Chapter One.
" ANNABELLE MIRANDA MARIE!" Annabelle's mother yelled from downstairs which jolted Annabelle awake.
" Yeah?!" Annabelle yelled in a sleep deprived voice.
Annabelle had been up till three am, studying for a calculus test and was exhausted. But this was nothing new.
Annabelle was a straight A student and always worked her hardest to achieve her goals.
" GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE! YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" Annabelle's mother yelled in return which made Annabelle sigh quietly and slowly sit up in her bed.
Annabelle climbed out of bed with a long stretch and began to search through her clothes, trying to find something suitable to wear to school.
But then again, at her school wearing a bra and booty shorts would be acceptable.
But Annabelle wasn't like that, she was what most kids would call Miss Perfect.
Class president, straight A student, and teachers pet...Annabelle wasn't one that you'd call if you needed to hide a body but she'd be the one you'd go to when you needed notes from a class or even homework...seeing as Annabelle always took extra homework sheets just in case she lost the first ones.
But Annabelle was also popular, which was unusual but true.
Part of the reason was because she was pretty.
With her sleek and shiny brunette hair, her dark forest green eyes, her naturally curvy figure. She was far from ugly.
Another reason was probably because she was a cheerleader surprisingly.
But honestly the top reason that she was popular, was because she was smart.
Which you've probably figured out by now but...people took advantage of her brains.
They would steal the answers to a test that had taken her hours of hard work to do.
It was honestly very sad.
" I SAID HURRY YOUR ASS UP!" Annabelle's mother practically screamed making Annabelle flinch as she slipped on her blue skinny jeans.
" Sorry, mom! I'm coming!" Annabelle called back as she quickly slipped on a long cream sweater and brushed out her long brunette hair.
After fixing her hair into a braid, she quickly trotted downstairs where her little brother, Tommy was putting his school books into his backpack.
" Hey squirt." Annabelle said as she ruffled Tommy's untamed curly brown hair.
" Hey Anna....don't mess up my hair, it took me five seconds to do it!" Tommy exclaimed as he smoothed back his hair and burst into a fit of giggles.
Annabelle rolled her eyes playfully and ruffled Tommy's hair again before walking into the kitchen where her mother was cooking scrambled eggs.
" You're cooking?!" Annabelle asked in a surprised tone.
" Well somebody has to do the work around here, since you kids won't lift a damn finger to help me." Annabelle's mom snapped which made Annabelle flinch yet again.
" Sorry, mom." Annabelle murmured.
" Anna, get me another cup of coffee." Annabelle's dad said from where he sat reading the newspaper at the dining table.
" Of course." Annabelle said quickly grabbing the coffee pot and walking over to where her father was. She then filled up his mug and went to return the pot to it's resting place.
Tommy walked into the room and grabbed a slice of burnt bacon before sitting next to Annabelle's three year old sister Beca.
Annabelle was the oldest of the kids at seventeen years of age while Tommy was thirteen, they also had a brother named Charlie who was ten and then Beca was three.
Annabelle's mom liked kids up until they were seven...then she hated them.
Annabelle still to this day didn't know why.
She assumed it was because they were cute and sweet until they were older and they began to realize that Annabelle's mom was a major B word.
In any case, Annabelle's mom hated Annabelle...but she tolerated the other two. Beca on the other hand was her precious angel...but that didn't make the other kids bitter towards the little girl.
" You're driving Tommy and Charlie to school today." Annabelle's father said, not looking up from his newspaper. It wasn't a request that Annabelle could deny...even if she didn't want to drive the two boys to school, she had to....or else......
" Of course, father." Annabelle agreed as she took a slice of toast off of the table and began to butter it.
" And after school you will take Tommy to his soccer game and Charlie is staying with your grandma tonight." Annabelle's father said, he seemed like he was much kinder than her mother, and he was.....but only to the other three children. Annabelle was the only reason that he wasn't a "famous football player"....at least that's what he told her. In all reality he probably wouldn't of even made it out of high school with his football scholarship...he was terrible at football.
" Yes father." Annabelle said as she picked up her white and purple striped backpack.
" In fact, after soccer, have Tommy spend the night with grandma as well. He deserves it." Annabelle's father lowered the paper to smile at Tommy.
Annabelle's father might have been attractive in high school with his deep forest green eyes and sandy blonde hair...but now, his once full and wavy hair now was thin and barley reached the front of his scalp.
Annabelle's mother was attractive back in her day as well.
