Chapter 1

So this is a story that is more of a fun little story that I have written and am very much in love with. I'm dedicating this story to my dear friends Scion_Of_Legends and Zinnia29 you two are the best!

I woke up freezing again.  We had hardly any blankets and I just had to deal with the frigid cold.  I grabbed my warm jacket and zipped it up.  I grabbed a gun off from my makeshift table along with a couple rounds and put the gun into my holster.  It was a .22, nothing too big but it still had plenty of power.

I unzipped the tent and made my way silently through and out of the camp before the sun had even begun to shine.  One of the things I can do well was go to and fro without people noticing.  It also helped that it was four in the morning.

Normally the dense and dark forest would be crawling with swarms of soldiers searching desperately trying to find my camp.  But it was four in the morning.  Chances where that they were all warm in their fancy homes in the castle.

The castle, my former home.  I knew the castle well and why shouldn't I?  Still, any day I prefered the cold and gloom of the forest to the memories that the castle held.

My left foot stepped in a creek and it took a few moments for the message to get back to my foot to take it out of the stream.  I bit back a curse, I really needed this but being freezing cold and stepping in a chilling creek did not help.  The worst thing was that I had yet to be through the hardest part of my journey tonight.

My one stroke of luck that night was that the the water I had to wade through was only up to my waist tonight.  It was miserable and bitterly cold but I had to do this.  I had to meet up with my informant and find out what was going on in the castle.  The informal we had in the castle typically gave us vital information, without which we would likely not be able to launch as successful of operations as we did.

I was able to easily slip through the village which was falling apart it was where I had grown up as a child.  I couldn't help shuddering as I went.  This place had memories that I prefered not to dwell on.  I slithered past the guard's house where I had spent many troubled teen years.  Finally I stopped for a moment and glanced up at the castle, it was where I had spent many a fun day playing with friends but also where some of the worst memories laid.

The amount of secret passages in the castle had never ceased to amaze me and the fact that only I knew about all of them was just another bonus.  I crept past armoured guards playing poker talking in dull, dreary tones.  All that I was was a shadow, an image in the night, there one moment and gone the next.

The towers were daunting, unwelcoming and glared down at me but that had never stopped me and it never would.

Quickly and quietly I made my way up the winding staircase, and my feet hardly touched the ground I was in so much of a rush.  The night smelled of rock, dirt, trees and a hint of sogginess.  That last bit was most certainly me, but would not be seen as out of the ordinary seeing as the whole countryside had just gotten over a terrible storm that even managed to soak my camp.

Past the sleepy and slightly intoxicated guards I glided without hardly touching the ground.

The door creaked open ever so slightly and as I closed it cautiously I finally heaved a sigh of relief once in there.

So, what do you think so far?
