Felix
Think of the old times.
(Y/n) grew up with two parents who had her at a young age. Her mother was half French-half American who knew a bit of Korean. She fell in love with (y/n)'s father while going out to pick for groceries. Her father was full Korean.
Their parents hated the idea of them dating, mostly because they had already planned who they were gonna marry. Even though they were forbidden to see each other, they snuck out in the middle of the nights to see one another. They were so in love that they had promised each other that they were gonna get married, despite their parents wishes.
While out on a warm night, they were spotted cuddling next to each other. Their parents were mortified and forced each of them to their homes.
Six weeks without seeing each other has been painful for them. (Y/n)'s mother turned out to be pregnant at age 17 which to no surprise angered her parents. They were gonna force her to terminate the pregnancy but she didn't want to do that. So she ran away.
She met up with her lover who now knows about the pregnancy. She told him everything which upset him. He wasn't gonna let anyone hurt her or the baby so they made a plan and ran away together.
Years pass until their daughter turned six. (Y/n)'s mother got sick and her father was murdered. Even though she was a bit young, she knew exactly what was going to happen. Her mother was too weak and everyday it got worse until she was no longer breathing.
For years, (y/n) has been in many different homes, dealing with many situations. She couldn't handle it, the torture and suffering. When she was thirteen, she escaped from one of the group homes and traveled miles and miles.
~Three Years Later~
"Felix, make sure you give food to the horses."
"Yes father."
Felix helps his father care for his farm, making sure all the animals are well-fed and the fruits and vegetables in the gardens are out of reach for the rats to feed on. He grabbed two buckets filled with the mixture of food and walked towards the enclosure of the horses. Opening the door of the barn, he smiled when he saw his three favorite horses.
"Hey there. You guys hungry?", he asked them, putting the buckets on the ground.
He opened the gate of the enclosure and walked in, petting one of the horses. While feeding the horses, he heard a strange sound coming from the other side of the barn.
"Hello?", he called out.
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to say that because who knows, it might be someone with an ax, waiting for him to get closer and kill him. He grabbed a shovel and held it up as he got closer to the sound. It sounded as if it was coming from behind the boxes near the corner. When he peeked, he noticed a girl around his age, bleeding from her leg.
"Huh?", he said, catching her attention.
She gasped and tried to get back. He kneeled down to her level and told her that it was gonna be okay. The cut on her leg was too deep. All she needed was for it to be cleaned and wrapped in gauze.
"Stay here. I'll be back", he said.
He ran out of the barn and into his house, looking for the first aid kit that was prepared by one of the housekeepers. Right when he found it, he ran back into the barn and kneeled in front of the girl. He was very gentle as he cleaned up the blood from the cut.
"I'm Felix. What's your name?", he asked.
"..(y/n)", she answered.
He noticed a few bruises on her face.
"Well (y/n), I'm just gonna clean this up and I'll get you up and walking in no time. Where do you live? I can drive you there if it's far", he said.
"Um...I'm kinda on my own", she said.
"On your own? You mean, you don't have a place to live? Where are your parents?", he asked.
"Dead", she answered while looking down at the used cotton balls.
"..oh. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked-"
"It's fine. Can you hurry up so I can leave?", she said.
"But where are you gonna go?", he asked.
"I'm not trying to be mean but it's none of your business", she said.
He nodded and continued to tend her cut. Right when he finished, she tried standing up but she still felt pain.
"You must have sprained your ankle. You can't walk on it or it'll get worse", he said.
"It's fine-"
"No it isn't. You can stay here with us until you get better. If you wanna leave after that then you can . I just have to let my father know you're here-"
"No! He's gonna call the police and then they're gonna take me back to the group home. I'm not going back there", she began to panic and tried to walk away.
"He won't. I promise. Just stay here and when you feel better, you're free to leave", he said.
She agreed. He helped her inside the house, making sure she is comfortable on the couch.
"Who's this?", his father asked as soon as he walked inside.
"Uh this is (y/n). She hurt her leg and can't walk. I'm just helping her", Felix answered.
His father kept looking at her, making her feel uncomfortable.
"What happened?", he asked.
"She fell while climbing on a few rocks", Felix said.
His father let out a low chuckle and turned towards the kitchen. Felix quickly followed him and explained everything that was going on.
"She needs a place to stay", Felix said.
"And what do you suppose I should do?", his father asked.
"I was thinking she can stay here. I mean, until her leg feels better", Felix said.
"No. We're too busy to be taking in strays", his father said.
"But she has no one. I can take care of her. I'll do extra chores. I'll do anything", Felix said.
His father thought for a few seconds before walking towards (y/n), Felix following behind him.
"Listen here, you can stay. But if you're planning to stay here for good, you will have to help around just like everyone else. If there so happens to be a problem, I won't hesitate to kick you out. Understand?", his father said.
