Kavya's POV

'Come again in few months,' aunty said as we sat in the car.

'Yes. I will ask Kabir to bring me here. I am already missing you guys. Thank you for all the love you guys have given me,' I said.

'Call me when you will realize what I said was right,' Tanisha said with a wink.

'What is princess saying?' Kabir asked me.

'Nothing,' we both said in unison.

'Uncle, thank you for taking care of me,' I changed the subject.

'Come again,' he said and I gave him a small smile.

'We will leave. I will call you guys after reaching home,' Kabir said as we waved goodbye to everybody and Kabir started the car.

'Uncle and aunty gave me so many chocolates,' Raj said excitedly making Kabir smile.

'Aunty even packed dinner for us as it will be late till we reach home. They are so nice,' I said.

'Yes. We would have stayed here for the weekend but tomorrow is Raj's appointment with the doctor. Let's see how many days it will take for him to walk normally and resume his school,' he said.

'Yes. Then I don't have to tutor him anymore,' I said and realized that Kabir's grip tightened on the steering wheel.

'Now, you must be happy as in few days you don't have to come to tutor him anymore,' he said.

'It's nothing like that, Kabir. I don't have any problem. I love tutoring Raj. I just said it casually.' I explained.

'Thank you for everything you did for Raj and for me,' he said.

Why is it sounding like a goodbye?

'Are you trying to get rid of me? You won't get rid of me so easily. We will still meet even when I will stop tutoring Raj,' I joked.

'Of course. We are with each other for lifetime,' he said making me smile.

'By the way, what was princess saying earlier? Something about calling her when you realize that she is right?' he asked.

'Nothing. It's girl's talk.'

'Oh. So now you have became close to her, huh?' he asked.

'Yes. We have became close.'

'Good. Princess is a sweetheart. She has the capability to make anybody fall in love with her,' he said.

But, the one she wants does not want her. For him, she is just her best friend. I hope she finds someone who will love her the way she deserves.

'What are you thinking?' he asked.

'Nothing. Anyways, now as soon as we reach home, hotel owner will be too busy to even meet me or call me, right?' I teased him and he started laughing.

I love to see him happy.

'Yes. Next few weeks will be busy as I have already missed so much,' he said.

'Because of me,' I said.

'Don't think like that. I also felt refreshed after going there. If not for you, I don't know when I would have gone there and met everybody.'

'You should atleast visit them in every six months. They love you so much and treat you like a family,' I said and he nodded his head.

'You are right. I will try. By the way, do you want to have coffee?' he asked when he saw a coffee shop nearby.

'Okay. Let's go.'

'Finally we are home,' Raj said as he tried to get out of the car with kabir's help.

'You will come home, right?' Kabir asked.

'I mean, Ti has packed dinner for all of us,' he clarified.

'Yes, I will be coming home.'

'Cool. Then, tomorrow, after coming back from the hospital, I will drop you to your house. In that way, I will check your house too,' he said as he opened the door and we went inside.

'Yes.' Frankly, I am feeling odd about returning to my house. I hope the burglars will not come again. What if they have a knife and attacks me with it? Or, what if they come to my house and molest me?

'What are you thinking?' his voice bought me back to reality.

'Nothing,' I said as he gave a glass of water for me and Raj and sat beside us.

'Thank you,' I said and took a sip.

Suddenly, we heard a doorbell. 'It must be Suraj,' Kabir said and went to open the door.

Suraj?

He opened the door and Suraj was standing at the door with another man.

'Come in,' he said and they came inside and stood in front of me.

'Kavya, this is Neeraj, Suraj's cousin brother,' Kabir introduced him to me.

'Okay?' I stated but it came out as a question.

'He is an auto driver. And he will take you to school and drop you back home. And you can call him anytime, you want to go anywhere other than school. Even if you want to market to buy vegetables, you can call him and he will come. Right, Neeraj?' Kabir asked him.

'Yes, sir.'

What?

'You mean to say, he is my personal driver?' I wanted to clarify.

'Yes.'

What?

'From Monday, he will start his work,' Kabir said.

'And you don't have to worry about the fare. He will not take any extra money other than the market price. Right, Neeraj?' he asked.

'Yes, sir. If Madam wants to go anywhere, she can just call me and within half an hour, I will reach in front of her building. And, from Monday by 8.00 a.m. I will stand in front of your building to drop you at your school,' he said.

Suddenly, he folded his hands in front of me.

'Thank you madam, for giving me this job. Business was not going smoothly from covid as nowadays everyone is using ola or uber and I dont know how to use all that things. Now, my daughter does not have to strive for basic things as her dad will earn because of your grace,' he said and I didn't know what to say.

'Thank you sir and Madam for giving job to my brother,' Suraj said and I just gave them a small smile and looked at Kabir angrily.

He should have atleast discussed it with me. How can he decide on my behalf? Yes, we had this conversation but it was a long time back.

'I told Suraj to find an auto driver for you who will take the same fare which goes in the market and he suggested Neeraj's name but he had gone to village. Today only he came back and wanted to meet us so Suraj bought him here. Before I can tell you they were here,' Kabir explained. Maybe he realized that I was angry.

'What profit will you get by giving me rides at market fare?' I asked.

'A stable income, madam,' he replied.

'Please, don't call me madam. Call me Kavya,' I said but he didnt say anything further.

'Okay,' I said after giving it a thought. You can come from Monday,' I said and there was a big smile on both the brothers face.

'I will show him everything, madam,' Suraj said excitedly.

'Now, we will leave,' they said and were leaving.

'Wait,' Kabir called them and they turned around.

