Monte's shack

Winter's POV

I head towards the little shack in the woods.
It's just as I remember it. It's built of woods poles standing up and a hay roof. A little doorway is cut out of the shack.
"Uncle Monte? Are you here?" I ask.
Out of nowhere a puff of smoke comes out and Monte appears.
"I'm here Winter. It's so good to see you again" he says pulling me into a hug.
"I need your help" I tell him pulling away.
I've known Monte since I was little.

Jess's POV (Winter's mom)

"Kaydon! We need to get her to Monte!" I scream picking up my five year old daughter.
"Who the hell is Monte?" He screams back running up to me.
"My brother now we need to go or we'll lose her" I say holding an unconscious Winter in my arms.
"He lives in the woods he'll know how to cure her. He knows everything" I trail off looking down at my beautiful baby girl.
"Then let's go" he says leading me to his car.
As I give him directions I notice Winter's heartbeat is slowing.
"Drive faster we are losing her. I can't lose another child Kaydon" I say referring to Jameson, my son who got lost in the woods at the age of three.
I feel the tears brimming my eyes and a few trickle down my cheek and drip on to Winter.
"It's going to be alright baby" I whisper to her.
A few minutes later we arrive at the newly built shack.
"Brother Monte? Are you here?" I ask reciting the chant he told me to say.
Relationship, his name in a question. Ask if he's there.
A puff of smoke comes out and Monte appears.
"So good to see you again Jess. What happened to Winter? I had a feeling you were coming" he says taking Winter from me and inspecting her.
"She inhaled wolfsbane dust" I said.
"Ok well she still has a heartbeat which is good but it won't be there in a few minutes unless I inject her with the right cure" he says looking over his shelves and picks up a green liquid in a tiny glass bottle.
"Will that cure her" I ask him.
"Yes but she'll lose her voice for a week" he says taking a needle and sucking up the liquid in it.
" sanabit venenata," he whispers to the potion and it turns from a light green to a deep blue.
"What does that mean?" Kaydon asks.
"Heal the poisoned" he says taking the needle and poking Winter in her arm.
After a few minutes she coughs and sits up. She tries to speak but a squeak only comes out.
"Oh baby you're alright. I thought I lost you" I tell her.
She gives me a questioning look.
"You inhaled wolfsbane dust and were unconscious for a bit but your uncle Monte saved you. You just won't have your voice for a week" I told her.
She nodded.
"I'm so glad you're back sweetie" Kaydon says squeezing her.

Winter's POV

My mom told me that story when I was 10 and I still remember what happened when I woke up.
"What do you need help with?" Monte asks "I knew you were coming over a few days ago just didn't know when. Would you like some tea?" He finishes.
"Yes please" I say noticing I'm quite thirsty.
" tea ligna facere coletur tui foliis pulchris " he says holding out his hand and a puff of smoke comes out and when it's gone there is a tray with a pot of tea and two cups.
"Do all spells have to be in Latin?" I ask.
"Yes I have a lot of copies of my spell book. Would you like one of them?" He asks.
"No thank you, but what did that mean? You know the one where you made tea appear" I ask again.
"trees of tea make the brew of your beautiful leaves" he says pouring me and himself a cup "but it's not an accurate translation if you look it up on Google translation none of them are" he said.
"I would think a wizard like you would be against technology" I say.
"Well it can come in handy sometimes but Google doesn't help me at all so I try not to use it"
"Anyway. My mate, alpha Xander, has been sprayed with wolfsbane, janim and volcrum" I say repeating the toxins that Mrs. Wimble said to me.
"All three of them? In a spray?" He asks and I nod my head "well I'll have to have a sample of his blood to make a cure. It'll take me about a week and you know the consequence of all my cures remember? One week of complete silence he will not be able to speak for that long, but he will be able to mind link and shift when he wakes up" he tells me as I take a sip of the now cooled down tea.
"Well I will get you the sample by tomorrow and it was really nice seeing you again uncle Monte" I tell him taking another sip.
"Come by anytime you need me. When Xander wakes up and gets his voice back come visit me. I'd like to meet my future nephew-in-law" he chuckles as I blush.
We sit there going through the whole pitcher of tea talking about my family.
"Have you found your mate?" I randomly ask him.
"Yes I did but she died in a fire at her pack house" he says.
"Then how are you still alive? Most wolves who have there mate gone die in the first month of being without them" I say astonished.
"Well I've been taking a potion every year and even though I lose my voice for a week the void is artificially filled and I stay alive for another year until I take it again" he says.
"If you take it can you stay alive forever?" I ask him curious of the answer.
"I'm not allowed to tell you but it doesn't matter to me you're family. Yes you can survive on the potion forever but if this secret gets out the authorization will have me almost drowned in gasoline then set me on fire to die"
"Yes it's true. It was in the contract which most people don't read but i did. They told me they'll shoot the person you told and they'll do the thing I said to the wizard" he explained after I had a shocked expression on my face.
"Wow that's harsh. I'll get you the blood test tomorrow. See you later" I said getting up and hugging him.
"I'll be here. I love you" he says letting go.
I waved as I walked out "love you too" i say stripping behind a tree and shifting them running to me house.
This might be harder than I bargained for.

Ooooo is going to get the blood?
What will happen?
She has a brother?
Omg so much stuff happened in this chapter.
Her uncle is a wizard? What?
