Diversity in my Abilities
I woke up at seven and this time I wasn't screaming, but I was shaking.
"I'm done I can't sleep anymore," I said hastily climbing out of bed, tears threatening to spill down my face. I ran across the room ducked into my closet, putting on some clean gym clothes. I ran to the elevator, and pushed the 10th floor button and I began to wrap my knuckles as the metal box moved, but I reached the gym before I was done wrapping and left my right hand tape free and my left hand only partially done. I grabbed the closest punching bag and hoisted it onto my shoulders, carrying it to the mats. Quickly, I pulled the chain up and clipped it to the hanging chain. By now the tears had begun to fall, and I slammed my fists into the punching bag, letting out a quiet sob and sliding to the ground.
Since it was seven in the morning I knew most people were asleep and maybe a few running, but I didn't expect to see Clint when I felt a hand on my knee. He knelt down next to my shaking figure.
"Are you alright Luna?" His eyes were full of concern. I nodded shakily.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine," I said, my voice cracking, not wanting to dump my troubles on Clint.
"No you're not," he said sitting me down on a nearby bench. I wanted to tell Clint so badly what was wrong, why I didn't sleep at night, my problems, my past, my fears, but I didn't know him at all, for all I knew I should kill him, but when I opened my mouth again instead of a persistent 'I'm fine,' I told him everything.
For years I had been living in the US with a fake American accent, but now that I was panicking, my Russian accent broke through. I even switched to Russian a few times accidentally, but Clint kept nodding his head.
After I finished I looked around the room making sure no one was in there apart from Clint and me before turning back to Clint. The archer seemed to be taking it very well, slowly digesting everything I had said, and after a few minutes, he put his hand on my back, rubbing up and down with his palm. I smiled and turned to face Clint.
"Please don't tell anyone," I said looking down at my thighs. He nodded with a serious face.
"Don't worry, I won't." I smiled at him again and stood up, walking back over to my knuckle tape.
"How did you know I was in here," I called across the room.
"I was in the rafters." I nodded, muttering quietly to myself.
"Rafters, huh? Interesting." I finished my tape and walked over to the punching bag I had put up, assuming my fighting stance, bouncing on the balls of my feet, readying myself to break the punching bag.
I went to the kitchen at 8:00 to have breakfast and when I arrived on the floor I saw Natasha, Clint, Tony, and Steve having bacon and French toast that Tony had made. I walked across the hardwood floors to the counter and grabbed myself a plate before heaping a couple of French toast pieces and bacon onto the white porcelain. I walked across the room silently and sat down at the large table, cutting my syrupy bread into pieces. No one seemed to notice me as I ate, so I ate in silence listening to the conversations that everyone else was having. After a while it got quite but then Stark spoke.
"So what do you guys think of red 2?" I was mildly offended by his tone and said,
"I'm sitting right here asshole." Tony jumped slightly when I spoke and turned around.
"Jesus Luna, you scared me," he exclaimed. I rolled my eyes and put my empty plate in the sink before getting back in the elevator and hitting the 7th floor button remembering that I needed to shower, and the elevator began to sink.
When the doors slid open again I walked into my room and went to the closet, grabbing a clean pair of clothing and walking to the bathroom. I set my folded clothes on the counter and turned on the shower before stripping. Quickly, I unwrapped my hands and stepped into the shower allowing the warm water to cascade over me.
I walked out of my bedroom and got in the elevator, pushing the 10th floor button. The elevator began to rise and I again wrapped my knuckles with the white tape I always used for boxing. The doors opened and I saw a few people in the gym. Steve was boxing, Clint was at the shooting range, and Natasha was sparring with Tony. I walked over to the boxing area and went over to the bags. I slung one over my shoulders and carried it over to one of the many metal chains, hoisting it up into the air and clipping it to the chain that hung from the ceiling. I stood back and planted my feet firmly, raising my fists to my face and beginning my punching sequence.
After an hour I still hadn't stopped punching, and most everyone had stopped to watched me. Even Thor came down, but I hardly noticed them. I was very caught up in my past at the time and didn't care that they were betting on how long I could punch for.
I bet everyone's bets after punching for another hour before Fury walked into the room.
"What's going on in here?" His voice was booming with authority, but I could detect slight amusement in his voice.
"Luna has been punching for two hours, beating all of our bets," Tony explained. I smirked and said,
"I could go for 24 hours if you gave me a caffeinated cliff bar."
"I can arrange that," Tony said pointing his finger at me.