'If you try to do anything wrong with her, I will kill you,' he warned him.

'Don't worry about anything, sir. Trust me,' he said and Kabir nodded his head and they left.

Kabir turned around and looked at me.

'You should have told me once,' I said.

'I didn't get time to talk to you about it.'

'Good, bhai. Now, madam can travel comfortably,' Raj said.

'Yes. Now I can live tension free as your madam will be safe,' he said to Raj.

'I don't know what to say,' I said with a shrug.

'Just don't get angry for taking decision without consulting you,' Kabir said.

'That's the problem. I want to get angry but nobody has ever thought so much about me so I can't get angry.'

'The day I saw that guy trying to touch you inappropriately in the auto, my blood boiled. Now, I can be safe,' he said.

I don't know what to say.

'Thank you, Kabir.' I can only thank him for thinking so much about me.

'But, please, call him if you want to go anywhere, at any time. Don't think that you will disturb him by calling him. Think of it, as he is getting money which will make him and his family happy,' he said and I smiled sheepishly. He knows me so well.

'Okay, sir,' I said and he started laughing and I joined him.

'I will go and warm up the dinner for you,' I said and went in the kitchen.

'Kabir?' I called him while I was laying on his bed and he was laying on the floor.

'Hmm?'

'Burglars will not come again, right?' I asked and he got up.

'You are scared?' he asked.

'Yes. I am scared of going back to my house,' I told him the truth instead of creating a strong facade.

'What if they have a knife with them or what if they try to mole---

'Don't think all that. I want to tell you something. I didn't wanted to tell you as I thought you will get angry but now I think I should tell you.'

'What?' I asked and got up.

'I hired two security guards for you. At night, they will guard your building and don't worry, nobody will know about it. From Monday, they will start working,' he told me and I was too surprised to say anything.

How can somebody think so much about another person withot wanting anything in return?

I got down from the bed and went and sat in front of him.

'How can someone be so nice?' I asked and he just looked at me and smiled.

'What should I do to repay you?' I asked.

'Just be comfortable and happy.'

How can he be still single?

Every girl die for a guy like this. I am his friend and yet he is doing so much for me. I can't imagine how much love and care he will give to his girlfriend but why that thought is creating an weird feeling in my heart?

No, no, no... I should stop thinking about all this.

'Where are you lost?' Thank god Kabir's voice bought me back into the present.

'You will pay the security guards?' I asked and his facial expression changed.

He seemed upset.

'Don't get upset. I know that you love to spend money on the people who are close to you and with my payment I can't afford security guards and now, I can sleep comfortable knowing that I am protected so I can't even say no to it but, can I do something... anything to repay you back? Even if it's a small thing,' I asked and he suddenly laid on my lap.

'Stroke my hair,' he said as he laid comfortably and I was surprised for a moment but then started stroking his hair.

'Just do this whenever I ask you to,' he said and closed his eyes.

'You know, even if I give a suitcase of cash nobody will do this for me, and, then people say that 'we can buy everything with money,' he said mockingly.

'They can do it,' I joked.

'They can. But they will not have the love in their hands which you have. They will only do it as a duty. You are doing it lovingly,' he said.

'And their hands will not have the warmth and comfort that you have,' he continued while adjusting himself in my lap.

'You are right,' I said and continued stroking his hair.

'Kabir?' I called.

'Hmm?'

'Thank you so much.'

'Thanks to you too for stroking my hair and giving me permission to lay on your lap. I am so comfortable here. I don't feel like getting up,' he said making me smile.

'Then, don't get up,' I said and he didn't say anything back and closed his eyes.

After ten to fifteen minutes, I called him but he didnt answer.

Maybe he has fallen asleep. I am glad that I can be of some help to him.

Kabir's POV

I opened my eyes and first thing I noticed was kavya who was sleeping while leaning against the bed.

Oh my god.

I got up in a second and again looked at her.

Whole night I slept on her lap?

Shit!

I looked at the time to see that it was 8.00 a.m.

God! For me, she couldn't sleep.

'Kavya,' I called her and she stirred in her sleep.

I want her to sleep on the bed.

'Kavya,' I called her again.

'Hmm?' she mumbled in her sleep.

I am feeling so bad for waking her up but I can't even carry her to bed as I know that she will not like me carrying her to bed without her permission.

For me, she couldn't sleep comfortably. I am feeling so guilty right now.

'Wake up and sleep on the bed, baby,' I said.

What?

Baby?

Shit! Thank god she is not awake.

I cant forget the look on her face when I called her 'my good girl'. She will never contact me if she heard what I called her.

Kabir, control yourself.

But, these words came naturally to me when it comes to her.

She opened her eyes and looked at me.

'Yesterday, while stroking my hair, you fell asleep here only. Go and sleep on the bed for some time,' I said.

I don't even know for how many hours she stroked my hair and when she fell asleep.

'Hmm,' she mumbled and got up. She laid on the bed and I followed her and put duvet on her, pulled down all the curtains as sunlight was falling on her face and went downstairs.

Throughout, there was a big smile on my face. Yesterday, when she asked me, what she should do for me, I told her the first thing that came on my mind and her hands worked like a magic. I don't even know when I fell asleep.

I dont even know, at what time she felt asleep but by looking at her, I feel that she slept two to three hours back. And if my guess is true, she did it for whole night.

My god.

She is so precious for me that I just want to keep her in my house and never let her go.

But, that's impossible as friends don't behave like this.

Friends don't call the other friend 'baby.'

My mind mocked me.

That was a slip of tongue.

Before my mind starts saying something else, I went to wake Raj up.
