Chapter 16: Back
Alissa walked along with the dirt grass, sighing as she kicked the small rocks and crumpled the dried up leaves with her foot. It saddened her that this was the reality she was walking into for the rest of her life, almost feeling defeated. God knew who Wyatt had murdered around her child while she was gone, hopefully Celare was alright and nothing was wrong with him.
Once she reached the house, a lump formed in her throat. She dreaded twisting the knob and walking inside, she couldn't do it. Her body restricted her from making another twitch, standing still five feet away from the front door. Somehow, she convinced herself she had to get over it and move on – almost pretend as if it wasn't even happening.
She mustered up the courage and walked until she reached the front door, twisting the knob and opening the door and welcoming herself in. There was some sort of relief of being at home and not sleeping over at another person's house. However, when she realized the truth of living at home it scared her a little.
Alissa was about to walk upstairs, hoping to catch one night of proper sleep and not staying up till the sunrise like Andrew. But she was halted by Wyatt's invitation for dinner.
"Hey, dinner's been ready since an hour ago." Wyatt called out, peeking his head in order to see Alissa.
She gulped, letting go of the stair railing. Her eyes rolled like an agitated teenager, and her posture went from calm to stiff. Alissa walked back and to the kitchen where the dinner table was situated - a fresh bowl of César salad and a plate of rib eye steak awaited her.
As she was about to pull the chair out for herself to take a seat, she realized who was sitting next to her - Tara.
"I'm not having dinner with a doll." She mumbled under her breath.
"Then you can go upstairs and starve." Wyatt simply replied, grabbing the salad and adding it to his plate.
Alissa looked at him, on the verge of yelling at him, or even slapping him, but she knew she couldn't do it. Just to avoid any useless bickering, she sat down and added the food to her plate.
The dinner proceeded rather quietly, an awkward silence being evident in the room. Alissa had taken notice of the android sitting idly as the full plate hadn't been touched.
"Couldn't program her to eat?"
"She'll eat when she wants to, she's shy."
"Wyatt, she's not even real."
Wyatt ignored her, continuing to eat as he focused more on Tara than his own girlfriend.
Suddenly, Alissa's gaze averted to her baby, realizing he had stitches on his upper lip. She jolted out of her seat and quickly rushed over to her child, unbuckling him from his high chair and protecting him by shielding Celare away from Wyatt.
"Put him down." Wyatt stood up, towering over the two of them.
"You performed surgery, God knows what infection he has now!"
"Alissa, put him down or I'll put you both down."
She fast walked to the stairs, hurriedly running away from Wyatt as he chased her. Alissa ran to their bedroom and slammed it shut, locking it.
"Shh, it's okay Ce, don't worry okay? Mommy's going to get you out of this." Alissa calmed her whimpering baby down.
Her hands were shaking with fear for the consequences she would experience if the escape didn't work.
Although the baby had calmed down, Alissa found it difficult to keep a calm breathing pattern. Wyatt's fists that slammed against the door, with the thought of being killed by him were all to much for her to handle, let alone think straight.
"Open the door!" Wyatt screamed, the pounding growing louder with every order he gave her.
Eventually, Celare began to wail, making Alissa's thinking ten times more clouded than it already was. Without hesitation, she grabbed her child in her arms, holding him close and making sure her body would be impacted more by the fall.
Alissa struggled to open the window with one hand, gasping as she looked down and saw the height. In the way of the window and gravel ground, lied absolutely nothing - she would be landing on rock fragments and possibly injuring herself. Nevertheless she took the risk, sitting down on the edge of the window with her back facing towards the backyard.
"Jesus, please forgive me." Alissa quietly said to herself, clutching onto her now bawling baby for life.
With a mental countdown to three, she relaxed her body and fell backwards. The fall was rough for Alissa, having a concussion and small bleeding seeping out of her skull. Nevertheless, she opened her eyes and saw she had made it out of the house. She looked down and saw Celare looking around confused, hoping he would find an answer as to where he is.
Alissa didn't waste any time, she got up and attempted to make a run for it across the lake, running as fast as she could with a baby in her arm. Although her vision was blurry, she managed to almost make it - right until she felt a sharp, dart like sensation pinch her neck. This made her stop in her tracks, grazing her free hand over whatever pierced her neck. She yanked it out, staring at it and seeing the large shape of the white dart, the end's coated in red with the initials 'WW' on them. It didn't take long for her to fall inside the lake, going completely unconscious.
