Chapter 29

Quintana, Mitch, and Jerome fly past Jason, beckoning him to follow. When Jason sees the state of his brother, he flies as fast as he can after them. The four of them reach the castle, where all the other angels and Notch wait in the throne room.

"What happened?" Notch asks when he lays eyes on Jerome.

"Herobrine," the bacca mumbles in response.

Notch slams his fist on his throne, making everyone jump. Notch stands up and paces around the room, tapping his bearded chin.

"Quintana, how long will it take you to heal him?"

The mudkip girl frowns and looks at Jerome's injuries.

"Well, he only has one small cut. That will take no time with healing potions. As for the internal injuries, probably a day."

Notch sighs.

"Then I'll do it. We have a war to fight today."

He walks over to Jerome and places healing magic over him. Immediately, Jerome stands straighter and takes a huge breath.

"That feels so much better," he says.

"Good. Now, what happened over in the castle?" the king asks.

Jerome explains what happened to everyone, only to have an eerie silence follow.

This is bad, Jason thinks.

Notch rises from his throne, his face serious and almost sad.

"Everyone to the armouries. We have a war to fight."

The other angels follow without a word, but Jason stays back, his thoughts buzzing around like angry flies.

"What about peace?" he demands. "We were raised to keep the peace, and now we're fighting a war without a second thought? Doesn't that seem wrong to you?"

Notch turns to him, a burning light in his eyes that none of them had ever seen before.

"There is no other option, Jason. Herobrine will stop at nothing to end us, and if we just sit back and "keep the peace," he'll stroll in here and slit our throats. Then he'll start on the other cities until eventually, Vendaviel is ruled by him. What happened to your brothers is going to happen to women and children all across the land. This war is going to start here and it's going to end here."

With that, Notch walks to the armouries. Jason lapses into silence and doesn't ask any more questions. He follows Notch and the other angels and begins to put on his armour.

"How do we know that we can actually kill Herobrine? We failed last time," Ian asks as he fills his quiver with arrows.

"You must have faith, Ian. Do your best, and use whatever help you can get," Notch replies. He continues to put on his armour and doesn't elaborate on his words.

When everyone is suited up, Adam faces his siblings.

"Whatever happens, we'll always be there for each other," he says. He's wearing full golden armour and holding an enchanted sword made from the same ore.

"Cheeseball," Quintana chuckles, but her eyes reflect the same fear that they're all feeling.

"Just promise me that none of you are going to get killed," Ian pleads. Everyone nods, but there's no way to be sure that they'll all come out of this alive.

Most of the demons have changed their ways for the most part, Jason thinks. The only two that will kill without hesitation is the wolf and Herobrine.

Notch faces the seven angels, wearing full diamond armour. His sword is a mixture of diamond, iron, gold, and obsidian, making it one of the most lethal weapons in the world. As he looks at the angels, his face is solemn but determined.

"Are you ready?"
