Test 3
(Quentin's POV (11 years old))
I followed Ssundee down the sandy path, just letting my mind wander. I sipped my water, shuddering as the memory of the day i didn't have any water came back. Something caught my eye and I looked to the left. A bundle of red sticks wrapped in a white band with bold black letters
I walked over and examined the letters. I wasn't good at reading. "T-T.... T.... Is that a M or a N? ..... I think N. TNT." I picked up the bundle. It felt familiar, but I couldn't remember from where.
"Q? Quentin where are you?!" Ssundee called.
I put the TNT in my pack and stepped back onto the path. "I'm right here!"
He sighed in relief. "Why'd you go off the path?"
"I umm...." I didn't want him to know about the TNT. I wanted it to be a surprise. Then I noticed I accidently dumped my water. "I dropped my water bottle."
"Oh OK. Well when we reach the others you can get more." He said.
"OK."
"Come on." He turned and kept going down the path, me following right behind.
We reached SkyHub - the weird name Sky gave his partly floating house - and the others exploded out of the house. "Finally!" Sky exclaimed.
"Took ya guys long enough. I swear Jerome was about to explode waiting for the cake." Mitch laughed. Jerome gave us his infamous Bacca death hug, Ssundee letting out a grunt and me coughing a bit.
"So where's the birthday boy?" I spoke too soon because as soon as the words left my mouth, I felt the impact as an egg connected with the back of my head. Ssundee received the same result and we both whipped around to see the faint green glow of Ty's headphones through the leaves.
He jumped down and gave us a sly grin. "That's what you get for being late."
"Really?!" I exclaimed as Ssundee went to a rant of protest and excuses for being late. But I couldn't be mad at him. 2 years ago he was pale and couldn't throw a ball without Sky's help. Now he's standing on his own and is launching eggs at people for fun.
Sky patted Ty's head, sending a happy feeling through me. Sky and Ty were as close as Jerome and Mitch, which was saying something. Sky's loud and goofy, but he really cares about Ty.
Jerome's voice cut into my thoughts. "Cake time?"
"Cake time." Ssundee replied, pulling out 2 chocolate cakes with white frosting and green writing saying 'Happy Birthday Ty!'.
"Yay!" Jerome explained, doing a little bounce.
Mitch laughed and grabbed his arm. "Easy Biggums."
Ssundee passed out pieces of the cake, giving the entire second cake to Jerome, who practically smashed his face into with hunger.
I always liked Ssundee's cakes. They were soft enough for me to eat, unlike other cakes where you have to chew. Plus they were just delicious in general. I finished my piece and watched the others eat while Mitch helped Jerome get cake out of his fur.
My mind went back to the TNT. "I'm going to get some water." I said to Ssundee.
"Oh right, you dropped yours. OK." He replied.
I got up and went far enough from the others so they couldn't see me. I plopped down and pulled out the TNT. As I examined it, an image from when I was young popped in my head. It was of Nate and I finding a bundle similar to this and making it explode.
But the other one was different. It had green stripes and a yellow and black symbol. How did Nate get it to explode? A flint and steel?
To my surprise, I found myself pulling out my flint and steel. I started creating sparks, my heart fluttering every time I did. The TNT ignited and something told me to run.
Scrambling up, I ran a few feet and the TNT exploded, knocking me flat on my face. I laid there dazed, my ears ringing. I slowly sat up as Ssundee appeared next to me.
"Quentin?!! Are you ok?!!" He asked, but i could barely hear him over the ringing. The others stood near by, talking and giving me concerned looks.
I looked at the spot the TNT had been, remembering the feeling, hanging onto every moment. The flutter of excitement with each spark, the satisfying sizzle as it ignited, the thrill of it exploding. A slow grin appeared on my face and I bursted into laughter.
(Ssundee's POV (12 years old))
I jumped up and ran towards the sound of the explosion. To my horror I saw Quentin laying on the ground, his back slightly charred. "Q!!!" I yelled, running over and bending down by him. I was filled with relief as he sat up.
I could hear the others asking 'What happened?'. I was wondering the same thing. Did Q get attacked by a creeper?! "Quentin?!! Are you ok?!!" I asked, not being able to mask the concern in my voice.
He didn't answer. Just stared at the explosion hole blankly. Maybe he was in shock? "Q?" I called his name softly.
Slowly, a grin appeared on his face and he started laughing. We all stared at him in confusion. I'm pretty sure if he was attacked by a creeper, he wouldn't be laughing.
"Wait.... Q.... D-did you set off TNT?" Jason asked slowly. Q responded with a happy nod.
My mouth fell open with shock. "Quentin!! What were you thinking?! TNT's dangerous! It could've killed you!!" I exclaimed, trying to believe he would do something so stupid.
"But it was fun!" Q replied happily and continued laughing. Now we were all staring at him in shock.
"Is he insane?" Ty whispered softly to the others. I was starting to think he was. It didn't help that he was covered in soot and dust, laughing like a maniac.
"So the water creature is a pyro." Sky stated.
End
My friend was complaining that all my stories are sad so here's a "funny" one. Yeah. Bye.
