Chapter Thirteen

Chapter's song: easy love by Sigala

A slow smile played in my face when I reached my house. I was so glad to be home. The door screeched as I tugged it open. "Hi everyone!" I screamed to anyone home while I took off my shoes. The couch in front of the TV had my name all over it. Thankfully, it was empty so I raised my feet and cuddled with my favorite pillow at the same time I exhaled happily.

"What took you so long?" Seth appeared on the door holding a coke in his hand. Without a shirt.

I scrunched up my nose as I closed my eyes. "God, Seth! Put on a shirt, my eyes hurt by looking at you!"

He snorted. "You're insane. I'm a mighty sight." I huffed and crossed my arms while he burst out laughing. "Where were you? We were worried."

I opened one eye. "You were worried? Juno isn't even home right now." Saturday is the day she delivers the weeks' orders to the restaurants. "And honestly, she never worries about me because she doesn't have to." I stressed out the last part because she did worry about him.

"Whatever," he slumped on the floor and grabbed the TV remote. "I'm a good boy no matter what you all think of me." I snorted at that. It came out muffled since I was laying on the pillow. I heard him switch channels before he settled on a basketball game. "So, where were you?"

"A friend's."

"The same friend who gave you his t-shirt?"

My eyes opened and I glanced at Bryan's gray t-shirt. "What?"

"You're wearing a boy's t-shirt." He pretended to sound nonchalant, but I knew how overprotective he was. "Where did you say you crashed last night?"

I smiled. "I didn't."

Seth's head snapped to me. "Jessie..."

"What Seth? I'm twenty-four. I don't need to tell you what I do or where I go."

He pressed his lips together in a tight line. "I'm your brother. I do worry about you."

Ugh. The guilt of making him feel bad made my stomach feel tight. "Bryan let me stay at his house."

Seth was starting to drink on his coke and coughed when he heard me. "Bryan? The old man that brought you home the other night! Your boss?"

That cracked me up. He got up while I closed my eyes again. "Old man?" I asked amused.

"Yes. Very old. For you!" He tugged the pillow from under me. "What happened to the he's not interested in me thing!"

"Seth!" I glared at him while I sat upright. "He's not. I asked him to stay at school and he told me that I couldn't but he offered his house instead."

He crossed his arms. "Oh, I'm sure he's really nice and shit with everyone, right?"

"He's nice. Most of the time."

My brother's gaze narrowed as he muttered, "I bet."

The pillow was on the floor. I picked it up as I rolled my eyes "Seth, we'd been over this already. He's not old and he's definitely not interested in me." I sat quietly. Sighing I stared at my lap.

"Why are you sighing? Do you like him?"

My shoulders sagged. "You know what? I'm going upstairs to my room." I stood up, placed the pillow back on the sofa and patted my jeans. "I'm going out later."

Seth started to rub his temple. "With Bryan?"

Grinning at my brother, I ruffled his hair. "No. A classmate."

His eyes widened. "Who is he? An ex-drug dealer?"

I slapped him on the head. "Don't be so judgmental, dude."

He snorted. "Well, it's just that either you date your boss or you date an ex-convict. Both options suck."

I burst out laughing. "It's not a date. We're just hanging out. So chill out, okay?"

Seth crossed his arms and glared at the TV. Shaking my head, I let him be. I do needed that nap. My right foot was at the bottom of the stairs when I heard him grumble loudly, "I want to meet the guy!"

Ignoring him, I climbed through the stairs. I took a quick shower, changed my clothes and took a nap for the rest of the afternoon. At some point, Juno had come by and kissed me on the forehead.

Sleepily, I walked out of my room when the night had started to set in. I stopped by the bathroom to rearrange my hair, brush my teeth and put on some blush and mascara. When I looked presentable, I stepped downstairs.

"Seth told me that you're going out?" Juno's said from the TV couch.

"Yeah." I sat next to her. She was watching a foreign movie.

"Is that friend the same you slept with?" She asked distractedly as the woman in the movie started to scream around. It appeared to be a classic Japanese horror movie.

My eyes cut to her. "I didn't sleep with anyone, Juno!"

"So, where did you spend the night yesterday?"

"Bryan let me crash at his house. But that's it."

Seth groaned on the background. I was pretty sure he was listening intently to our conversation. "And we definitely didn't sleep together," I stressed out for his sake.

"Really?" she turned to me with a knowing smile on her face. "Because you were cuddling to his t-shirt back in your room."

Blushing like crazy, I shook my head. "He smells good." I rubbed a hand on my forehead, grimacing.

Seth dropped something in the kitchen while muttering to himself. Juno glanced at the kitchen's door before turning to me. "Seth cares about you," she said as a sort of explanation for my brother's jealous outburst.

Don't I know. "My friend Andrew, the one I'm going out with tonight," I raised the tone of my voice to annoy Seth, "has a lip ring and probably a few tattoos. I think he was in a gang."

"What!" Seth stumped out of the kitchen at the same time Juno smiled excitedly saying, "how cool!"

I burst out laughing at them. As if on cue, the doorbell rang. Before I even had a chance to stand up, my brother was opening the front door.

"You must be Andrew," he grumbled aloud. I rolled my eyes and kissed Juno on the cheek.

"Wait, can I meet him?" Juno's eyes shone excited.

I blinked at her. "Yeah, of course." Oh God.

She hopped out of the couch and pretty much shoved Seth away from the door. "I'm Juno, nice to meet you Andrew. Jessica speaks quite highly of you."

Andy's eyes locked with mine for a moment. "Really?" he seemed taken aback. I shook my head and gestured him to play along. A smirk played on his face. "It's really nice to meet you."

I pushed Seth away and grabbed my grandma's arm. "We should get going. See you later, okay?"

"Don't be late!" Seth exclaimed as Juno waved animatedly.

Andrew's gaze was amused. "You have an interesting family."

"Tell me about it."

He chuckled. "Come on, one of my friends is playing at this awful joint." My brows furrowed at his words. "It's going to be so much fun!" I frowned. An awful joint?

:) I'm really enjoying myself writing this story.

Although I have to admit that I was a bit sad to see that once again, I hadn't won a Watty. Ugh. I guess I'll keep trying no matter what...

Anyway...I expect more votes and comments!! *narrows eyes* ;)

Have a great night/day!
