Chapter 2

Rain...... Falling. The pitter-patter sounds of the rain colliding with earth.

Sky...... Pouring. Thunder booms and Lightning flashes with the storm.

Clouds....... Gathering. Gray mist flies into the air and dances in puddles.

"The selected cats for the Gathering are Galefoot, Birdfeather, Highsky, Brackenflight, Brightpelt, Skylight, Heatherbreeze and Dawnrise." Breezestar's yowl pierced through the night air. Dark clouds blotted out the sky and steady rain drenched all of them. The moon was a glowing white circle in the sky, like a cat's pupil, peering at them silently and sneakily. "The rest of you must watch out for any intruders and protect the kits and elders. Got it?"

"On it!" the remaining cats responded.

"Come on! Let's go to the Gathering!" Breezestar leapt off from the great grand rock and padded to the camp entrance. The chosen cats followed her eagerly, while the others stood around the camp, their heads darting around and their ears pricking and twitching around, listening for any sign of invaders.

Dripping fronds dropped seeds on the trekking cats' pelts as they made their way through the reeds near Marineclan border. Highsky got some seeds in her nose, and she sneezed! ACHOO!! She jumped backwards and slammed hard into Dawnrise, who let out a startled yowl and collapsed on top of Heatherbreeze. Her eyes widened with shock as she was shoved into the muddy earth.

"Seriously?" Galefoot muttered, rolling his eyes. Suddenly he also got a seed in his nose, and he flew backwards, bonking Breezestar, Birdfeather, Brackenflight, Brightpelt and Skylight, which they hit the other cats of the patrol that were picking themselves up.

When Breezestar came to her senses, she realized that her patrol was all piled on top of one another, dazed. She climbed out from under Skylight and called, "Hurry!" soon all the cats were crossing the Stone-Bridge.

Breezestar glanced over the edge and saw the sparkling black water beneath them. The moon shimmered and flickered on the water like if it was made of flames, ready to be extinguished at any heartbeat. Her paws hit the sand, and she hopped off the stones, then she led her clan into the big hidden clearing. When she shoved herself through the barrier of thorns, the other two clans were waiting for them. Two pairs of eyes shone in the darkness. One pair of green eyes belonged to Birchstar, leader of Forestclan, and he was standing on one of the three tall rocks. The logo of a tree glinted in the dim light. On the tall rock on the most right, there was a pair of dark-blue eyes. That belonged to Dolphinstar, leader of Marineclan. On her rock, there was the logo of a fish swimming in the ocean, and it was barely visible.

"Hi, Birchstar and Dolphinstar!" Breezestar called as she raced to the back of the rock and bounded up the jagged and uneven slope of the rock. On her rock, there was a logo of three gusts of wind. She stood on the top of the rock and gazed at the sky, her tail high. The clouds cleared and the stars shone overhead.

"Welcome, Breezestar," Dolphinstar said, and Birchstar nodded to Breezestar. "Let the Gathering begin."

"Can I start?" Breezestar asked. When both leaders dipped their heads, she raised her voice to Starclan. "When I and Galefoot went to the Moon-cove, we encountered a vision, a sign. It was very scary." then she told the clans the story.

"Breezestar? What-what do you think will happen?" Dolphinstar whispered.

"Some of my cats have found out that-" Breezestar began, but was cut off by Snowysky of Forestclan screaming. All three leaders whipped around and saw that she was being pinned down by a rogue.

"Die!" the rogue slashed at her belly with vicious claws. Snowysky shrieked with fear.

"Get off my sister!" Songsky zipped forwards and rammed hard into the rogue's side and sent him reeling. "You will never hurt her!"

Snowysky shrieked as white fur was torn away from her shoulders.

"What's happening?" Breezestar gasped with fright as more rogues piled in and started to attack the Clan cats.

"Fight back!" Birchstar shouted. As he yelled, his warriors began fighting.

"All of you! Fight!" Breezestar screamed. She spotted an unfamiliar pelt beneath her and leapt. She landed squarely on the rogue's back. UMPH! His legs buckled and the air was driven out of his lungs. She gripped the rogue on the throat and glared at him. "What are you trying to to to us in the middle of the Gathering?"

"Rrr! You will not stop Leaderclan from taking over the other clans!" he jumped up and launched Breezestar across the clearing.

As she tumbled through the sky, she focused on a nearby tree. When it came close, she extended her forelegs and dug her claws into the tree, her tail flying behind her. Pain roared throughout her claws, and she gasped as she laid herself on a branch. Leaderclan? What type of clan is that? She thought.

"Leaderclan! Knock all of them out! We will take them as hostages!" a cruel yowl rang throughout the air.

NO! WHOEVER THIS CAT IS, IT IS SURELY THEIR LEADER! THEY ARE GOING TO KILL MY CLAN! Rage flared inside her and she leapt off the branch.

She soared through the air, her fur flying and her eyes narrowed. She landed in an empty clearing and started slashing at a cat hidden in the shadows. "You tried to kill us! You will never destroy the three clans!" Breezestar slashed her claw down his side, and he shrieked.

"Fool! We've trained!" the cat dodged her blows and swiped hard at her muzzle.

Dazed. Breezestar stumbled backwards and tripped over a stone. The cat leaped over and loomed over her, raising a threatening claw.

"Hahahaha. We shall rule over the clans. We will make it a stronger, more united, more successful clan! I am Godstar, god of all living things, including you!"

Breezestar hauled herself to her paws, gasping for breath. "If you are a god, do you have fire powers?" She crouched, preparing to spring on him."

"UH-uh, yes, I do!" he stuttered. "I will breathe fire on you! So surrender now!" smoke started to bellow from his mouth.

"No." Breezestar growled and launched herself at him. Rage fired through her muscles, giving her more energy. Godstar howled and thrashed around, anger flaring through his eyes as he recovered and began to fight back.

Breezestar winced as sharp claws raked her cheek. She twisted around and threw her hind legs into the air, striking him in the chin. He flew into the air and slammed hard into a tree. His shriek was louder than the crack of the tree's trunk. The tree groaned and shifted as the impact drove a big crack in the middle of it. The tree split in half, and one half fell on top of Godstar. Godstar yowled with surprise and agony.

"HAH! No cat will harm the Clans!" Breezestar snorted.

"Grrrrr...... ARGH!" Godstar erupted from under the tree's half, blazing with power. He rose into the air, the air around him sparking and flashing. "YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS! TAKE THIS!!!" He hurled a purple ball at Breezestar. Breezestar dodged it, but it followed her.

"Get it away!" she shrieked, rushing around the clearing. The ball followed her actions like if she was bait.

"My turn to attack!" Godstar zipped forwards and slammed Breezestar to the ground. He lifted his paw and slammed it hard into the side of her head, and her vision began to darken. The last thing she heard him whisper into her ear was: "You shall feel my wreath and my power, and all of you mange pelts will be taken over by me, their ultimate true leader." Then she felt numb and her mind fell into a deep, dark hole.
