I sat at a table in the food court, I was at the mall with my sisters and friends. I was writing in my notebook. I called it my storybook, it was full with a bunch of stories I had written over the years. I always wanted to be a romance writer. To write romance like in the books I read when I was younger. The romance I dreamed for and wanted. However life said I was destined to be a model."What are you writing about?" I looked up to see Austin sitting across from me. When did he even sit down? I looked down at my book and continued to write "Nothing."

Austin stood up and sat next me which made me jump, "Now I am even more interested." He said with a smile. I gave him a small glare however my heart was doing somersaults, "Austin-" He cut me off "Please Kar." He said and his beautiful blue eyes were aimed at me. I sighed defeated, I handed him the notebook "Fine." He smiled and looked down at the paper. I watched him as he read through the small bit of story I had written. He looked up at me, he looked at me astonished maybe?

Austin smiled at me, "Karlee, this is-" I sighed and my head fell in my hands "I know it is horri-" "Amazing. Karlee, this is amazing." He said and I looked up at him with wide eyes. "Really?" He nodded "Yeah! This is beautiful, K. Even though there isn't a lot, I am still hooked." He said and I smiled at him. My cheeks tinted pink as he complimented my work. Austin looked at me "Oh Selena wanted me to ask you to come over tonight to our place. We are all going to be hanging out tonight." I nodded "Okay, I will just ride with Mariana and Paris there." He nodded and his eyes locked mine. He stared at me and smirked. I bit my lip, "What?" Austin leaned in forward close to my face, for a moment I forgot how to breathe.

His sky blue eyes locked with my dark brown ones, he tilted his head and got in my ear. "You look beautiful today." He said and stood up, leaving me a blushing mess. I looked up and saw him slowly walking away from the table with a chuckle. I groaned and threw a french fry at him "You tease!" which only made him laugh more. "Says the one who is the shade of a rose." He said before walking away.

After the mall, I went to my apartment changed into some acid washed jeans with a vintage Queen shirt. I pulled my hair back into a messy bun and put on some lip smacker chapstick. Mariana walked into my room, she looked at me "Hey, is there something going on between you and Austin?" She asked, she raised her perfectly arched eyebrow and crossed her arms. I looked at her amused, a chuckle left my lips. She looked at me confused "What's funny?" The chuckle turned into a laugh. "Mari, Austin is married to my best friend. Why would you even think I would do that?" I asked with an annoyed look on my face.

Mariana raised her hands in defense and shook her head"I was just wondering. It's time to go." She said and walked out of my room. I sighed, I grabbed my phone and wallet, I walked out of the house and got in Paris's car. Her baby. It was a black 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. My dad got Paris it for her 16th birthday. My sister was in love with her car. Mariana sat in the passenger's seat, "Babies in back." She said and I glared at her. They both chuckled and teased me. I sighed, this is going to be a long five minute drive.

We got there actually kinda quickly. We got there and Walker took Mariana and Paris quickly to show them something. I sighed, I walked into the living room and saw Selena, her sister Sarah and Austin playing video games. Selena looked up at me for a moment before looking back at the screen "Hey Kar, love your- BOOM EAT DUST LOSERS!" She yelled and the boys groaned. Sarah kissed her sister's cheek, "This game is rigged." Austin said and Sarah smirked "No you just suck." I giggled at her confidence.

I sat on the couch, watching as the girls were making something in the kitchen. I sighed softly as I watched them laugh and joke around, why am I not sociable like my sisters? I suddenly had a wild mane of hair in my lap. My frown turned into a smile when I looked down at Austin, who was already looking at me. He poked my nose and gave me a small smile, "You okay Sunflower?" He asked. I smiled at him and shook my head, "I am fine Austin, just have a lot of stuff going on in my head." I wasn't lying to him. I just wasn't telling the whole truth.

He raised an eyebrow and sat up, he grabbed my hands. He looked straight into my eyes, it felt like he was looking in my soul. This stare was intense, it was different. "We are friends Kay, I am here if you need someone to talk to," He paused and I smiled softly at the blonde boy. "You can tell me anything Karlee, I hope you know that. I will always be here for you." He said, his thumb ran across the back of my hand. Our eyes never left each other's, I felt my heart quicken. I quickly pulled my hands away and looked down, why is he doing that?

His sweet smile turned into a smirk, "You are blushing again sweetheart." He mumbled, his eyes lit up in a mischievous way. I smirked back at him, "Yeah I know, I was thinking about spiderman." I said which made him laugh.

My thoughts were running crazy in my head. What is happening?

I got a text from one of my friends, it said that Asher was trying for parole. I dropped my phone, I felt like I couldn't breathe.

I quickly grab my purse. Austin looked at me "Kar, hey what's wrong?" He asked immediately, noticing my face.

"I am gonna head home. I forgot that I hav-'' I choked up and walked outside.

Austin came outside with his jacket and keys. "Come on. I talked to Selena. I will drive you home." I hesitated, I wanted to be alone. I didn't want to be around anyone but I wanted to be alone in the dark walking home in this bad neighborhood. I looked back, I saw Selena looking at me worried walking back inside. She stopped and looked at me with what felt like pity. She knew..

I turned away quickly and followed Austin to his car. I felt so terrified. I got in and he sat there. The keys were in the ignition but he didn't start the car. "Kar, what's wrong?" He asked, and he turned to me. He looked at me, I felt so vulnerable in front of him. I looked back at him, no words came out. He just knew. His expression turned from worry to one of sadness. Austin reached over to me and pulled me into a hug, I wrapped my arms around him and just broke into tears.

I clung to him like I was scared he would disappear. He gently stroked my hair and kissed the top of my head, "I am sorry sweetheart." He said, his voice was a whisper in my ear.
