Alesa

"Wait a minute," I said, not sure whether or not I should believe it or not. "You're the 'boss' those other things were talking about?"

"Really? They said 'boss'? Aw, that's nice of them. Should give them a pay raise." The girl said. "Not that they get paid anything, of course."

"But...you're just a little girl!"

Her smile vanished, and her red eyes felt like they could see right through me.

"I can assure you, I am much more than this vessel makes me seem."

"V...vessel?" I asked, more confused than I had ever been. Didn't help that I felt like I might have thrown up. Heads up to anyone wondering: a mix of pure terror at being literally kidnapped and utter confusion is one of the worst mixes. "So...that would make you a-"

"Oh, dear lord, yes, I'm a demon. If I had a nickel for every time I got asked that question."

I backed up as fast as I could until my back hit a wall. "Leave me alone, please! I've done nothing bad!"

"Funny you should say that." The girl said, not coming closer. "Because actually, you haven't. It's interesting, I've been across quite a few dimensions and I have yet to find one where you're even the slightest bit evil. Almost a little disturbing how good you are. It kind of sickens me."

"What are you talking about? Dimensions?" I asked, trying to keep myself from freaking out, but it was clear my voice was giving me away.

"Oh right, I forget how little you humans can actually see. Well, it doesn't matter. You don't need to know about dimensions."

"So...you're possessing a kid, that's what you're telling me?"

"Really? All that and that's what you're getting out of this?" She sighed. "Damn, you're just as good in this dimension as you are in all the others, huh?"

She took a step closer and I moved to the right, hoping to be able to avoid her.

"Aw, you don't need to worry at all. I'm not going to hurt a hair on your head. And yes, to answer your question, I am possessing a kid. A rather obnoxious kid at that. She constantly screams at me that she's going to kill me. Leaves me with a bit of a headache."

"Is she okay? Are you hurting he-"

The girl stopped me. "Okay, let me stop you right there. First of all, you really shouldn't be worrying about her situation, you should be worrying about yours. I said I wouldn't hurt you, but I didn't say how long that promise remains intact. I don't feel like getting my hands bloody as of right now, but if it's necessary, or if I'm bored..."

It felt like the temperature dropped about twenty degrees. Was this girl, this demon, really going to hurt me? Was she bluffing?

"Let's just say you may have a hard time asking any more questions when I'm done."

This can't be happening. This can't be happening. I thought. I've been kidnapped by a crazy bloodthirsty demon.

"Secondly, I figured I should let you know how this is all going to go. Clearly, the Shadows actually found you without messing something up, big shocker there, and now you're here. Thank Notch. I'd like you to know you'll be greatly helping my goals."

"And...y-your goals are?"

"Wow. You never run out of questions, do you?" She asked. "Well, you may not know this, but I've been at a war for quite some time now. It's a war I'll eventually win, but a war nonetheless. And my enemy? Goes by the name Sky. And you-"

She pointed at me, and I flinched, leaning backwards as far as I could, even though my back was already pressed to a wall.

"You're usually there. Right by his side. His precious girlfriend Alesa, who he'd do anything for. Gag. Admittedly, sometimes you aren't there, and sometimes you're not dating or whatever, but he still cares about you."

"I don't...I don't know what you're talking about." I said. "I've never even heard of someone called Sky."

She sighed. "You could be lying, you could be telling the truth. I really don't care. Either way, he's too much of a hero to let someone innocent die. Especially if that someone is one of his greatest weaknesses."

She turned away, not staring straight through me anymore. "So, I'm gonna make a little call. Tell him the rules, and what's going down. He gets a week to find his way here, alone, and hand over that precious amulet of his."

"And if he doesn't?" I asked, even though I had no idea what the "amulet" was.

The girl smirked. "Then you die."

My hands started shaking. "No...please...I don't want to die!"

"Tell that to him." The girl said. "And you'll be able to, in a few seconds. I'm just going to have to-"

The girl stopped, frowning. "Listen here, brat, if you think you can just take back-"

She collapsed to the ground, completely silent.

Cautiously, I moved away from the wall slightly. Was she dead?

Without warning, she looked up, and I shrieked at the sudden movement.

"Oh my Notch, I'm sorry!" She yelled, and it was right then that I noticed her eyes weren't red anymore. They were a dark green color.

"You're...you're not the demon?" I asked.

"No, no, I'm not that evil son of a-" She stopped herself. "Right. Sorry. I can't hold him back for long, so you have to listen to me, okay?"

I nodded, and she continued.

"I'm trying to stop him as best I can. At most I can slow him down a bit. Please, don't seem scared when he shows Sky you're here. It's a trap for him. He's just going to kill Sky, and everyone who's with him, okay? If you don't seem scared, it might buy them some time."

"Are you sure?"

"As close to sure as I can be. When the camera's off, just do whatever he says. He might not hurt you if you do that."

"How'd you..." I started. "How'd you get yourself into this mess? How old are you?"

"Fourteen." She said. "And trust me, it's a long story. My name's Skylar, he's Darklox. If you're not sure who it is, look for the eyes. I'm green, he's red, it might save you at some point."

Fourteen. This girl was fourteen and she was enduring a demon possessing her. Not only that, but she was fighting to stop him.

"Are you okay? Is he hurting you?"

"Don't worry about me." She said. "I'll be fine, I always have been. Worry about yourself, you're the one who's in danger."

"But you-"

She froze. "He's coming back. I can't hold him back for much longer, I'm so sorry-"

She stopped talking, and I watched her eyes change from green to red in a split second. I jumped backwards, and she laughed.

"Wow. Gotta say, kid, you almost got me there, but not quite!"

She turned her back to me, raising her hand in the air. "You stay back there. We've got a call to make."
