Soccer Practice

Owen's POV

Soccer is my entire life, after high school, I'm probably gonna go pro. No. Wait. I am going pro. I am the best on our team and reason why we've won so many games. I'm really not lying, I was sick twice for two games and we lost. Everyone knows I'm the good luck charm for this team. Everyone on the team is pretty friends with each other, which is nice. My two best friends are on this team, Tyler Micks and Eric Swanson. Others who are on this team are Mason Jones, Nick Hendricks, Carter Montoya, Joey Bernet, Edgar Kyle and Jack Nova. Our coach, Mr. Showing, walked up to us. He's one of the best coaches ever, friends with us in general. He is awesome, nothing wrong with him, except all the girls have a crush on him. He had a slight smile on his face. This can't be good.

"Gentleman, we have someone late to try outs, but still a good candidate."

"I don't know about this coach, we all just became friends, do we really want to let in a new kid?" Nick questioned.

Everyone was looking at me, I'm pretty much the assistant coach, "What?"

"You're our leader, what should we do?" Jack asked.

"I guess, we'll give him a try, if coach thinks he's good, then he must me."

"He, is a loose term."

"What does that mean?" I questioned.

Then, it was like a movie, from the shadows that seemed to be from nowhere, a girl with icy blue hair walked up to us.

"Wait, a girl?" Mason looked confused.

Mr. Showing nodded, "She's really good."

"I'm right here, I have a name, it's Clara."

"She'll never be ready for homecoming." I added. It's not that I'm sexist and think I girl can't play soccer, it's just that I don't want a new player. Call me whatever you want, I don't want my teammates to be distracted by a girl.

"Okay, again, I'm right here." She added.

"Sorry, Clara, we'll see how you are, no promises."

She smirked and began the try out routine. I mean she's great, but I just don't think it would be the right move for this team. I looked at Mr. Showing, who really did enjoy her, then I looked at my teammates who were drooling over her. That's what I was afraid of.

"A cute girl, who can play soccer, sign me up!" Mason said.

"No, she's not on the team." I replied.

They all looked at me in shock, "Why?" They said at once.

"Because I don't want you guys to mess up because you're distracted by a girl."

"I was just kidding." Mason added.

"No you weren't I've known you long enough to know that you'll go after any girl and I can't let that effect our chances at homecoming. I know I said I was the lucky charm, but I've been feeling like I suck and truth be told, if this girl shows me up, what will I have? I know I'm being selfish, I can't help it.

"Fine. You're the best after all." Mason shrugged.

Practice was done for the day and I had to head back to my dorm and do homework. I hate homework, why do I have to take these stupid classes, if I know I'll be a pro soccer player one day? I walked into my dorm and Tommy was just hanging out with his bass.

"Sup, you look gloomy." He pointed out.

"A girl wants to be on the soccer team and I got a lot of homework." I added.

"A girl? Is she hot?"

I rolled my eyes, "Seriously dude?"

He shrugged, "And just skip your homework, I'll do it all for $30."

"Wait, really? I'm going to the field to practice, thanks man!" I gave him the money and left.

I have about 2 hours of day light left to practice. As I was practicing, I noticed that Mr. Showing was walking up to me.

"Haven't you had enough practice?" He asked.

I shook my head, "I need to be perfect for homecoming."

"You're my star player, you'll be great." He patted my back and left.

When it got dark, I went back to my dorm and fell asleep. Tommy actually did a good job on my homework and for a cheap price. I went to all my classes and couldn't wait to go to practice. I hurried out to the field and was the first one there. I saw the girl who tried out. I walked up to her, feeling bad.

"Hey, sorry about you not getting on the team."

"It's okay, I get it. Their guys and you don't want them to be distracted."

"Tell you what, you can be on the team after homecoming." I added.

She smiled, "Sounds like a plan. Thanks, Owen."

I smiled back and saw the rest of the team show up. I went back out the field and we started practice. We decided to play a short game. Mason and I were team captains. I picked my team and he picked his. The game started. So far, my team was winning and Mason really doesn't like losing, but I never lose. So, I guess sucks to be him. Mason and I were side to side, he was trying to steal the ball from me, but I was just too good. Then suddenly, he hit his side against mine and tripped me. I saw him do it. I fell to the grown, holding my knee, screaming in pain. I heard everyone rush over to me, everything looked fuzzy, eventually I blacked out.
