1-Thursdays
A/N: This is a picture of Taylor for you! I'm going to do this every chappie!
Christmas Break at my school starts on Thursdays.
Personally, I find it so incredibly stupid. The sixth graders were let out on Friday's, but we weren't. We are the underdogs of our school, the eighth graders. I remember when I was in sixth grade. I always died when one of them even took a glance my way. The good ol' days. Seventh graders don't care for us too much. They look our way and then break eye contact. That's just how it is in Georgia. Or at least at my school.
I tap the tips of the nails on the table, watching my friends. Their lips were moving so fast with plans for the long break ahead of us. I let a short breath escape my mouth. My PB&J sandwich lay on my tray frozen to the touch. The brunette hair attached to my head falls in front of my eyes. With only a quick breath it moved at my command.
"What are you doing on Christmas break Taylor?" A boy asked me. My eyes fluttered to him. I hadn't seen him approach. His chocolate curls covered his rosy pink ears; his eyes a bright brown as well. A small beige sweater cloaked his body in efforts to warm him.
"I'm going to Detroit," I said, looking back into his eyes. Everyone had turned towards me eager to know. "My grandmother wanted me to go," I explained poking at my carrots. Ew. Everyone shrugged and stared at each other. "You should stay in touch, Tay," He practically choked out. I scrunched my face at his quick excuse of a nickname for a stranger. Predictable was what he was. He was only trying to show off to Rachel, my best friend of all time, of course. She widened her mouth into a smile of her own. Rachel had obviously noticed my disgust from across the table.
"She knows better, Mason," said Rachel with a big grin directed towards me. So that's who he was. Mason was most likely another nerd that Rachel once again invited for a seat at our table. A girl looked at me with her light lip gloss smeared on her face. I directed my eyes back at her in competition as she looked me down. Rachel and Mason had entered their own little talk.
"Isn't it a little too cold for you up there?" The girl asked. Her voice was caked with curiosity and jealousy. I shrugged, only my mind could imagine the type of weather I'd have to endure for the next two weeks. She pulled her mouth into a small smirk. "I would sure hope you don't freeze up there. We'd miss you," Her tone changed. I opened my mouth to retort at her when Mason looked at her. "I sure hope you don't waste your time over here. Lunch is almost over, and I'm pretty sure that you have a test that you didn't study for after this," He shook his head, "You should be using this time to at least make a fifty, sweetheart." The girl gaped like a fish asking for water. Finally, with one quick motion, she was on her way to a table full of girls. Rachel let out a high pitched squeal and started laughing. I stared at Mason who was no longer looking my way. That was nice of him, even if I had a mouth of my own.
"Mason," I said. The clock was ticking, and like Mason had said, lunch was almost over. Everyone at the table turned their heads towards me. "Thanks. Do you maybe," I started, looking at my food. Rachel stared at my food in hunger. "Want to come over with Rachel and I to my house after Christmas Break?" I blurted out under the gaze of everyone. Some of the kids snorted at me, but Rachel nodded at my anxious figure and looked at Mason. He grinned at me and nodded, "I'd love to."
As if on cue, the bell rung and I threw my lunch away. So many thoughts raced in my childish mind. Did I just ask him on a date? Was it basically a date even if Rachel was there? What am I even doing? I don't even know him! That's when I came to a conclusion. I only liked him because of his looks. I laughed to myself. Me and my hormonal mind acting up again. I pushed it to the back of my mind and went to the last class of the day. I had more important things to worry about...
I squeezed Rachel tight as my stop neared. She pat my back in sympathy. "I swear to the almighty god of this world, you better keep in contact for these two weeks," She muttered in my ear. Her voice sent chills down my back. I breathed on her jacket. "Do you hear me, Taylor Reginald?" The bus met my house with a screeching halt. I rolled my eyes and pulled away. "Of course. I should be telling that to you, Rachel Amber," I joked punching her shoulder and grabbing my heavy book bag. "I'll write a story just for you. Okay Rach?" I asked, looking into her eyes. She nodded as I slowly walked off the bus. I should've been overjoyed about a two week break, but I wasn't in the slightest. I looked at my house. I'd only be here for the night. My hand pushed the door slightly open. The house was loud with Mom's music and Dad's TV.
I walked up the stairs to my room. My mom was in the middle of it dancing her old heart out. I laughed and made myself noticeable to her gaze. She turned a bright shade of red and straightened herself up. My attention unfolded to the two suitcases on my bed. I hadn't noticed until now, but my room was slightly more empty. The closet was barer than usual, and many items taken off my dresser and floor. Mom came to hug me and engulf me in her strawberry scent. Her frail face formed a smile as her arms made their way around my waist.
"How was school, honey?" She asked in the sweetest tone. Oh, I loved this woman so much. "Was everyone excited to leave? I bet they were!" She predicted scrambling back to my suitcases. She was a great at multitasking unlike me. I flopped on my bed near her.
"Yeah. Tristan and Aubrey were passing notes all day. Ya' know about them right?" I paused waiting for her response. She nodded while still shuffling my bags. "Well, Rachel introduced to me this boy named Mason-" I started before she interrupted me. Her face like a stone wall. "Mason? Mason who? What's he look like? Who're his parents? How does he act? What are his grades? Where does he live so I can interrogate him?" She quickly popped out the questions. Mom was a beautiful human being, but I hated it when she wouldn't let me finish. It was just her thing. I let out a forced laugh, and she instantly said sorry. She knew me so well.
"I don't know what his last name is. He has brown hair and blue eyes with nice shaped lips just like Rachel's. I don't know his parents. I barely know him Mom! How do I answer all this questions?" I joked. I stared at the ceiling. My mom started to laugh. "So what you paid attention to was his lips? How'd you know they were like Rachel's? You thinking about lips Taylor?" She questioned. My eyes widened. She was taking the complete wrong look at things. "Mom!" I shouted throwing a pillow at her. She caught it with one hand at smiled.
"Well, It's almost time for bed. You have a long day tomorrow, so I'll leave you to pack whatever else you want to pack," Mom said slowly walking to the door.
"Mom?"
"Yeah?" She asked looking at me.
"I love you" Her smile was warm as I said those words.
"I love you too Taylor. Night," And with that, she was out the door. I grabbed my laptop from my stuffed book bag. It's screen brightened at my finger's movement to press the power button. A page instantly opened. I opened my account and it brought up a blank page. A new book. I always liked starting new books. The pitter patter of the keyboard as I thought of a new world. What better time to write then when inspiration was in front of my face?
And so I wrote until midnight. That way I knew the day of my new adventure.

HI! Hehe. I've been reading stories for so long! So many romances just to get a grip on what romance feels like. I hope that I can please. I've already grown attached to Taylor in a way. She's a lot like me.
That's what I wanted though. I needed to make characters that relate to me. Taylor has my creative side. Rachel has my overly excited side. Mason has my sassy side. This whole paragraph makes it seem like I'm bipolar I just realized. I'm not if you were wondering!
