Chapter 2

The outside world without guards was amazing, but felt a bit strange. No guards yelling at people, and with his hood up nobody was proper. A downside to no one being proper though is that many of them are very rude to him. None of them can see his face nor recognize him so they don't have a clue that he is the prince.

"Excuse me everyone! The young prince of Valand, Alexander, is missing! If you see him bring him to the castle immediately!" Alexander heard a tall guard from his castle announced. This made Alexander let out a low groan.

Alexander then ducked into an alley and quickly walked into a large and crowded market. He never imagined how busy and loud it could get. His servants would always go to the market for him, and now he sees how difficult it can be.

He continued walking, avoiding eye contact, and heard many people yelling and fighting. He continued to steer clear of any guards putting up posters of him and calling his name. He wanted to make friends, but he didn't exactly know how. He can't just walk up to people and introduce himself,  he'd look crazy! What if someone recognizes him? They'll take him home and he'll be screwed.

He thought of the people who wouldn't recognize him, but shook it off. He doesn't know how to talk to others and because of the little socializing he got. He just had to enjoy the air outside the palace walls.

Alexander then saw a small girl sitting all alone, she seemed starving and most weak. "Are you alright hun?" He asked the small girl with worry. "You look hungry, do you want food?" He added.

The child whimpered at first seeing the strange man, hiding under a hood. She soon relaxed hearing Alexander's soft and gentle voice. A smile grew on her face from his kindness. "Y-yes please, I'm really hungry." She said weakly.

Alexander nodded and began approaching a bread stand. He froze realizing he brought no money and couldn't pay for anything. The little girl needed food though and he was determined on getting it for her.

He walked up to the stand as the owner was looking away, and quickly grabbed a loaf and ran off. He then handed the girl the bread and whispered "now go! Run away!" He knew how much trouble the girl would get in for that bread.

The girl nodded and quickly and weakly ran off with the bread. A smile grew on the prince's face, happy she got food.

"So, how are you going to pay for that?" A raspy voice asked behind him. Alexander jumped, startled by the voice, as he turned around and saw the man who sold bread. His heart pounded as he knew he was in trouble.

"U-um... I forgot my money at home. Can I come back later?" The prince asked, frightened. "I promise I'll pay you back!" He added, shaking now.

"Ya, right." The man growled angrily. "I've heard that a million times! I doubt you're being honest on that shit! You'll pay for that bread one way," He said, grabbing Alex, raising a butcher knife. "Or another!" He yelled.
