You face the oncoming horde with dread, certain of your dire fate. You just hope that Dean is doing better than Sam and you at the moment. You got split up somehow and now you and Sam are cornered in a rundown building.
Thrusting your demon blade into the nearest threat, you look to see how Sam is doing. He fights viciously against three demons, but one gains the upper hand and smashes a blunt object over his head.
You watch in horror as he slumps against the wall. Desperately, you attack the closest enemy, hoping that somehow you'll make it out alive.
Of course, being an angel, you should have been able to handle this situation easily. Now, with your grace gone - stolen by Metatron - you're just a human. A very useless human it seems. And now you're most likely going to die.
You close your eyes and prepare for the inevitable.
Suddenly, a flash of brilliant light erupts inside the building. You turn to see Sam with glowing eyes and light surrounding him, casting a shadow of broken wings behind him.
Gasping, you lose all thought of the fight as you stare at him. He seems different and oddly familiar.
"Close your eyes!" He shouts.
You do as told, and shield your eyes from the blinding light. The enemies scream before all goes silent. Shuddering, you don't dare to open your eyes, still protecting them with your sore hands. You flinch as warm hands clasp your wrists gently.
"You can open them now, Y/n."
Tentatively, you open your eyes and look up to see Sam. Only, it's not Sam. You can now tell the difference easily.
"Gadreel?" You ask quietly, almost afraid of the answer.
He addresses you with his familiar air of calm, "Yes, Y/n."
"How-?"
"I fell, just as you did." He cuts you off calmly.
"Why are you possessing Sam?"
"He was injured and Dean prayed for help. I am healing Sam." He explains.
You exhale slowly, still shocked at seeing Gadreel after all this time. How long had it been? Many, many years. Ever since he was locked away for the incident in the Garden, you had not been able to see him.
"It's been so long," you say before wrapping your arms around him, "I missed you so much..."
He stiffens and then relaxes as he pulls you closer to him, "I missed you as well."
"I am sorry I never visited you."
"It's alright, I understand," he replies. "I am sorry, Y/n, but I must leave now. Sam is waking up."
"Alright," you say sadly, "Thank you, for saving my life."
"Of course, Y/n." He replies before his eyes flash blue and Sam returns.
Throughout the rest of the day, you can't stop thinking of Gadreel, the one angel you thought you'd never see again.
