Bike lifting
(Many of my stories revolve around my bike. I use it too much for it not to be so)
Before I had my license to drive, I used to go grocery shopping with my bike. For anyone who asks: not a good idea. You can't bring many groceries on a bike, however big your backpack is. Plus, you risk to damage the bike if you get too much weight on it.
One day, I had a particularly big grocery list (by bike standards), but my mother made me do it all the same, because she wanted me to. Never got how that is supposed to be a good argument, but we're not talking about that.
I went to the shop, did my browsing and stuff... and then I see it: some guys outside doing something to my bike! So I ran out and they made a run for it, leaving my bike there.
"Good" I thought, re-entering the shop to finish paying for my groceries... but then, as I was taking my bike, I realized the chain was damaged by those guys... and so I couldn't use the bike to go home.
Picture the scene: Me, with a backpack and 2 bags full of groceries, and a broken bike... 3 miles from home at least. A damn tragedy under the summer sky.
So what did I do? A sensible person would have called for help or left the bike there, but I knew no one was gonna come for me. Plus, that bike is expensive, and I love it too much to leave it.
So I did the impossible: I tied the bags to my wrists to have my hands free... and lifted my bike up on my shoulders, with my backpack on the front.
And I walked home. Aaaalll the way back home with a bike on my shoulders and the groceries. Thinking back to it, it was probably the dumbest solution, but then again, I am as stupid as a bean.
So that's the story of how the people saw a weird guy carrying a bike on his shoulders with bags all around... a sight to behold, I bet.
What do you think? What would you have done in my stead? Tell me in the comments, and I'll see you next time in this book!
Byeeee!
