Chapter Sixty - Close

Two candidates were down in the election and now there was only Sasha and Clark. The running theory was that Sasha might be behind it . In other news Chloe remained bias as i think she should and was back Paul for the election. Even though I wanted Clark to win, I get why she was doing that though the boys didn't. Clark went to get some help with his speech from Lana when i got a call to come over with my kit.

"So a swarm of bees attacked you?" I question "Here take this, antihistamine, the only drug i can actually give you." she took it as i cleaned up the couple of stings she got.

"Yeah, thanks for doing this." Lana smiled

"Oh I seem to be the none doctor certified person to go too these days. I'll be they'll just love me when I finally get to the official training part." I gave her a plaster "Keep taking the tablets and any sign of anaphylactic shock like another swarm dong more damage. it's time for the hospital."

"Thanks."

"I'll see you back home." i told Clark and headed away just as Nell was arriving home. When I got back Clark told me that he was going to see where Sasha was working out of but that he wasn't going to ask Chloe "Wow, talk about bruised ego."

"Not you too, your my sister and you're the one of the two who wanted me to do this campaign." he groaned as the two of us sat in his room

"So? I believe you'll be a good candidate. I also want you to win but I wouldn't get mad at Chloe for doing her job or think she should do you any favours. It works in your favour anyhow."

"How does that make sense?" he retorted

"If Chloe endorsed you, people would have called her out for being a tainted view. She's one of your best friends and naturally that side of her is totally with you. but the journalist in her is fact based, Paul has the technicalities, the facts and the qualifications. Is he a dud with limited social skills and reach, sure, but apart from that on paper he's good. If she backed you in the paper that would do you more harm than good because that can be seen as manipulative and if you can do that to a friend?.." I trail off and he sighs

"Okay."

"She does a lot for us by not doing anything half the time. Like not questioning us about us having weird tendencies, dropping things when we ask her too even though it must go against her curious nature. Not giving us a hard time when she knows she should or just generally learning to read us. Give her the credit she deserves."

"When did you become so wise?" he wondered and that made me smile

"I always have been, you just fail to notice it majority of the time." I smirk "If your ego still bruised and until you grow a pair to apologise, I'll come with you."

"No." he denied "Ever since you became pregnant your more susceptible to getting hurt. If I'm walking into what I think I am, then you need to be as far away as possible." I went to protest but he gave me a look that shut me down before I could. For once he was right. "Now have you booked your scan yet?"

"Mom did it the other day, she and Whitney are going to come. Are you sure you don't want my help?" I wonder and he takes a hold of my hand

"Positive."

Clark left to go to Sasha's and I called Chloe telling her what was going on. I was out tending to the horses when I heard a large amount of buzzing. Turning around my jaw slackened at the sigh of a swarm heading towards me.

"Crap." I look all around for a place to hide and I saw the storm cellar. I sped over and pulled at the door. I felt a hand behind me as we ran down the stairs and the door closed behind us. It was Clark..

"Mia, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's Sasha isn't it? She's behind that swarm." It went quiet "Where did they go?" I breathe and we looked up my x-ray vision caught them flying away.

"They're going" Clark whispered

"She called the off?" I inquire well it was more of a hope really

"Maybe, let's get you back to the house." he says and I shake my head

"I'm fine, you go deal with Sasha." he looked apprehensive "Go." I insisted and he sped off. I sighed rubbing my head when the weirdest thing happened. I heard rumbling from behind me. Not a hive of bee but a different kind. I turned slowly towards our hidden ship and watched it pulsated with a dim glow. I slowly walked over, why you may ask well it was my ship. I hardly thought it would want to do any damage to one of it passengers and it's had a couple of chances if it did.

I watched as it opened up and symbols revealed themselves. There was a whisper to a comforting one as I stopped right in front of it.

"Daughter of mine....daughter of mine. Legacy...legacy....legacy...protect...protect." it whispered and a small hatch opened. I leant down and put my hand in. there was something daily inside. I pulled it out and it was revealed to be a necklace. with a purple gem. The light got bright and that was the last thing I remember

I woke up in my room and it was dark outside. Confused I got out of bed and headed downstairs. Mom and Dad looked to me.

"You're awake?" Mom smiled

"Yeah, how did i get here?" I questioned not getting how i made the trip

"What's the last thing you remember?" Clark wondered concerned and I thought about it while biting my lip

"You went to Sasha after the bee's went quiet." I sighed and they all glanced at each other "What?"

"Mia, I found you passed out on top of the ship. And you had that around your neck." he got up and came over to me lift up a necklace I had never see before "I've tried taking it off. It won't budge."

"Protection." i stated and the glanced at my brother confused "I don't know why I said that. That's weird."

"What do you mean protection?" Dad wondered and I shrugged

"Cloaking appear human." I cover my mouth and Clark looks back to his parents "I...I wasn't thinking that."

"What if the ship know's your pregnant" Clark theorised "It would make sense, it's possible that where we come from has advance technology. Maybe it can sense us and our changes, it chose to do nothing because we're not in any immediate danger and if we are we have abilities to protect ourselves."

"So it sensed that i was pregnant and what gave me a necklace? How could that make sense?" I retorted

"Maybe it works like the meteor rocks only instead of harm it protects the wearer. i don't know how but it could be possible. A gift to protect on a different world. Maybe it reacted now because your pregnant."

"One can only hope." Mom voices

-----------

Felise and Sasha had dropped out so it was between Clark and Paul. Paul won and even though he couldn't be there, there was a celebratory party at the Talon. Clark attuned in grace even though it sucked for him that he didn't win. I sat with Whitney as he talked with his friends and then I went to get a drink.

"I heard congratulations are in order." Lana commented passing my herbal tea

"Pardon?" I ask and Lana looked down

"Clark let it slip, that your pregnant." I scowl, it wasn't completely public yet, those who were either inner circle or had to know, knew.

"For someone who's gotten extra protective since I found out, he sure does have a big mouth." I huff

"It makes sense, Whitney with a little extra pep in his step, him constantly watch over you as if something might happen. Anyone would think he was a little obsessive, when he's just more protective."

"Thank you...for not judging. I have a feeling when it's public news not everyone will be so understanding. I'm mentally preparing for the insults to come. Slut, whore, lose morals. Or the accusation that I trapped the quarterback" I glance down

"Well ignore them. You did something intimate with someone you trusted. I know that its a gigantic step from you. You've come a long way from the guarded girl seeking solace in the library."

"Well I'm having a conversation with you and not being bitchy so I would have to agree with you." we laughed "Just keep it to yourself. I'm holding out as long as possible."

"Of course."