In the photos Annabelle had found of her mother in high school, her mother was most likely the most attractive girl there with her silky brunette hair that was cut short and barely brushed against her shoulders, and her ocean blue eyes that glittered as she smiled...now her mother's eyes were dull and reflected her personality.
Her hair which had been so well kept when she was younger was now dull and lifeless and hung just below her shoulder blades.
" Ready, Charlie?!" Annabelle called as she and Tommy began to walk out of the door.
" Yeah, coming!" Charlie yelled as he ran down the stairs, his sandy blonde hair was wild as if he hadn't brushed it yet.
" Luckily I have a hair brush in my car so that the porcupine on your head will look more like hair." Annabelle laughed as she walked out of the car with her little brothers following.
" Haha very funny, I didn't have the time that you do to make my hair as flawless as yours is." Charlie rolled his eyes as he climbed into the back seat of Annabelle's old blue slugbug.
" That was more of a compliment rather than a burn." Annabelle said with a small chuckle.
" It's too early for me to come up with a solid burn at the moment." Charlie yawned as he took the hair brush from his sister.
" You never come up with solid burns...in fact all of your "solid burns" go up in flames." Tommy said while making air quotations as he said Solid Burn.
" Oooooh! A burn AND a pun! That's my boy!" Annabelle said as she high fived Tommy and started up her car.
" Ouch." Was all Charlie said before handing the hair brush back.
" Oh look Tommy, Charlie got rid of his porcupine!" Annabelle gasped, glancing at Charlie in the rearview mirror.
" Yeah yeah, just let me out here. I'll walk the rest of the way with Naomi." Charlie rolled his eyes.
" You mean your girlfriend?" Annabelle teased but pulled over nevertheless, a young girl with black hair and brown eyes approached the car with a smile.
" She's not my girlfriend..." Charlie mumbled before Annabelle opened the door to let Charlie out.
Annabelle got out of the car and moved the seat forward, allowing Charlie to climb out of car.
" Thanks for the ride. See you after school." Charlie called and began walking with Naomi towards the school which was already apparent in the distance.
" Hey I can walk too, you go on ahead. I'll watch them and make sure they don't do anything funky." Tommy said as he climbed out of the car.
" He shouldn't even know anything funky....and neither should you." Annabelle yelled after Tommy who was already jogging to catch up with his brother.
Annabelle shook her head and began driving again while turning up the radio which was playing the Imagine Dragons song, This Is Gonna Be The Best Day Of My Life.
As Annabelle drove she began to sing along with the radio and drum her fingers against the steering wheel.
It wasn't long before a red head around her age appeared on the sidewalk ahead of her.
Annabelle drove alongside the girl and rolled down the window.
" Hey little girl, I've got some candy in my van if you want some." Annabelle said in a deep voice.
" How could I pass up an offer like that oh sketchy guy that's probably going to kidnap me?" The red head gasped and climbed into Annabelle's bug.
Both girls burst out laughing, eventually calming down enough for Annabelle to begin driving again.
" This is why I love you, Sandy." Annabelle smiled as she drove.
" Omg Annie, Lola is dating Kyle now!" Sandy said suddenly.
" Wait, what?! Hot quarterback Kyle? No way!" Annabelle exclaimed and pulled into the schools parking lot.
" Yes way. Megan found them making out in a janitors closet yesterday after you left. And I heard that they were seen going in the bedroom together at a party..." Sandy whispered as if someone was going to overhear their conversation...even though they were in a car.
" Seriously?" Annabelle cocked an eyebrow.
" Yeah....she's also been hanging out in the bathrooms a lot....someone said she's been throwing up a lot...." Sandy said seriously.
" You don't think...she's pregnant do you?" Annabelle asked in a disgusted voice.
" She most likely is." Sandy said before getting out of Annabelle's car.
" That's terrible." Annabelle sighed softly while following Sandy into the school where two of their other friends were already waiting.
" I know right....I hope she's not. A kid could ruin her entire life...not to mention ruin her reputation." Sandy said before going silent as they walked over to a very preppy looking blonde and a beautiful asian girl.
" Heeeey Anna Banana! You goin to the party tonight?" The blonde girl smiled, her hot pink lipstick was lathered on in such a large amount that it made her smile look like a grimace.
" Uh...I don't know Meagan....." Annabelle said quietly.
" Oh come ON! Live a little! You never go to these things! Don't be a stiff." Meagan rolled her eyes making Annabelle almost narrow her eyes
" Fine, I'll think about it." Annabelle practically snapped.
" Good, I mean...what's the worst that could happen?" Meagan shrugged.
