Chapter 3

The next morning, Khali leaves the demon's castle early and by herself. Camryn is nowhere to be seen, which works in Khali's favour. Her black wings stretch out as she takes off into the sky, looking for anyone to kill so none of the other demons get killed by Herobrine.

As she watches the kingdom, she spots a castle knight stumbling out of a pub. His helmet is lopsided, suggesting that he fell into a drunken sleep the night before. Khali smirks and dives down, sword at the ready. She lands in front of the disoriented guard and stabs at him, but her sword blade is blocked by a diamond axe. She scowls as her eyes land on an angel with a fierce look on his bacca face.

The knight stumbles away, and Khali doesn't chase him.

"So, the angels are finally leaving their castle. Did your master finally decide to try and stop us?" she asks sarcastically. The bacca, Jerome, growls and spreads his wings defensively.

"Yes, in fact. I'm here to destroy you."

Khali scoffs.

"I'd like to see you try."

He yells and swings his axe at Khali, which she blocks with her sword. He flies up and kicks her in the chest, knocking the wind from her body. She falls to the ground, but quickly gets up again. Khali snarls and flies into the air, where she leaves a red gash across the bacca's arm. He groans and chops at her in return, leaving a red mark on her leg as she tries to fly farther upwards.

"Just give up!" the girl taunts, hiding the pain she's feeling in her leg. "You aren't going to win!"

Jerome chuckles and stabs at her, which she narrowly avoids.

"You're scared, you miserable demon!" he replies. Khali mock gasps.

"I am offended!"

"Good!"

He stabs again, but misses as the demon flies up and dive-bombs him out of the sky. He lands hard on the pavement, getting the wind knocked out of him. Jerome groans in pain and his axe falls from his hand. It slides across the pavement and just out of his grasp. Khali takes this chance to pin him, her sword glinting in the ever rising sun.

"I'm going to chop your wings off your dead body, bring them to Herobrine, and say I killed an angel. That should get me back on his good side, right?" she asks, tracing his neck with the tip of her blade. He swallows hard and tries to reach his axe.

"Why do you even want to be on his side?" Jerome demands, still groping for his weapon. Khali chuckles.

"Don't you know how much fun it is to wreck havoc?"

"No, and to be honest I don't really want to know! Herobrine doesn't care for anything or anyone but himself, so why would you want to be on his side?" the bacca asks.

"I'm a demon. Demons don't hang out with angels, so what other side would I be on?"

"I don't know and I don't really care."

Khali smirks and adjusts herself so she's sitting on Jerome's chest with her blade at his throat.

"Why am I wasting time talking to angel scum? Let's get to the good part, why don't we?"

As she's about to slit his furry throat, something slams her from the side and sends her flying into a building. She lands hard and groans, looking up in time to see the bacca flying away, axe in hand, beside a second angel in sunglasses and a black jacket. His hair is dark brown, and he's carrying a bow.

Khali stands up slowly, pains shooting through her whole body, and screams in anger. She sheathes her sword and breathes heavily through her nose. An angel had just slipped through her grasp. Herobrine wouldn't likely forgive that.

Why do the villains always get caught monologuing?

As Ian flies through the morning air, he catches a glimpse of a diamond axe on the ground. Immediately, the dark haired angel knows that it belongs to his comrade, Jerome.

He swoops down to retrieve it, only to lay eyes on a demon girl pinning Jerome on the ground, her sword ready to end his life. Ian grimaces and dives, knocking her into the side of a building with one swift moment. Jerome scrambles to his feet and grabs his axe before the two take off into the sky.

"Thank you," the bacca gasps. "I thought I was a goner."

"You probably were. How did she pin you?" Ian demands.

"It's exactly as Notch said it. They're a lot stronger than we think," Jerome replies. The human angel sighs heavily and touches down on a roof where the other angels are waiting.

"Where did you go? You know we're supposed to have a plan, right?" Jason scolds.

"I know we're supposed to have a plan, but I saw a demon hunting and figured I should save somebody's life today," Jerome shoots back, brushing dust out of his fur. Quintana spots his arm and starts healing it immediately.

"Then I had to save his life, because apparently 'these demons are stronger than anything we've ever faced before'," Ian quotes.

"That's not good," Ty mumbles. He has thick, shaggy brown hair and Ender wings, unlike the rest of the angels. He always wears the same green and black headphones and a white shirt. His eyes are a deep royal purple, almost black. Surprisingly, he looks fairly normal. He used to look scarier, with half of his face being black with purple cracks and his eyes being bright purple flames.

"Let's split up, okay? Cover more ground," Adam suggests, his hazel eyes scanning his teammates.

"Good plan," Quintana says. "I'll go after the wolf."

"Alright, the rest of us go after the demon chicks. Jason, help Quintana," Mitch orders. The mudkip girl rolls her eyes, but doesn't protest. Mitch looks to Adam for approval, and the captain nods. Jason nods as well, and he heads off with Quintana. The rest of the angels split up and start flying all over the city, hunting for demons.
