Chapter 37

A/N: Another chapter for today! :D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Babysoul's POV

The days went by like hours and the months went by like days.

Being a trainee made my days move fast as we only have 3 routines each day. Eat, Sleep and Practice (which includes vocal or dance trainings).

It was tiring, almost dull, but my life was given a different color knowing my co-trainees and making new friends.

The day Mr. CEO gave me the contract was still fresh in my mind. I thought it was just a joke.

"Am I dreaming?"

Hoya and Mr. Lee chuckled.

"No, Miss Lee Sujeong. This is real. Honestly, it's hard to find raw talents like you. It was such a regret that I wasn't able to witness your audition before. And I'd like to say sorry for what my sister did that day. That was really unfair."

He handed me the contract.

"Think about it. I'll give you two days to decide."

I called my parents and Jin that day to ask for their advice. And all I heard was 'go for it' and that they are proud of me! I was sorry to my parents that I won't be able to send money anymore because I won't be earning if I'm a trainee. And they said that they will manage as long as I go for my dreams.

Without further doubt's, after reading the contract, I signed and gave it on the same day.

The next day, the CEO introduced me as a trainee. I withdrew my post as an admin staff. Everyone was shocked but proud of me.

Since that day, it became rare for me to see Sungkyu. I attended the practice sessions at their old practice room as the lease for that has not ended yet hence we don't go to the main office.

At some moments of my day, I would think of Sungkyu and our last conversation. Will the time come for us to clear that out?

Maybe no. Maybe we won't be discussing about us anymore. Because there are no relationship between us in the first place.

Honestly, the last time I saw him was when we went to Woollim Ent to show our performance to the directors for our monthly evaluation.

He didn't even see me.

I've given up with the idea of us being together. So I'll just do my best with my career. I'll be a singer like I've always dream of.

Sungkyu's POV

"So what do you plan to do on your next appearance on 'Immortal Song'?" the CEO asked. I've been performing on that show for quite some time now.

"I think a duet is perfect," Director Han recommended.

"Yeah. I agree. I haven't done it before except with Woohyun."

"This time we better pair you up with a girl."

"Good idea," the Director agreed.

"Who? From a girl group?"

"From a trainee."

Lee Jungyeop looked at me and he smiled knowingly. What is this?

"Babysoul," he continued.

"Oh the small one," the director commented. "Hmnn... I heard her sing before and she can rap. I think she's perfect for the role."

I got quiet. But at the back of my mind, I felt so happy. I can't wait to see Soul.

"Ahmn.. Sir, I'd like to deliver the news to Babysoul personally," I suggested.

"Oh Sure."

Babysoul's POV

"Eonni! Eonnie!"

Jisoo- my co-trainee whom I am very close with at the moment came in rushing in the practice room.

"Hey! What's up?"

"Sungkyu- sunbaenim!!!"

I feel alert upon hearing his name.

"Sungkyu?"

"Yes! He is outside looking for you!"

I felt stoned in surprise. "W-why... Why is he looking for me?"

"I don't know. You better go now."

I went out and saw Sunggyu seating in the reception hall.

I don't know if I will smile which I did anyway. He smiled back which surprised me. Usually, he will smirk at me.

I felt my blood rushing, my heart thumping so loud.

He changed his hairstyle and he looks so good. How I miss this man so much.

Sunggyu's POV

She's walking towards me in slow motion. I don't know how that happened.

I think she lost weight and look pale. This must have been due to constant training. But I noticed her hair grew longer. It looks good on her.

I cleared my throat.

"Hey Soul."

"S-sunkyu sunbae.."

I chuckled.

"It's weird to hear you say sunbae."

"Oh. Haha, Yeah." I can feel we're both awkward. It's really been a while since we last talk to each other. And our last conversation was rather hanging.

We both have something seriously to talk about. I don't even know how I'd bring that up again us as fate has been separating us apart.

But on the second thought, this duo performance is a chance.

"So... ahmm.. Let's go to the meeting room. We have something to discuss." I must maintain my professionalism at all times.

We went in the meeting room and sat infront of each other.

I can't quite organize the words I want to say though I have a lot to say and ask. Like how has she been these past months, how is she taking the trainee life, is she doing well? Has she made friends?

