Wake
The first thing he became aware of, was that he felt as weak as a kitten.
The pain was second, he didn't know why it was seconds with how each injury burned with that pain. Likely, his mind trying to deal.
His head aches from an echo of that pain and not enough water, his ecto tongue felt like sand paper.
"Try not to move, your still healing," a voice whispered.
"Where?" he rasped, then coughed and moments later he felt the top of a water bottle. It was rather warm, but better then nothing.
"Rest..." the voice said firmly, Blue sunk back into darkness.
------
Tempest was tired, he still didn't trust his strength on moving the other monster safely as so far they'd only briefly woken up.
He'd had to do a lot more runs, very carefully as he didn't want to get noticed.
On a campfire a wobbly pot was warming soup, a chicken type but filled with monster magic which apparently you needed to heal properly. Then he'd have to let it cool enough to eat, if his... guest didn't wake he'd have to feed them and they were heavy to get in the right position to not choke.
His stomach grumbled hungrily, the soup smelled rather good.
He would kill for peaches, before everything went down Nightmare and himself would climb a nearby tree for them. It had been sweet on his tongue, the juice dripping down his chin.
"Brother Look, the first Peach of the season!" Nightmare crowed legs clamped around a large branch holding up a slightly small fruit in his hands.
Happier times, he still couldn't connect that Nightmare to the rage and hate filled Nightmare of that day.
"The soup!" he cried saving it from burning, he'd zoned out and now it was starting to overcook. He whined a bit at a slight burning smell, but he wouldn't toss it as he had to eat and so did his chest. He placed the Pot onto a flat rock carefully, he used this one for cooling his few pots and his one frying pan that had a bad handle.
"Don't.. wor... worry Sometimes soups tastes better overcooked," a faint voice said clearly struggling to speak, Tempest squeaks and stumbled several feet away.
His guest was awake, Blue was awake.
"Are you okay?" Blue asked worriedly, as Tempest looked at Blue shocked.
"Your.. your awake.." Tempest squeaked, quickly making sure he still had his gloved on and all parts of his arm covered he went over and helped Blue sit up using more blankets and pillows he'd gotten via donation bins.
"Thank you," Blue said quietly, watching Tempest pour the soup into two mugs and come over.
"Food first," Tempest said helping them eat, mostly by making sure the weakened Blue wouldn't spill and burn themselves in error.
Blue felt much more alive once he ate, and waited till Tempest could eat.
"My name is Blue, thank you for saving me as I know I was badly hurt. May I have yours?" Blue asked politely, very confused on why a child that almost looked exactly like Dream was there.
"Tempest," tempest replied quietly.
"Do you have a phone, I need to Call my friends. They must be extremely worried?" Blue asked. Aso likely a hospital to make sure he was okay and healing correctly.
"Um...." Tempest said awkwardly, he didn't have a phone.
"Is something wrong?"
"You've been here two weeks, but... this is from this morning," Tempest said giving Blue teh newspaper, it was from today.
"This.. that's nowt me," Blue said looking faint.
"No.. I had a feeling it wasn't," Tempest said quietly.
"I thought I hallucinated myself attacking myself due to pain," Blue said in a whisper.
Someone had tried to murder him, and likely thought him dead.
He stared at the picture on the newspaper again, at the Fake him, Ink grinning like an idiot and the Dream that had always felt wrong. His eyes turned to Tempest, a child that seemed terrified of touch for some reason.
"That's not the real Dream either is it..."
Tempests non answer, was an answer either way.