(Y/n) glanced over at Felix who had his eyebrows raised. He was hoping she would say yes because he didn't really have any friends and with her around, he wouldn't be bored. Once she nodded, his father stormed out, heading to the fields to continue gathering fruit.
Felix sat down next to (y/n) and offered her food. She hasn't eaten a whole meal in years. Usually she would go out and steal to be able to eat but nothing like what he offered. The aroma of the food causes her stomach to growl so loud, Felix couldn't help but chuckle.
"I'm gonna set up the guest room so you can rest. Plus I'll leave extra towels so you can shower. For now, you can borrow my clothes to sleep in and I can wash your clothes. If you need anything else just let me know", Felix smiled before walking away.
(Y/n) looked around, observing the kitchen as she ate her food. After three years of being out on the street, she can't get comfortable with this.
Weeks pass since they accepted (y/n) into their home. Her leg has healed and is now helping Felix around the farm. They were ordered to clean the horses and their enclosure.
"Can you grab those buckets?", Felix said, pointing to the buckets filled with water.
He was carrying the other two. She followed him into the barn and put the buckets down near the door so they can bring out the horses one by one.
(Y/n) was in charge of the youngest one since he was more calm than the others. She brushed his coat and made sure the horse was clean. Felix would glance at her a few times to see if she was doing okay. He can see how (y/n) kept smiling at the way the horse would neigh.
"Do you ever ride these horses?", she asked.
"Most times. Whenever they've been in their enclosures for too long, I take them out", he said.
"Do you think I can ride one?", she asked.
"Do you want to?", be asked.
"I mean, I've never been on one before", she said.
"I can show you how to ride one. But much later", he smiled.
She nodded, continuing to brush the horses mane.
~Three Years Later~
"Felix you're so slow!", (y/n) laughed as she and her horse rode up to the top of the hill.
"It's not my fault. She's getting old", Felix said, referring to his horse.
"Yeah sure, blame the horse", she laughed.
"Come on, We're almost there", he said.
She followed Felix until they were near the river. They tied up their horses before Felix put down a blanket on the grass. He grabbed the picnic basket and sat down, taking the food out.
"You didn't have to cook so much. Today's not a big deal anyways", she said.
"What do you mean?? Turning 19 is a big deal. You made a huge cake for my birthday and I couldn't even finish it. Anyways, you're spending it with me right? Am I not fun?", he teased.
"That's not what I mean. And I don't mind spending it with you. You're the only one who actually cares about me. I never got to thank you for looking out for me. You're really sweet", she said.
"Well I wasn't just gonna let you leave when you were alone. I like taking care of you", he smiled.
"You don't have to take care of me. I'm old enough-"
"I don't care if you're old. I'll still take care of you because I'm older", he poked her cheek.
"By four months", she said.
"Either way I'm still older than you. I also have something for you", he said.
He reached into the picnic basket and took out a small box, handing it to her.
"You didn't have to-"
"Shut up and open it", he chuckled.
When she did, she softly gasped as there was a small necklace in the box. A small key with her initials on it was gold with small pink diamonds.
"Felix..this must have cost a lot. If your father finds out, he'll be upset", she said.
"I've been saving my money so he can't get mad. And I really wanted to get you this. Here, let me put it on", he said.
He grabbed the necklace and sat behind her, carefully putting the necklace around her neck. He smiled as she saw her looking down.
"Thanks Felix", she said, shyly looking at him.
He softly nodded and glanced down at her hand. He intertwined them together and sat closer to her. Both (y/n) and Felix have been feeling strange whenever they're together. It's been like that since over a year ago. But his father made it clear that they can't be together. They try their hardest not to few anything but it's hard when they like each other so much.
"(Y/n)?", Felix called out.
She turned to face him. His eyes stayed glued to hers, breathing heavily. His hand went up to her cheek, feeling the warmth from her blushing. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers. She didn't hesitate to kiss him back. Even though they weren't allowed to be together, they can't help feeling what they feel.
Unfortunately, they didn't realize who was watching from afar.
The next day, they went out to do some grocery shopping. They were happy and even snuck a few kisses and flirting here and there but when they returned, his father wasn't the only one waiting in the living room. There was another man with two of his kids.
"Ah son, you remember Annie right?", his father asked, smiling at the other man.
"What is she doing here?", Felix asked.
"Your father didn't tell you? He approves of our marriage", Annie said, walking towards him and placing her hand in his, glaring at (y/n) for a second before smiling back at Felix.
(Y/n) was taken aback because she has never even met this person before.
"What marriage?", Felix asked.
"Son, I married your mother at age eighteen and you're already nineteen. You know, these days it's hard to find someone who you'll spend the rest of your life with. Annie here is willing to marry you. We've were just talking about it", his father said.