"Luna could you stop for a moment please," Fury asked. I nodded and dropped my fists as I walked over to my bag and grabbed one of my water bottles, drinking the entire thing in one gulp. I pulled out another one as fury spoke again. "You've got a mission," he said handing a file to Natasha. "Departure in one hour." With a dramatic turn, Fury was walking out of the room and I laughed at his way of living.
We gathered around Natasha as she flipped through the few pages in the file. After reading it, I had all the information I needed and headed to my room to put on my gear that I had kept around from my days in the red room. I went into the closet, digging through my shirts to find the right one as JARVIS asked me a question.
"Luna, Natasha and Clint want to make sure you have a uniform. What would you like me to tell them?"
"I've got one." I threw the black tank top over my hand and dug through my pant drawer before finding my black cargo pants and knee pads. I wrapped the knuckle tape farther down my arm stopping at mid forearm, and wrapped my feet and legs stopping about half way up. I put my red hair up into a tight French braid and put on some converse before walking out into the kitchen with ten minutes to spare. I had guns on my thighs, front, back, and my sniper rifle packed in pieces in my pockets just in case, and I had taken my blue contacts out, letting my green eyes shine through. When everyone saw me their jaws dropped open causing me to blush, something I haven't done in a long time. Tony quickly closed his mouth when he saw my shoes.
"You're going to fight in those shoes," he asked judgmentally.
"Of course not," I said slipping one of my shoes off. "What do you think the tape is for?" Tony looked bewildered. Everyone did really, but I didn't care. We had a mission.
I walked into the quinnjet waiting for us on the landing pad and took a seat in the back of the jet amongst the shadows because that's where I liked it. Everyone else quickly boarded, allowing us to take off. Steve walked over to the table in the middle of room and clicked a few buttons before beginning to speak.
"Ok everyone. This is a small HYDRA base located in Germany as I'm sure you all read, and it should be and easy target with merely thirty soldiers. Banner, I want you to wait in the quinnjet for a code green while the rest of us go in and eliminate the staff, allowing Natasha access to the computer room. Natasha will data mine them while the rest of us take out the rest of the base. If you get hurt rub some dirt on it and keep going."
I nodded taking in everything Steve had said quickly, but remaining in the shadows until Clint asked,
"Wait. Where's Luna?" I chuckled and stood up.
"Right here." He let out a relived sigh and relaxed as Steve walked over to me.
"Hey, so, I'm not exactly sure what it is that you can do on the field, so could I get a little information?" He took a seat next to me as I thought about where to start.
"Well, I'm a highly trained assassin, I'm deadly from over 200 yards away with a gun, I am trained in all forms of martial arts, I'm one hell of a dancer, I have a sniper rifle in my pockets, seven guns, a few grenades, twenty clips, a regular rifle, a pistol, a reusable grappling hook, I can hack literally anything, and two hand guns so I can do whatever." I took a deep breath and stared at Steve with an innocent look. He nodded and muttered a small 'ok' and walked away. I smiled triumphantly and leaned back in my seat, closing my eyes to get some rest during the long flight to Germany.
I awoke when I felt the jet begin to descend from the sky, rubbing the sleep from my eyes and standing up, shaking violently from a dream I didn't remember. I quickly stretched and walked to the front of the quinnjet where Tony was landing the jet peacefully. It was quiet because everyone was sleeping, but the silence was broken when Tony clicked a button next to a speaker and yelled,
"Rise and shine bitches!" I rolled my eyes with a smile and walked to the back of the jet where a few people picked themselves up off the floor, and pushed the open hatch button causing the large rear door to open, letting in the cold German breeze. A few people groaned as the cold hit them, and other just sleepily walked towards the opening with me, but in the end we were all walking through the cold German summer towards the HYDRA base. Tony was complaining about the mile walk, and I was getting annoyed, but I was trained better than to be annoyed and merely blocked out the sound.
Soon enough we had found the gray building and Tony was going in first, but there were still two guards outside the main entrance.
"Hey Luna, do you still have that sniper rifle on you," Steve asked as we laid in the grass on a hill facing the entrance. I nodded and pulled out all the pieces quickly assembling them and loading three bullets into my gun, one for each soldier, and another for the security camera watching them.
I turned my silencer on and shot out the camera causing the guards to change positions and walk over to the sparking camera, and I took my chance and shot both men in the head. They dropped like flies and I quickly disassembled my gun as we climbed down the hill.
The six of us lined up behind Tony as he readied his repulsers and kicked down the door.
