so fondly. Enigma is also very close to her Great-Great-Grandmother who she always makes sure is taken care of because no one else seems to really care. 

- She was born when her parents were very young and her Mother gave her to her Father to raise. Enigma doesn't know anything about her except that her Mother's parents refused to let her get an abortion and that because of that, she didn't want her. Yet Enigma likes to think that even though her Mother didn't want her, she cared about what happened to her because she ended up on the doorstep of her Father who didn't know instead of some random fire station or children's home.

- Despite what Ransom can be like, he does care about her. He's irresponsible, not the best role model and an attempted murderer but he does love his daughter and wants her to be okay. He's not that good at showing it though.

- Enigma doesn't visit him in prison because she's happy with her new life. She even considers changing her last name from Drysdale to either Thrombey or Harlan (for her Great-Grandfather), or even Blanc (for her new guardian). This is going to be an ongoing thought throughout Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man. She's trying to figure out who she is and who she wants to be.

- She loves to write like her Great-Grandfather. They also play chess together and he creates strategy games and puzzles for her to solve. A favourite were Scavenger hunts.

- Harlan basically raised Enigma as Ransom was young when she came into his life.

-  Because of how much she loves books, she is left the business whilst Marta is left a whole lot of money and the house. But she can't become a part of the business until she's at least 18 (she's 14 as of movie one). Her family, after hearing what has happened, continuously tries to get Enigma to sign it over to them. But she refuses.

- Ransom goes to prison, her next of  kin - Harlan - is dead. The rest of her family is toxic. So, Blanc decides to become her legal guardian. Him and Phillip adore her.

- Blanc and Enigma are basically Father/daughter but she still doesn't call him 'Dad' because the last one she had betrayed her. Blanc is better than that. Also, Enigma loves Phillip too, he's her other new 'Dad' and they bake together.

- Basically everyone calls her 'Iggy' apart from her Great-Grandfather and Blanc.

- One day, Enigma will write a book saga based on Blanc.
