Stormpaw sat in front of the apprentice's den with her eyes closed, her dark gray fur blowing in the soft, green-leaf breeze. Her pelt used to look much brighter, but after her mother's death, it seemed to have dulled.

"Hey Stormpaw!" Her brother, Adderpaw meowed cheerily.

"Hello, Adderpaw." The gray she-cat feigned a happy tone, opening her eyes. Her feelings seemed to have disappeared for the most part, probably due to the fact that she tried her hardest to block out everything she felt that day.

"How's training with Rippletail going?" The black tom in front of her asked, tilting his head to the side.

"It's... going alright, I guess," Stormpaw meowed, not knowing what to say. "She taught me some cool battle moves, like Upright Lock, and Belly Rake."

Adderpaw's eyes narrowed in confusion. "You just learned Belly Rake and Upright Lock? You're almost a warrior!" He exclaimed in disbelief. "Redheart taught me Belly Rake a moon or two after I became an apprentice! How are you still learning battle moves?!"

"Well, our mentors are different. Rippletail takes me hunting more often than we battle." Stormpaw shifted her paws more comfortably. "And Redheart is constantly trying to get you to fight."

Adderpaw's face turned into one of uncomfort and nervousness, and it was a short moment before he spoke. "Don't.. repeat this to anyone, but one time, he suggested we fight with our claws... unsheathed.."

Stormpaw fake gasped. I really couldn't care less. "But, that's against the Warrior Code!" As if I care about the Warrior Code..

Adderpaw shook his head. "No, it's a rule that was set by Ravenclaw, and a few leaders before him."

She rolled her eyes. "Yes, but the leader's word is the Warrior Code."

"Oh."

A voice called Adderpaw's name, and it could only be recognized as Redheart.

"I.. Have to go.." He mewed quietly. "Wish me luck."

"Good luck!"

Stormpaw stretched. She loves her siblings, of course she does, but she dislikes conversations. She strolled over to the large fresh-kill pile, and grabbed two plump mice, and trotted over to the elder's den. "Sparrowlight?" She called.

"Hello, Stormpaw." A soft voice called. Sparrowlight is basically Stormpaw's best friend, as she knows about the terrible tragedy she went through, and also the murderous tendencies she has.

"I brought two mice for us to
eat together." Stormpaw meowed.

A deeper, older voice called out from the shadows. "You didn't bring one for me?" Thistlefang asked.

"Oh, no, sorry." She shrugged. The older apprentice set the mice down, as Thistlefang laid down in his nest, going to sleep.

"So, tell me Stormpaw. How are you dealing with.. everything."

"I want to hurt something." She admitted carelessly.

"Shh!" Sparrowlight hissed, glancing over at Thistlefang. His pelt was still softly rising and falling, and he was snoring. "You need to be careful with what you say!" She whispered.

Stormpaw meowed an apology.

"Anyways.." The reddish she-cat meowed, with a hint of anger in her voice. "I know, but you saw what happened last time you tried that. Your mentor beat you easily, because you weren't strong enough." She paused, before continuing. "Also, you're lucky you got away with it, blaming it on you forgetting to sheathe your claws."

"I know, but I'm stronger now!" She insisted.

"Maybe, but even so, killing is against the Warrior Code, and against StarClan's will."

"I don't care if StarClan disapproves!" Stormpaw growled lightly. "I don't even believe in StarClan!"

"Oh? Why is that?" The elder asked, cocking her head to the side.

"Because, if StarClan existed, they wouldn't have made Duskpelt kill my mother!" She hissed, unsheathing her claws.

Sparrowlight nodded.

"You know what? I'm leaving. Enjoy your two mice." She sneered.

Stormpaw decided to go hunting, so she could dig her claws into something. As she ventured deeper into the forest, the smell of prey hit her nose. And..
