Short story (by Half-Reality or rather... Reality :D )
The same story from another perpective. .
There was no fate but only chance. There was no god but only a man himself and the world. That was what He used to believe until She showed him otherwise. Her existence induced him to register the word "heaven sent" into his vocab; while her warm fuzzy love compelled him to re-evaluate his cold hard rationality.
She caught his attention years ago. Was it because He had a soft heart for cute, quiet, bookish, innocent-looking girls who wore glasses? Was it because He was affected by some kind of invisible chemistry? Or was it because somehow He could intuitively look into the future? He didn't know. He didn't care. He wanted to befriend Her and that was what mattered.
One day, after class, one of her close friends paid Her a visit. Knowing that person fairly well, He decided to tag a long and tried his luck at attempting to know Her. Looking back, such decision was insanely absurd. To begin with, She, like most other people, found Him detestable. Second and more important, what the heck did he think he can possibly do as a virtually unacquainted, male outsider at a session of girls chit-chatting?
Yet, amazingly, against all odds, He and She clicked instantaneously. They, the two prior strangers, talked passionately about who-know-what. When they stopped to call it a day, almost 6 hours had passed. Her close friend had left much earlier, having been completely sidestepped. That fateful, irregular day marked the beginning of a fateful, irregular relationship. He became her Half-Reality. She became his Friend.
Soon afterward, He realized that Friend occupied a much higher place in his heart than all his other friends did. He found her sparkling eyes energizing and her calm expression soothing; her vain one-way-crush sorrowful and her cute beautiful smile joyous; her pain-laden look agonizing and her vigorous presence uplifting. He knew that She was special. Friend became Special-Friend.
Their relationship evolved extremely fast. It went way beyond friendship but never into the "love" territory. In fact, both He and She got their own romantic pursuits. Half-Reality loved his girlfriend while Special-Friend dreamt after her Hallucination. Yet, such romantic pursuits didn't prevent them from being unusually close to each other. Perhaps, their relationship at the time could be considered platonic, caring and respectful, innocent and unselfish. What ever it was, it was surely .... Novel. Wonderful, Extraordinary.