"But-"
"Now wouldn't it be rude to shatter your father's dreams for you? Let's not waste any time", Annie said.
Felix glanced over at (y/n) who was trying to smile so no one would notice that she was hurt.
"Hm..who's this?", another young man, probably two or three years younger than her, asked while eyeing her up and down.
"This is (y/n). She's staying with us. Hey! Since we've already arranged a wedding for Felix and Annie, wouldn't it be great if the two of you got married? That way you won't be lonely. (Y/n), this is Dohyung", his father smiled while lightly pushing her towards him.
Felix could tell she was uncomfortable. Dohyung got closer to her and placed his arm around her waist. Felix was about to charge forward but Annie pulled him back.
"Great so we'll have two weddings. This is amazing. I will call a few places to get everything organized", his father smiled and happily walked away.
Dohyung followed behind him, glancing back at (y/n) with a smirk on his face. Felix was about to go to her but Annie, with a smile, pulled him forward to follow his father.
A few weeks pass. Felix's father has been planning both weddings which neither (y/n) nor Felix are excited for. Whenever they weren't with their "partners", they try to talk to each other but his father would interrupt and called either one of them.
(Y/n) was in the barn, washing the horses' enclosure when Felix walked in and closed the door. Turning around, she faced Felix and continued to clean.
"Are you okay? You don't look so good", he said.
"I'm just running a fever I think", she said.
Lies. She knows exactly what's wrong with her.
"Really? Then you shouldn't be working. You should rest", he said.
"I have to finish my chores", she said.
Felix walked towards her and grabbed her hand to prevent her from grabbing the sponge. He noticed tears in her eyes so he quickly pulled her towards a chair and asked her what was really going on.
"Your father is gonna be furious", she said, wiping the tears from her face.
"Why would he be furious?", he asked.
"Remember on my birthday when we had the picnic? That was weeks ago. I'm worried", she said.
"Worried about what?", he asked.
"What if...I'm pregnant? I've been feeling sick. Your dad is gonna kick me out if he finds out", she said.
"He won't. I won't let that happen. I'm not gonna leave you on your own. Okay?", he said.
He held her hands and leaned forward to kiss her but as soon as they were an inch apart, the door of the barn opened, showing a very angry Annie and Felix's father.
"See! I told you they were fooling around behind our backs", Annie said, glaring at (y/n).
"Son, What are you doing?? You're gonna get married to Annie soon. And you, I took you in as if you were my own daughter. How can you do this to me?", Felix's father said as he scolded them.
Felix got in front of (y/n) and defended them.
"I'm not gonna marry Annie. I don't love her. I love (y/n). She's probably expecting and if you're gonna kick her out then you're gonna have to kick me out too. Because I'm not leaving her alone", Felix said.
His father looked at them for a few seconds. Annie was getting frustrated and noticed his father calming down.
"Mr. Lee, can't you see she's just trying to tear this wedding apart?? She's been a problem ever since she got here. They went behind your back even after you told them they can't be together. She's probably the one who convinced him", Annie said.
"Stop lying. She's not like that. And no matter what happens, I'm never gonna marry you and I'm never gonna love you", Felix said to her.
Annie faced his father and kept trying to convince him to kick her out but he can see the worried look on his son's face.
"Fine. Both weddings are off. But if it turns out she is pregnant, I expect you to take responsibility", his father said.
Annie scoffed and tried to fight (y/n) but Felix blocked her and told her to leave before he called the police. His father escorted her out, leaving Felix and (y/n) to talk.
"See? I told you everything is gonna be okay. I'm always gonna be taking care of you", he smiled softly.
~~~Four Years Later~~~
"(Y/n), are you hungry?", Felix asked as he entered the room where she was on the bed sleeping.
He sat on the bed and caressed her head, waking her up.
"I made lunch. Are you hungry?", he asked.
"Not at the moment. Where's Luna?", she asked, stretching.
"She's on the field with my father. He's showing her the strawberries", he said.
She nodded and sat up, struggling a bit.
"If your stomach gets any bigger, you're gonna have to roll everywhere", he joked.
"Well luckily I only have a month left before he comes out. Luna's too excited for her little brother. She can't wait to see him. She said whenever I'm sick, she'll help take care of him", she said.
"She loves helping. She got that from me. Unlike someone else", Felix said, referring to her.
"I love helping too. I just get lazy sometimes", she said.
She stood up from the bed, looked over at Felix and smiled.
"I can't wait to marry you", she said.
Felix chuckled and held her hands, feeling the diamond ring on her finger.
"I promise I'll get you one with a bigger diamond-"
"I don't care about that. You could've given me a ring made out of plastic and I'd still accept it. Im just happy to be with you", she said.
"And I'm happy I'm with you. I love you", he smiled.
"I love you too."
