Chapter 26
The demons leave Mitch and Jerome in the dungeon and the others begin to walk upstairs. Khali, on the other hand, falls behind the group and runs to their shared cell.
"Jerome, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen," she says, guilt filling her voice.
"It's okay, Khali. It's not your fault," Jerome replies. He reaches his paw through the bars and touches her shoulder gently.
"It's not okay. I should've done something," Khali says.
Jerome looks at her sternly and grips her shoulder tighter.
"Don't talk like that. Mitch and I are going to get out of here eventually. Now go before the others come looking for you. Don't get yourself in more trouble than you already have."
Khali begins to protest, but Jerome just nudges her towards the exit. She looks back at him once more, and he nods once. Khali smiles slightly and goes up the stairs to the throne room.

"Bring one of them to me. I need him for means of interrogation," Herobrine orders, pacing his throne room. His white eyes are glowing brighter than usual, looking incredibly out of place in the dark room.
"What are you going to do?" Wolfie asks. Justina sits in the rafters, listening.
"None of your business. Both of you, bring me an angel!"
Wolfie nods quickly and heads down to the dungeon, followed closely by the Ender girl.
When they reach the dungeon, Mitch and Jerome both glare at them from their cell. Mitch has his wings wrapped around his body, which is still weak from his previous beating.
"We need to bring one of you to Herobrine," the wolf says.
"Go to hell," Mitch replies coldly.
"That's where I was born. I've already been there," Wolfie snaps.
"Take the bacca. He's less injured," Justina suggests. Jerome glares daggers at her.
"That makes us look weak. We should take the other one. Herobrine will be pleased if he sees how badly I beat him up," the male demon says. Justina nods slightly in agreement, but feels uncomfortable with how cold her brother has become.
"You're a bastard," Mitch snarls. Jerome looks to his brother and stands up.
"Take me. Leave him alone," he pleads. "He's been through enough."
Mitch stares at Jerome and tries to stand, but can't.
The wolf narrows his eyes, but silently agrees. He drags Jerome from their cell, much to the distress of his brother.
"Jerome! No... Jerome!" Mitch yells as his brother is dragged away. He bangs on the bars and slides to the ground, tears glistening in his eyes. Justina looks away from Mitch, the ice around her heart melting at the sight of his pain.
They care about each other... they genuinely care... she thinks. It hurts her to watch the angel's distress, so she silently follows her brother out of the dungeon without looking back.
They reach the throne room with Jerome and are met with the sounds of Herobrine cackling. Camryn stands at his side, looking more excited than any Enderman Jerome had ever seen.
"Finally, I get the opportunity to torture an angel. Oh, I've been waiting for so long."
Jerome narrows his eyes at the Dark Lord but doesn't say anything. Wolfie shoves the bacca to his knees, making the angel grimace.
"Do you know what I plan to do with you?" Herobrine asks, approaching Jerome.
"Isn't it always a bad idea for the villain to tell all of his plans to the good guys because we always manage to get away from you assholes?" the bacca asks, smirking. Herobrine growls and whips out his sword, dragging it along Jerome's face. He clenches his teeth together as blood dampens his fur, but doesn't cry out.
"Shut up. You and the other angel are going to be sacrifices to official start the war between us, and it will bring me great joy to see the look on Notch's face when he sees your guts spilling onto the concrete below you. Now, I torture you. Later, I kill you. Understand?" Herobrine asks. "Also, you know Ty? Your brother? After tomorrow, when you're dead, I'm going to capture him and turn him back into a demon. He's stronger now, and it would be worth it to have him back on my side."
Jerome takes a deep breath, the Dark Lord's words chilling him to the bone.
"You won't get the chance to see that. Sorry bud, but I don't feel like dying tomorrow. And Ty will never go back to you. He will find a way to slit your throat," the bacca says, mustering his courage. Herobrine scowls and kicks the angel, sending him sprawling across the floor. He lifts Jerome up by the collar of his shirt and punches him in the face, nearly knocking the angel out. He throws him aside like a dirty rag and storms to his throne, sitting down and glaring at the nearly unconscious angel.
"Take him back to the dungeon. He dies tomorrow."
Wolfie drags Jerome to his feet. The bacca, barely able to stand, falls to his knees again. As the wolf is about to kick him, Justina stops him.
"That will make it harder to get him to the dungeon. Come on."
Wolfie snarls and drags Jerome back to their cell with Justina right behind him. When Mitch sees his brother, a strangled cry escapes his lips.
"Jerome? Biggums?"
Wolfie tosses the bacca like a rag doll into the cell and storms out. Justina lingers behind, watching the angel in plaid.
"He's alive." She grabs a rag from a hook on the wall and hands it to Mitch. "Mop up that blood on his left cheek, okay?"
Mitch scrambles to his brother's side and presses the rag to his face. Jerome coughs, blinking wearily.
"Mitch, they're going to sacrifice us."
The angel in plaid looks up at Justina for conformation. The Ender nods sadly.
"Look, I don't agree with it. I'm going to see if I can find someone can help you out of here."
"Thank you," Mitch says, helping his brother into a sitting position.
"You're welcome. It's the least I could do after you saved my sister," Justina says.
With that, the Ender demon leaves the dungeon.