Is she enjoying it?

Is she happy?

Does she miss me? Oh. Scrap that.

"So? What's up?" she asked.

"We haven't really got a chance to talk. It's been a while," I said.

I nodded. "Yeah."

"Congratulations for being accepted as a trainee."

"Thanks," she smiled.

"And also... Congratulations! You've been chosen to be my partner on my next appearance on the Immortal Song," I said in one breathe.

"Huh? What!? Really?"

"Yes."

She was utterly shocked.

"Do you accept the challenge?" I asked. I wanted to show off my cool side like I always do, but I can't help but be warm this time.

I can't stop feeling of wanting to take care of her.

"Y-yes. Of course."

"Then from this day onwards, we will be practicing together."

"Okay," she answered. She was looking straight at me in daze, like she still can't believe what she just heard.

"You're hair grew longer."

"Yes. Huh?" I thought she wasn't listening.

I cleared my throat disregarding what I said.

"I brought you a copy of the song." I handed it to her.

"Thanks."

I silently observe her while reading the lyrics. She looked like a kid. I'm restraining myself to pinch her cheeks.

"Oh! It's woman in the beach. I like this song!" she exclaimed.

"You sure do. You want to start practicing now?"

"Sure."

We started singing first. It's so refreshing to hear our voices together. It's been so long since we sang like this.

"Our voices have changed." Soul commented. Seems like she was observed that too.

"We'll be practicing in the Woollim Ent practice room 1 tomorrow for the dance steps. Be sure to be there."

"Okay."

After more discussions of our performance, it was time to say goodbye.

"I have to go."

"Yeah."

Actually, I don't want to go just yet. I want to talk to her more.

"You have anything else to say?" she asked.

"Ahmn.. I- ah.. well... Goodbye."

I rushed out. Why am I stuttering?

Babysoul's POV

I came in early for practice. Later, Sunggyu and the back up dancers came along.

ADDM was there to teach us the choreography and the dance.

At first, everything really felt uncomfortable as it is my first time to work with this people.

"Soul-ah! Don't be so stiff!" ADDM scolded.

"Y-yeah." I just answered.

The next routine, I stumbled. Good thing Sungkyu catched me.

"I-m s-sorry. I'm sorry."

"Soul-ah! Concentrate!" ADDM again scolded.

"Yes sir." I tried my best. I was just really distracted. After a few more tries with no mistakeS, ADDM dismissed us and told us to come back again tomorrow.

I slumped myself at the corner of the practice and closed my eyes. I'm so tired.

"Water?"

I opened my eyes and then saw Sungkyu handing me a bottle of water.

"Thanks." As I drink, I found him staring at me. I got tensed but I just ignored him.

"I'm happy that you're accepted as a trainee," he said while seating beside me.

"Thanks. It's actually thanks to you," I smiled.

"What? Me? I didn't do anything. Isn't it Hoya's doings?" he said. Why do I hear hurt in his voice.

"Yeah but, if you weren't so persistent and hard headed in the first place, I wouldn't have set foot in Woolliment."

"Oh," he chuckled. "You must have hated me that time."

"Slight? I still can't believe you dragged me here for audition in a ghost costume!" I laughed.

"Oh that was epic," he laughed big time.

"Shut up!" I hit his arms jokingly. "But seriously, thanks. My life hasn't been normal since then. But I guess it was a way so I could walk closely to my dreams. Everything really happens for a reason."

"I'm glad I'm one of the key to your dreams," he muttered almost whispering to himself.

You've always been a key. Always.

We both smiled at each other. The awkwardness was filled with warmth.

The next day, I was the earliest to be in the practice room. I practiced by myself.

And then suddenly, someone's clapping at the side. It was Sungkyu.

"Sunbae!"

"That was good!" He went near me. "But I think it will be better if you wear this," he opened the box he's holding and it a pair of shoes! A pair of rubber shoes!

"F-for me?"

Instead of answering me, he led me to the bench at the side of the practice room and let me seat there.

He squatted on the floor, remove my old weary shoes.

I'm too overwhelmed and speechless. I just watch him put on the shoes.

"Perfect." He said and then pinched my cheeks.

And I was left blushing.
