"That's my favourite book!" Liv exclaimed , hugging her copy of Creature of the Night.

"Open it ." Kasey smiled warmly, pecking Liv on the lips. They've been dating for 3 years, yet every kiss made Liv's heart flutter.

A memo was stuck to the page. You make my heart smile.

"Aww that's so sweet, is there one on every chapter?" Liv tried to flip through the pages,but Kasey quickly grabbed her hands.

"No! No spoilers!"

"Fine." Liv pouted , deep down, she was loving it. Liv was a slow reader. She likes to mull over every small detail in the book, reading lines over and over again, picturing every scene clearly in her mind. For the rest of the evening, she was curled up on the sofa, with Kasey's arm wrapped around her waist, gently stroking Liv's hair.

After a week, when everything seemed to be alright, Liv received a call .

"Olivia? This is Kasey's mother. Kasey died in a car crash, I'm so sorry." Sobbing can be heard from the other side of the phone.

"No," Liv felt hollow and numb,that must be a mistake, Kasey cannot be dead, Kasey isn't dead! Trying to keep her composure, she drove back home, tears pricking the corner of her eyes, the neighbours looked at her weirdly when she clumsily made her way to the door, fumbling for her keys while crying her heart out .

"No!" She screamed , her heart exploded and shattered into a million pieces.

Liv threw the copy of Creature of the Night on the sofa. It seemed to be smirking at her , mocking her. She glared at the book whenever she walked past it, how dare you be the last thing Kasey gave me, how dare you serve as a reminder for what I've lost. One day she can't stand the sight of it anymore. She gently picked it up and stored it in her drawers, where she won't have to see it every day as a reminder . She couldn't bear to see the last gift Kasey gave her.

A few months have passed . Liv decided to finish reading the book, to see what Kasey wanted to tell her but can't . Kasey's memos warmed her heart every time, but crushed it after the realization that she will never hear Kasey say those words to her again. She finally got to the end of the book, and there was one, final yellow note with 4 words.

"Will you marry me?"
