Tara
This is probably the worst possible way to get up on a Saturday morning.
So there I was, just calmly sleeping on my desk chair, with my forehead pressed against the keyboard. It was actually quite comfortable.
"Tara! Tara, get up!" I was being shaken, and I groaned.
Before I could find out who the heck was shaking me, I fell out of my comfortable desk chair and crumpled to the floor.
"Ow."
Hey, atleast it was soft. I look up and see a tall man with light brown hair, a navy shirt polo shirt, beige shorts, and black Nike's.
"Jason?" I ask the strange male, squinting at him. I think I need glasses.
"I'm good, thanks for asking Tara." He said sarcastically.
"You interrupted my beautiful slumber." I said, still laying on the floor.
He offered me his hand. I took it, and he pulled me up so I was standing. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I look at my clock in the corner of my room, and see 9:30 blinking back at me.
I probably stayed up until atleast 1am last night Skyping the boys. I looked back at my screen, and see there hotel room, but no one there. At the speed of light, I end the call and turn off my laptop.
That was close.
"May I ask who you were video chatting with?"
Nevermind.
"That, is none of your bussiness." I say, crossing my arms.
"Oh you dont have to hide it, I already know. Mom told me when I got here. You and Chloe are spending the summer with One Direction." He said proudly. Woah, stalker much?
"I saw in a magazine that Harry likes you." Jason smirks, and my face goes red for a couple of seconds. Is that true?
"That's not true, Jason. We're just friends." I say, hopefully telling the truth. At this point, I really have no idea.
"So, why are you here?" I ask, changing the subject as quick as possible.
"I'm on a break from college. I'll be here all weekend."
"Nice." I say, bringing an awkward silence.
I heard something sizzling from downstairs.
Bacon.
I shoot out of my room, tumbled down the stairs, and raced into the kitchen.
"Daddy!" I yell as I see my dad cooking bacon.
I hugged him, seeing that I haven't seen him in over a week. I act like a five-year-old.
Jason walked in after me.
"Mornin'" He says, casually pouring himself coffee.
"Mornin' Jason. Tara, what's on your forehead?" He asked. I rubbed my hand on my forehead, curious myself.
"Oh. Those are just keyboard marks. I fell asleep on my keyboard." I said in my most normal tone, smiling innocently.
"okay then..... want some bacon?" he said, looking very wierded-out. He held up his spatula.
"Would I ever say no to bacon?" I asked. Bacon is part of my everyday life.
"So that's a yes, I guess." He said.
"And that rhymed. Hey look a clementine."
Cue the whole world laughing at me.
My dad grabbed a plate and put some bacon and eggs on it. I didn't even notice the eggs; I was too focused on the bacon. Hey look, bacon.
I sat down and started eating. My dad sat down on the opposite side of the table.
"So where are you going on your bussiness trip?" I ask, since I still don't know.
"We will be going to California and staying in Santa Barbara."
"Cool." I say smoothly. I opened my mouth again, but Jason beat me to it.
"Don't start rhyming again." He snickered. I frowned at him and crossed my arm over my chest.
"Just once?" I pout.
"No!" He shouts.
"Darn." I say, snapping my finger.
We have a weird family.
We ate in silence after that. After breakfast, I went upstairs and got dressed for the day. it was going to be cold today, so I put on a Jean jacket, black leggings, under the Jean jacket a purple tank top, and black combat boots.
"What am I going to do today?" I asked myself. I know it's weird to talk to yourself, but I do it anyway.
I put my hair in a French braid, having nothing else to do.
I decided to go to Starbucks, again. I hopped in my car, and put the key in the ignition.
I am so lucky to have a Starbucks two minutes from my house. I walked in the door, and the amazing aroma of Starbucks coffee filled my nose. I stepped up to the counter, surprised that there was no line.
The worker looked up at me, ready to take my order.
"Hi, can I tak- Tara!" She finishes her sentance.
I stared at her quizzically. Wait. I know that face!
"Oh my god, Kendall!" I yelled. We did a across counter hug.
Kendall was my best friend when we were little. We lived next door to each other and I went over to her house everyday when I was five. But, when she turned six, she moved away, and I never knew why. Now, eleven years later, I see her working at the Starbucks close to my house.
"So, what are you doing this summer?" She asked. It just HAD to be that question. I thought of something quick.
"Actually... I am spending the whole summer in Santa Barbara with my parents." I say, surprised that I am actually lying to her. Pat on the back for me.
"Oh, well that's too bad. I was wishing we could hang out!" She said sadly.
"Yeah, me too."
Apparently she just realized that there is a line out the door of impatient costumers. Well, that was fast.
"oh, about that, can I borrow your car?" she pointed to my convertible. I looked at her weird.
"Uh... Sure. Just drop it off at my house after your shift." I smile, feeling extra generous today.
I wrote down my address on a piece of paper, and gave it to her.
"Thank you!" She says, then nervously looks at the line.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, Tara. What would you like?"
"No prob, Kendall. I would like a vanilla bean frappe, and a chocolate chip muffin please,"
It was weird to tell your long lost best friend your order for Starbucks.
"Comin' right up!" She says, and I scoot from the line.
I waited for a little while. Why does this always take so long?
"A vanilla frappe and a chocolate chip muffin for Tara?" An overjoyed worker says from behind me. I grabbed my drink and happily walked out of the little cafe.
"Bye, Kendall!" I yell at her, rapidly taking orders.
"Bye Tara!" She yells back.
I walk past my ravishing car.
"I'll see you later." I say quietly and patted the trunk.
I checked my watch that I was planning on being an accesory.
It said 1:00.
Only one and a half days until I leave with the boys. Wow.
I let that happy thought sink into my head. I was so focused, I hit a tree.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"
